He's scum, but the woman comes across as thirteen years old, not a thirty three year old. I wonder if she is autistic or cognitively impaired. He definitely targeted her because he knew that he would be able to easily abuse her.

That said, I've heard that domestic violence doesn't get much interest from coppers in Japan? Seems strange that half a dozen of them showed up when he smacked her around. There was a Japanese rapist a few years back who filmed himself raping a hundred odd women, and none of them even bothered reporting him because they knew that the coppers wouldn't give a fuck. It wasn't until he escalated to murder that he was noticed.

Kunhiko Ikuhara worked on Sailor Moon and was so disturbed by the "perfect romance" crap that he went on to make Revolutionary Girl Utena to point out how creepy older predators use that shit to manipulate vulnerable young people, because anyone with practical experience knows that irl relationships just don't work like that.

The irony. Kunhiko saw Naoko romanticized a relationship between a college student and an underage high school student and said "Hold my sake...."
 
For anyone curious why this guy is a big deal coming from community happenings. He voiced Amuro Ray, the main character of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, one of the most important and successful mecha shows of all time (I hold no bias).

On a side note, does this seem milquetoast to anyone or am I just desensitized due to Burger celebrity scandals? A 70 year old man and 30 year old fujoshi just doesn't scream "scandal" to me the way it used to. I mean, he's an ass hole, but for Burger standards this really feels like a normal Tuesday.

If I understand correctly he did not "force" her to have an abortion. He beat her into one?

If so, makes more sense how he would get banned from everywhere.

If not, is the anime community against abortion?

I think its pretty disappointing for fans, this guy has been scandal free for 50 years to my knowledge, and has continued to voice Amuro that entire time. This may put the nail in the coffin for any future projects involving Amuro.

What a thing to admit once you're too old to effectively punish. What are you gonna do, take away the pills he has to spend half the day managing? Lock him in jail for the <5 years he likely has left? God forbid cancel someone who has already made all the money they'll ever make.
 
my initial reaction was who cares, he fucked a woman in her 30s. but then i read that he smacked her around. talk about burying the lede. anyway, fuck that old guy
