I hope you're ready for all of that shit to be rendered completely irrelevant and inconsequential by the start of the following arc.
I only feel obligated to read up to that point because I heard a specific character from that arc has a really stupid power. I don't plan on reading past that arc, I've heard everything post-Soul Society is garbage and the Arrancar arc/saga didn't persuade me that impression was false.

Also Mangadex just went down for "maintenance". You still wanna claim it's a good reader site @Sailor Troon ?

Anpan!

Day early, but happy 20th to CLANNAD.

Finished the shogun assassination arc. It takes a while to pick up but when you get to the final battle it's really awesome, though I feel like the flashbacks could have gone earlier and they distrupt the flow. Plus Katsura should have appeared considering he's pretty central to the flashbacks.

God damn the ending :'(
RIP shogun, you were a total bro and had some of the funniest episodes.

Could really use a filler comedy episode right now.

Edit: Forgot to say that the arc gave me strong HxH vibe for being (at least at the start) more serious and the very happy theme song when terrible shit is unfolding.

why are her eyes so far apart? is this what gokudolls was mocking?
Might be. That's just the style of Key's character designer that others ended up copying because moé (even though that's been a thing even before Key).

I recently read the manga "Innocent" & "Innocent Rogue" - a faggy japanese man's version of the french revolution and the (in)famous Sanson Family and I hate it. It's shame that the writing is so abysmal because the art is absolutely stunning.

I had to force myself to read to the end. If the art wasn't so amazing I would have stopped long ago.

Badly written characters & scenes, genderqueer bullshit (but at least not the western version) and an unrealistic amount of gay characters. It's really weird. On one hand it's realistic & about real historical events and people but then there is the typical weird japanese manga shit and way too much faggotry. Nearly every male character who is based on an actual historical person is gay or has a gay experience. Even fucking Robespierre is a fucking faggot and his boyfriend is a dude who looks straight out of a Visual Kei band. Then you have that lesbian gender creature which is the sister of Charles Henri Sanson who is an absolute evil & repulsive person but the reader is supposed to symphatize with her.

I really hate the awful writing but I love the beautiful art.

There's no blacks in Britain? Those fuckers LIED TO ME!!!
late reply, but lot of people unironically believed rick astley was black. plus britain in the 80's feels like it was a century ago compared to now.

Saying from someone who did read the mango to the end, the anime is still really entertaining. There's a few shows based on mangas I read that I eventually dropped because they were too boring, but Dungeon Meshi/DiD is a solid story that stands up to revisiting - and the animation is so superb it adds to the experience
I still remember all the doom and gloom that trigger got the job :story:
otoh it's not done yet, don't wanna jinx it.

Getting a little off-topic for an anime thread but the woman who sang several songs in Metropolis Street Racer (and also Sonic R) for music producer Richard Jacques is TJ Davis, born 1968 in Leeds, England, and she also was "Frida Longstockin'" in top-tier British ABBA tribute band "Bjorn Again" for seven years.

Not that it matters, but, as far as I can tell, she's white.

she is, the point was sounding black != being black (regarding the dubbed dominion tank police soundtrack)

So Netflix is doing a live action adaptation of City Hunter. I haven't read the original manga, but the isekai revisit makes it seem like there will be a lot of erection jokes that Netflix is unlikely to faithfully translate
why bother when this exists?
also too based for netflix
All currently available versions restore a scene that was removed from both the theatrical release as well as the LaserDisc versions of the film. The scene involves one of Kaori's suitors going on a rant about foreign tourists (to wit, Richard Norton's band of terrorists) and saying that he hopes they die of AIDS in Chinese, only to discover that they understood him very well. The scene was removed because the film's distributors were concerned that foreign audiences might be offended by the homophobic nature of the scene.

Clannad: finished all material, most they could do is the spinoff and typically spinoff material doesn't get adapted.
Lucky Star: legit surprised they didn't adapt more of this, the IP is as far as I can massively profitable. Maybe it's because they made the ending too conclusive to continue it?
Haruhi: Endless Eight killed the anime. I can only assume the movie was insufficient to resurrect interest in the IP.
K-ON: Probably just dropped off. CGDCT is a genre with no shortage of competition.
Nichijou: flopped so bad it tangibly affected the studio's reputation as a whole. (shame, I liked it quite a bit)
Full Metal Panic: Different studio got the rights to it and made S3 back in '18.
I don't think they necessarily abandoned their IPs so much as did everything they realistically could with them, or in some cases just flat out misfired. I think it's inevitable that they were going to move on to different IPs, all of which so far seem to be running about as long as their predecessors.
I feel like more could have been done. Especially the Haruhi/Lucky Star train. A maybe on FMP since the actual FMP IV we got was very rough. But I mean I feel things could have gone differently you know?

I always wanted a continuation of Amagi Brilliant Park. Great setup and it got the usual season 1 not really conclusion.

Also to add another studio to the list of disappointment, Shaft's latest work I can remember was some gacha shit.
SHAFT's golden years are way behind them and that saddens me.

I finished watching Netflix'a City Hunter and it was amazing, I hope it gets a sequel, the actor doing Saeba is excelent and they kinda adapted the first story of how Saeba's partner and Kaori's brother died.

It was so fucking good and Saeba is perfect on screen as an pervy ultra chad

I started watching Knights of Sidonia on recommendation from a friend. The setting feels interesting the the pacing is well-executed. The show has done a great job at setting up hooks and cliffhangers. I'm currently on Season 2 episode 2 and it's still going strong.
My chief complaint is that the CGI character models are... well, they're not great.

4 episodes into Cour2 of Mushoku Tensei S2 and it's immediately apparent that this cour is where all the budget went.

I mean it's completely understandable considering that this Cour has Turning point 3 and the labyrinth arc.
I like where its going, I also think it's being slow about it. We're a third done with the cour and while I have liked the Rudeus and Sylphie shit... I need some movement soon.
