Doing a rewatch of Serial Experiments Lain and on top of it being much weirder than I remembered it, it's extremely eerie that Chiaki J. Konaka as early as the '90s warned about letting children be left unsupervised on the Internet the Wired lest it steals/sells their souls due to not telling the difference between fiction and reality. Maybe if he was more savvy/courageous he could've had pedophiles/grooming be another reason.

Also warned us about the growing presence of the Feds on the Internet, but that was obvious based on its origins.

We should've listened.

Another interesting cancelled show that got a promo was G-breaker
I didn't know G-Breaker was going to be an anime or that it was related to Gundam. All I know about it is that Okawara did the designs and that they're really experimental (very reminiscent of Mamoru Nagano and Makoto Kobayashi designs). Someone on /m/ scanned an artbook for this a while back: https://www.mediafire.com/?yw9l4vw4n5n2kd4

Here's another cancelled Okawara mecha design: Metal Jacket Squadron. The anime would have been directed by Ryosuke Takahashi at Sunrise.

He had cool original designs for amuro, hero yui and other bandai leads.

I think even char got one. I was reading they have grunt units that blend technology from Gundam and votom.

Really criminal this never got in super robot wars much outside of the dreamcast version of alpha

The "__MACOSX" folder doesn't seem to work for me, did it work for you?

how can a _MACOSX folder not work? just delete it or open the archive on a mac properly. It's Apple's incompetence that their special snowflake metadata doesn't preserve well.

Is there a name for the late 90's to mid 00's art style, the style that you'd see in shit like Lian, Ergo Proxy, GITS, Death Note, etc? They have a saturated color palette and have what I'd call a more grounded, western art style without a lot of the exaggerated hair and faces you can find in more "anime" anime. I remember a lot of these sort of shows being

I got into anime around the early 00's and was pretty much out by 2010 so I have a lot of nostalgia for this period.

I don't think there is. The look is what I personally call the "tween" years of digital animation since it tended to look wonky, though in the late-90's they actually put in effort into making it look good despite not being completely seamless with the rest of the cel animation.

I wish there was cause the late 80s to early 2000s anime style was fucking peak with the amount of time invested in thick linework, color grading and highlighting but its difficult to search for shows with just the year alone. I guess Manga also had an "80s-90s" style considering how many of them started looking like shit after 2013.

It was pretty evident in some shows like Cowboy Bebop having scenes produced both ways.

It's why I don't consider myself an anime fan these days. That peak has passed for me two decades ago.

Are you telling me that DARPA (Military R&D) who created ARPAnet, the precursor to the Internet, has a back door into everything at a fundamental level? Next you'll tell me Iraq didn't have WMDs and we just attacked them to both weaken Israel's enemies, steal their oil, and secure (poorly) the petro dollar's future... but that's just crazy talk.
