DBZ Kai was what I mostly grew up with since we didn't have cable when I was little. When I finally got one of those orange box DVD sets for Christmas, I'll admit, I was a bit weirded out, in fact I liked Kai better, still do. It cut SO much filler. That and MOST of the voices are better. Piccolo is hard core in Kai. Love him.
Can anyone explain to me why this shit is considered good? It's just about the most generic shounen there is. I guess it's got some graphically impressive fight scenes but I actively hate every character involved and want them to die, except Nanami who's genuinely cool but dies anyway. The villains couldn't possibly be less interesting and about half the protagonists share the common shtick of just being massive assholes to everyone. Even the fights aren't that interesting to watch despite the quality visuals because any character can take seemingly arbitrary amounts of damage and getting blown through a row of trees or concrete pillars or some dumb shit, until suddenly the script demands they drop to their knees and begin spouting exposition.
Lack of consequences and lots of asspats lead to massive hubris. TLD.
First time with a WSJ? I mean seriously, JJK isn’t great (although the power system is genuinely some of the best in manga), especially post-Shibuya where it all becomes rushed plot points and useless new characters, but this has always been par for the course. At least its more coherent and less generic than Black Clover. And unlike HXH Gege actually updates sometimes.
They removed any references to Kitsunezuka being gay. They call him an 'okama' in the subbed version. Harimao changed the name of the villian since it was a reference to a hermaphrodite and it had warnings/notes on why homophobia in anime/Japan is bad. They've done other edits to other shows as well. I've mentioned the tranny localizer that works for Discotek and their changes a while back.
Nah, but it is the first time in a while I've been so thoroughly disappointed by something so overhyped and overrecommended to me. Last time was Chainsawman, but I can at least give that extra points for originality and much better coomerbait.

Was Naruto even good? I remember reading the manga when it was first hitting American shores (I've been told the amount I read would be equivalent to like, the first five or six episodes) and just... I was bored almost immediately, and couldn't see why everyone was going ga-ga over this thing.

The manga is infinitely better. I just don't think the series translates over to anime very well.

The movies are all terrible. The only exception is Road to Ninja and it's so meta that just jumping into it, it won't mean anything for you.
Funi was inconsistent with their dubs. Some of them had gay/tranny jokes in the dubs and even the Roberta Blood Trail OVA even had a racial slur in it.
Well they feel ashamed and jealous of those older dubs made by better people, so out of spite like with jello, they over correct. If you feel there's such a problem, pull a looney tunes with the black jokes, put a disclaimer, but keep it in to preserve the intent of the people that poured their hearts into making it. It's not hard... except if you're a crazy tranny.
