Naoki Urasawa feels like Japanese JJ Abrams. Everything he does is acclaimed and he’s vaunted for shit, but everything he writes kinda just insists upon itself.

Pluto is a bad remake of an Astro Boy arch, 20th Century Boys is a mystery box, and Billy Bat is just pretentious. I will probably never read Monster because I’m assuming it’s like everything else where it drags out the plot and just explains shit rather than letting it happen.

Hit the nail on the head. At least with Pluto it tries to sounds very clever but ends up with the morals of "war is bad (but if it's against the USA it's sympathetic)" and "robots are human too (despite being very wonky on their definition)".

The YuYu Hakusho live action thing is out. I haven’t watched it, but I’ve been seeing some clips and, if anything, they are going hard on the physical stunts and fights and all. Yusuke getting hit by the truck is impressive, and there’s this one clip of him drop-kicking a guy in the chest that’s looks like it had to have hurt

He never makes a fucking argument for his points. They are explained away without argument. Gesicht killing the brother never really gets resolved, there’s no actual moment of Gesicht trying to resolve things with Adolf. He feels sad and Adolf is told his brother was awful for doing what the Persians basically did en mass.

Monster is amazing. I highly recommend watching the anime, if nothing else.
Nigga he stretched a plot so far with Pluto that I have no desire to. Everything I have read from him is waffling on actually showing something happening, be it character progression through mental or emotional conflict.

I will give him I bit more credit than JJ because unlike with maybe lost or fringe almost all of JJs series have been forgotten even by hardcore fans where Urasawas work is still talked about despite Monster being 30 years old, Pluto and 20thCB being 20, and even Billy Bat is already 15 years old, and tbh his series has always been this devices, I recall form posts going as far back as the early 00s going back and forth about his series and "it: overrated shit" has been a thing on /a/ for almost as long.

If you don't like any of the above series, then don't bother with monster it's more of the same and it won't magically change your mind. The only things I might recommend (and that's a very strong might) is actually Master Keaton which tldr is just an episodic series about an insurance investigator in late 80s Europe so there's no ending to fuck up or mystery to mishandle

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 revealed a new trailer on Thursday ahead of its January 11, 2024 premiere. The new season will run for two consecutive cours over the first half of next year.

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 was first announced in March 2023. and will be once again animated by studio David Production. Series Director Takahiro Kamei will reprise his position for the new season as will Yuuko Kakihara (series composition), Naoyuki Asano (character designer), Masanobu Nomura (art director), Masaru Yokoyama (music), and Yuuichirou Nagata (director of photography).

The series recently announced new cast members including M.A.O (Iris – Fire Force) as Asuka, Toshiharu Sakurai (Tompa, Hunter x Hunter 2011) as Asuka’s dad, and Kotono Mitsuishi (Misato Katsuragi – Neon Genesis Evangelion) as Asuka’s mom. The original cast from the first season will all be reprising their roles.

The anime arranges some scenes order to feel easier to follow when swapping back and forward between the school and the outside. Episode 11 with school part is the prime example, while in manga school part spreads out from chapter 30 to 35, big bad thing happens first with Kiruko, Maru and Robin in those chapters.
Also hints are implied in both anime episode and manga chapter title.

To help with easier to follow for overall plot, anime removes or adjusts some parts seem to be "unnecessary", but loses some minor character interaction, Kiruko is the most affected.
They add more hints in anime comparing to manga like ep 10 and 11.

Some examples
Honestly, best story ever. It's like a mixture of Gilgamesh, Ergo Proxy, and Parasyte.

Since they showed Inaba, I wonder how early he'll be introduced. I know in the OG version he was in one OVA and the final movie but I wonder if they'll take more time with him in the remake.

Have they covered Yusuke's opinions on Trannies yet? I'm guessing no.

Frieren continues to intrigue. HIMmel made but one mistake in his heroic life - he fell in love with a Ditz. One who can't recognize when a man has feelings for her, even when he is proposing on one knee... poor guy.

In case anyone cares, creator of Yu Yu Hakusho is married to the creator of Sailor Moon

Translation:
Yuusuke: Isn't this one of those low level demons that are troublesome because they can control people? You guys must have had a hard time.

Mercury: Thank you for helping
Kuwabara: What are you saying? It's only gentlemanly to help others in need!

Venus: Your name is Kurama?
Mars: Are you going out with anyone right now?
Kurama: I'll... leave that to your imagination...
Jupiter: You've done a great job killing Youkai with us even though you're just a kid.
Hiei: You... Do you have a deathwish?

Yuusuke: Alright then, we came to this world secretly, so please keep everything about us hush-hush!

Based on this list, what would you reccomend I add to my server for anime?
Bungou Stray Dogs
Cowboy Bebop
Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon, which is yet to air)
Dr. Stone
Jashin-chan (Dropkick on My Devil!!)
Goblin Slayer
Gurren Lagann
Mashle
Mieruko-chan
Shangri-La Frontier
Spy X Family
Suicide Squad Isekai (Yet to air)
Vending Machine

I've heard Apothecary Diaries, Ascendence of a Bookworm, Shimoneta, Frieren at the Funeral are good, yet to see them myself. I'd also recommend Slime Isekai (Slime Diaries is it's spin-off), Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent (Isekai, but shojo) are also good, I liked them personally.
