I know it is a parody of all harem animes, but I honestly thought the first season would be just the five girls in the opening and closing credits. i was not expecting the sixth. I can't wait to see how they interact.

You should check out the manga if you end up missing the show after the season ends. Has that same parody/comedy feel to it, and the harem members continue to get more and more off the wall.

i get the impression that if I can recall a type of girl that a different harem had, that type will show up. Since we have already seen a god as being a canon entity I'm guessing all bets are off the table.

I'm not going to ask for spoilers, this anime is going to be so much better if I never see the twists coming.
The second season should premier October 2024

Typically it’ll be “type of girl from different harem anime AT FIRST GLANCE, but…”, but I’d say you have a good grasp on the dynamic.

The manga is currently up to 27 girlfriends, I believe.

I wonder what happens when he reaches 100? Will they end the series or will god say he miscounted and it was 1,000 girlfriends?

Its a film about accepting loss, moving on and appreciating what you have. Mahito "connecting" with his step mom is the Disney version of this story. And the movie explicitly rejects this comfy resolution by making people forget what they experienced in the other world. So even if Mahito and step mom did connect, that connection would be lost once they returned to their world.

Besides that, Natsuko has nothing to prove to Mahito. This isn't Natsuko's journey, its Mahito's, and Mahito himself is the one who needs to come to grips with his mother's death. Having Natsuko be the one who convinces Mahito to change undercuts his journey.

I believe the mother is there to show Mahito that what he wants doesn't exist anymore. Mahito is a smart kid, but he still walks knowingly into the tower master's "trap." His adventure in the other world doesn't fix him, but he ends the film in a better place than where he started. Like I said in my previous post, Natsuko isn't his mother, but she could be, eventually. He's smart enough to realize that early in the film even if he doesn't accept it until much, much later.

Basically, every girl is a parody/deconstruction of some Harem and/or general anime trope, such as the tsundere, with the crux of the story being taking that idea/trope and showing how it would actually be crazy/stupid/dangerous/impractical in real life, while still making the girl's themselves likeable and adorable. It really pushes the idea that the main character isn't just getting a bunch of trophies to hang on his wall and show off to the boys, but he's helping these people with their problems.

Plus, the level of work he puts in to keep everyone happy gives some of the best jokes in the manga for sure.
 
I read Pluto. Did not care for it. The fact that the female robot was changed to an androgynous dude and I’m supposed to feel anything for “Persians” undermined any message I was supposed to feel.

The anti-robot KKK honestly was actually interesting rather than re-making an Astro Boy plot about a Sultan some edgy commentary about the Middle East.

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Monday that it will release an English audiobook version of Ikuto Yamashita's Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA light novel series, beginning with the first volume on December 14. Tiffany Grant, the voice of the character Asuka in the franchise's English dubs, is narrating the audiobooks.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the books:

What if reluctant hero Ikari Shinji had saved the world? Now, at seventeen years old, he is the de facto leader of the EVA team. Stuff like this makes me wonder how popular audiobooks and audio dramas are in japan. I mean seiyuu culture where fans will flock to something if their favorite VA is a thing and rakugo has a lot of appeal outside of the normal otaku fanbase, so I wonder if there have been a few LN series that instead of getting an anime just got a few well know actors to read a script , added a few sound effects, and called it a day.
 
Anyone watching or reading A Returner's Magic Should be Special? I'm quite enjoying the story and the character are likeable. It's a cool premise mixed with school type drama and politics.
