Muv Luv Alternative one ups NGE in a lot of ways, especially the hard sci-fi and arguably the depressed main character too. I'd argue NGE is one of the most broken settings I've seen in storytelling (teenagers worth trillions of $$$ tasked with saving billions of lives are haphazardly treated, left to their own devices, or even worse, actively antagonized).
It’s been years since I’ve watched it, but wasn’t the implication that the reason why the kids were treated like dogshit because of the AT Fields? Fuck, I swear it was outright stated at one point that they’re related to the Hedgehog Dilemma and super-individuality; the only reason why it’s Asuka, Rei, and Shinji is because the souls of their mothers were used in the robots and in order to amplify them anywhere near the angels they need synchronization.

I’m not saying it’s particularly good, it’s mostly a bunch of half-assed Freudian bullshit, but there is enough coherence to the ideas presented to be interesting. Same reason why I argue it’s a lot of fun to analyze the Christian symbolism even fully knowing it’s bullshit.

>Science SARU

Admittedly I'm not caught up with them manga and while I do like some of Saur's anime, this kinda seems like a bad match up
Didn't Science SARU just do that Scott Pilgrim anime? That was pretty good imo and the animation did a good job of matching it's goofy tone so it seems like the perfect studio for Dandadan.
Muv-Luv Alternative has a large barrier to entry (some people might not like the SOL portion that is Muv-Luv Extra/Unlimited) but once you get past that, it's one of the finest mecha (and isekai) on the market.
I mean, that's where I am with it. I like a good harem romp but I think a VN is like the worst possible way to experience it and playing the first one knowing that there's also an entire second one I have to get through before "the good part" is especially discouraging. Pretty sure last time I played it, I got bored after a couple sittings but it made me want to re-read old harem manga so I just went and did that instead.

What is the rundown on this Frieren anime?
At the start it’s an immortal elf realizing she had feelings for a quirked up white boy she killed the Demon King with and her basically watching over her party members protégés. It’s good, when you get to the older smug loli elf and Macht of El Dorado then it gets really good.

The demons are evil, but a few of them question their existence, but otherwise the memes are accurate. Good fantasy show.

To be fair the start and ending of the second one is already pretty great although it wastes your time for all the middle portion, so you only have one boring harem VN to get through before things start getting good. And it's not like the harem part is entirely pointless or devoid of anything good, it's just really mediocre and far too long for what it is but it sets up some good payoff.

Is there any kind of summary or faster way of getting though it like a manga adaptation or something? I can push through shit I'm not that interested in if I'm promised good shit later on, I'm actually extremely used to it as a fan of Shonen manga. but that in VN form absolutely fucking kills me. I'm the type who can't even make it to page 20 of a book I'm reading if I'm not hooked relatively quickly.

It's also being animated by Madhouse as a 28 episode show, with 4 as the pilot. And damn it's pretty

It's not like there is a lot of important plot to know for the good parts, the harem comedy isn't going to have a lot of consequences on the war drama shit. You talk with a bunch of girls and play Lacrosse with them and fuck the one you pick, standard dating sim stuff. It's more about getting invested into the characters and their innocent lives before things go to shit.

Your daily reminder that Murenase! Seton Gakuen deserves a second season. It’s been three years and nothing came of it yet.

This was a thousand times entertaining than the anime version of Beastars.

It was a fun romp and the protagonist was the "so racist, he learns about other cultures to know how to insult them better". Hina Kino has amazing voice for comedy.

Also the ending is adorable

Edit: Hour after typing it, I find out the main villain in a game I play is voiced by Hina Kino, she does a great child like villain full of spite.

I really do miss back in the day when more anime were actually original and not just adaptions(advertisements) for manga. It makes me feel like a hipster when I have to start hiding that I like something because seasonal anime watching retards are the lowest IQ audience you can have and make everything as cringy as possible. But also the most soulful anime always come from completely unique ideas.

So I just watched the first season of Thunderbolt Fantasy with a friend. Great shit, loved it. Only question is what do I watch next?

The movies? The next season?

And that's not even talking about trying to get into it's inspiration, Pili, which has been running since before I was born.

Dude you have to watch Akiba Maid War it's so ridiculous that it loops back around to being genuinely fantastic. There are still gems that are anime original (off the top of my head the last couple of years had Do It Yourself!, Sonny Boy, Odd Taxi, and probably more that I'm forgetting).

Also who gives a shit what mouth-breathing retards think about popular anime? While it sucks having tourists flock around your favorite things once it gets popular (hell it's happening with Frieren right now for me and will probably happen with Dungeon Meshi next year), it's important to remember that they're TOURISTS. They LEAVE. They probably won't give a shit about it come a month after airing as they've already moved on to the next FOTM thing.

I was able to introduce Ushio & Tora to a co-worker recently, and she's a bit of a normie (how normie is Gintama, just out of curiosity? Would being a fan of Berserk be a step out of the normie realm?). It's all about figuring out one's likes when it comes to anime, and knowing your own shit every time the two of you talk anime. Helps wonders if said-someone is open to file-sharing, as lack of easy-access availability keeps out potential fans if they're not willing (or able) to go the extra mile themselves.

No, I'm not starved for discussion on my favorite shounen, I swears. ;^; I just want the manga to get licensed already.

I skipped the VN and read the manga instead, I started with Unlimited and last year I finished the alternative one. Read the fucking VN, there are lots of elements to feel that the manga doesnt capture.

Should be fine. I don't think Gintama that bad for normie, with all kind of jokes that is, even the innuendo ones, unko - chinko ones. Probably bunch of other manga, games or famous irl people references knowledge for more enjoyment.
Also, only one way to find out true Berserk fan or not.

whats the name
Not the OP, but I assume it's this one. Basically someone higher up doing a "How do you do, kids" with Valorant popularity in Japan.

Is Trigun: Stampede any good? It looks like roosterteeth crap.
I'd say you're giving too much credit for roosterteeth with that comparison. For that RWBY shitshow.

You get much animation flaunting from Orange studio. Camera angles, changing scenes and probably hurt writing (logic sense) in some way.
Whole entire plotline and backstory are rewritten to be shorten in 12 episodes. Would you prefer seeing Vash being more pathetic and kinda wimpy in confronting against his brother Knives? Seeing some villains have some kind of sad backstory or more sympathetic, even Knives. Main characters development isn't much, only about Vash sad-sad backstory explanation for his wimpyness.
Not sure if you've watched Promare. But pretty much entire goal of antagonist side and Vash's true power share similarity with Promare's plot twist/reveal.
Though, there is one thing I like. Million Knives theme.
