Drifting Dragons is a good cooking/ sky whaling manga. It sort of scratches the same itch of Dungeon Meshi.
So what's the deal with SxF, is it comedy, slice of life, romance (or all three bu the looks of it)? I'm 99% sure it's probably not for me but I'm curious about it.
Spy-themed Action/ Comedy in not-Cold War Berlin if I would define it broadly. There are three main characters who each really have their own genre and are hiding a facet of themselves from the family. The basic premise is a Spy forms a fake family by adopting a child and convincing a woman to pretend to be his wife for their mutual benefit.
Anya Forger/
AN-1A is the pink haired girl who was the product of a secret government program to develop psychics/ Espers. Typically her arcs are more slice of life involving getting close to son of an influential family at a prestigious school. She’s not really a wunderkid and is regular child who was an experiment. She’s a 5 year old pretending to be 7 in order to be adopted by the cool spy man.
Twilight/ Lloyd Forager is the Spy of the series. He’s involved in typical spy shenanigans and trying to keep Anya happy in order to infiltrate upper social circles. He’s not really James Bond, he’s more hyper competent, but overworked and is a war orphan who got recruited due to his skills.
Yor Forager/ Yor Briar/ Thorn Princess is the wife of the family and secretly an assassin for an organization within not-East Germany. She’s a war orphan who raised her brother during her childhood and became an assassin as a child to finance their lives. She is legitimately a superhuman, but a very lacking in confidence as her brother no longer needs her and is unsure of where she belongs.
Each character has their own small supporting cast that builds the world. Yor’s brother is actually a secret police officer, Twilight’s handler is a war widow who lost her husband and child, Anya’s classmates and teachers have their own goings on.
The series is actually pretty good at mixing comedy with somber moments. Yor finding new purpose is juxtaposed with Twilight realizing that he’s compromised by his feelings for Yor and Anya to the detriment of of his mission.
