That reminds me, wasn't there another car racing with eurobeats anime besides Initial D and MF? Might of been an arcade game but I do remember seeing old clips of two anime characters racing down a highway, one in a 911 Porsche the other in an old Nissan Z.
Yes, Wangan Midnight. The main character buys a "cursed" Fairlady Z from a junkyard. I think there were only two seasons of the anime. Many more volumes of the manga though. I really enjoyed the anime , wish it was more than two seasons.

I like Wangan Midnight over Initial D. It takes a much more realistic take on street racing like the risks, costs, and reasons to even engage in it.

Yaranai-car?

Also the politics are.... I'm not really in a mood for America Bad, and while the second Gulf War motives are shady as shit, the implications that Saddam was a dindu are pretty disgusting and the usual case of whitewashing one side to make a political point.
What's funny was, the supercomputer Roosevelt who executed the plan was originally a sultan.

This swap to it being a US supercomputer occurred because making the US the evil faction is the easiest way to make the Japanese public eat something up, much like how the final evil weapon was a souped-up nuke.

It's no different from how Law in Shin Megami Tensei is supposedly a criticism of Japanese culture or zaibatsus, but has Christian trappings. It's usually used as a safe way of criticizing Japan without actually criticizing Japan.

i finished watching the first season of Slayers. it was such a fun show. the Animation was great, the characters were all likable and the show knew when to be funny and serious (sometimes both at the same time.)

going to start season 2 right away.

The Getter Robo G manga is excellent. It's a noticeable improvement from the original manga in both art and story. First, the art is unbelievable -- the way Getter is drawn, especially near the end, you wouldn't believe this manga was written in the 70s. G is also a lot cooler than the original Getter in terms of its appearance and abilities; it's bigger, better, stronger, and sleeker. The character designs are nice as well; the classic designs of 70s manga and anime are rarely bad. There's also some interesting lore in here. The action is a lot more ferocious and "hot blooded", so to speak -- in one chapter, the Getter Machines fly into a building! The stakes are higher and the circumstances more dire and heartwrenching this time, which adds to the excitement as the heroes must do risky things to succeed. Overall, this is a classic exciting super robot manga, though it doesn't feel as though it relies on worn-out tropes.

Dancouga Burn, another super robot manga, was also pretty good, though I didn't like it as much as Getter Robo G. The character designs are stereotypical moe "anime designs", a style I'm not a big fan of, although the character design of one of the villains reminded me of a typical Leiji Matsumoto design. There was also a ton of nudity in this for some reason, which put me off of it a little. Additionally, the characters are just cardboard cutouts -- the women all act in an infantile manner, and the male lead is a stereotypical tough guy who lacks personality and somehow looks like a little boy. However, I did think the design of Dancouga was cool, plus at the end of each chapter there were some neat mechanical designs. I also liked the overall story, the especially otherworldly and brutal villains, and the high stakes. The ending was an excellent hot-blooded super robot ending as well (they literally kill an evil god), which is always a good thing. Interestingly, this manga is based on a cancelled Dancouga anime similar to the Daiteioh manga (which I really hope gets translated someday), so I'm glad that we got to have the story of this anime presented to us in some way.

You have to hop on Getter Robo Go. The like 10-15 year gap inbetween the two entries is monumental in terms of art and story scale and it is by far the fan favorite entry in the series.

I have; it's one of my favourite manga! It has such cool mecha; I especially like the Stilva. I appreciate the use of mecha from all over the world, as well as when they return to the Saotome Research Lab. The ending is also an excellent mind-blowing ending.

Looks like normies enjoyed the end of SNK. Can't say I'm surprised, but still.
What did they change? Or did they really go with the cuckbird ending?
I hate action chapters in CSM, I just want to see those two retards interact with anything else.
their date was probably the best thing in act 2 so far
such unadulterated autism
Last chapter was pretty mid but yeah, Asa and Denji interacting was peak.

As for my recent outings. I'm still in a bit of a Romance kick. So read Midory No Hibi (hand girlfriend). I saw the anime ages ago and this thread reminded me it existed. Read it hoping to get some more plot, but I then learnt that it's basically a gag manga with some romance. I had my fun with it, but I think unless you just prefer the manga medium, the anime is a better shout since it gets "to the point" faster.

I also read Blue Flag... and I did not know it was a book about faggotry... Anywho, it started fine, love triangles and all that stuff, then the gender specials start popping up.... but it was pretty grounded, but then chapter 44 comes out and I was about to drop it ... till it suddenly had some pretty nuanced takes basically, the "macho" guy of the group finds out Toma, our titular big muscled gay guy is well, a faggot, doesn't take it well, they get into a fight and then in a later scene, he's with another common friend and 2 girl friends as well as the main character all talking about the situation. At the start it was basically "double team the bigot" from the two chicks and it was feeling preachy as fuck... till the other friend speaks up and patrols the thots showing them how fake and hypocritical they were being

Anybody not interested in the series but curious about what I mean, just read the chapter https://manga4life.com/read-online/Ao-No-Flag-chapter-44-page-1.html I found it refreshing to see a take about somebody coming out and it not all being about "support it bigot".

Anyway, after this chapter I plowed through the rest, then the last 2 chapters shit themselves, go full Fujioshi with the ending and left me wondering where the hell did that ending come from? The series I'd say is pretty solid once you see that it's not all rah rah rah, but the ending frankly ruins it.

Finally, I'm in the middle of watching the anime for Insomniacs After School. Pretty sweet story about a boy and girl with insomnia, and how they help each other deal with it. The romance is incredibly sweet and the colors are a threat. I am fearing a "and the girl dies at the end" setup though since 2 very blatant red flags have been raised and I did not sign up for another Your Lie in April when I started it... also, the issues from insomnia seem to not be shown for the girl as much and I don't know if it's because of her condition or pure oversight in the narrative I'm liking it a lot for now, but reserve recommending it till I finish.

Also, on more smutty picks, I've been going through all of the Symphogear series. It's entertaining enough, but I wish it went harder, I'm at the start of season 4 and I swear the moment at the start of season 2 of "FUCK IT, lets cleave through a mountain to make way for a rocket!" has not been reached again. For anybody that doesn't know, it's fanservice the shounen anime with cute girls doing cool shit while wearing Saint Seiya likeish armors and where most problems are solved by "TRYING FUCKING HARDER!". Oh, and they constantly sing in the middle of battle. It's as brainless as it sounds, but sometimes you just want something like that.

Same reason I started watching bucket list of the dead, though knowing that only 9 episodes are out and it seems to be trapped in production hell kind of kills my interest.

Also in the middle of reading Witch Watch. It's basically Sket Dance all over again (from the same author). It's... ok at best, not horrible, fine to kill a few minutes and if you really miss Sket Dance you will probably love it.
