Wasn't it one of the more subdued/respected harems (or love triangles?) that people didn't mind at the time, but seemed to have forgotten about since then? It keeps popping up on my radar these last few years, hilariously enough, I should get around to it.
 
I dislike that Hikikimori Vampire did a whole "secret super power mode" shtick. Having the show be about the heroine bullshiting others that she is strong sounds way funnier.

If it's a series that's oriented to teenage boys/adult men then absolutely yes. Otherwise it might happen if the director feels artsy.

Anime is different than USA media in that it has a lot of fanservice but actual sex and drugs are off the table, while the USA will not have fanservice (unless it's female oriented) but characters, including underage ones, will talk about how they fuck and do drugs. Then you have French media that has both sex and nudity.

Yeah, but there's lots of anime you can find that's not like that. Most post-2000s anime that's not children's anime (eg Pokemon or Bakugan) is bound to have at least some of it since they make modern anime mainly for coomer losers and horny teenage boys. You have to look specifically to older 70s/80s/90s TV anime, shoujo anime (anime for little girls), and children's anime. Avoid most shounen battle anime (though I recommend the Babel II manga, as it has nothing sexual to it) and ecchi/harem anime.

Here's the Toonami edit of Outlaw Star, which has all pornographic elements removed. I also recommend Transformers: Robots in Disguise 2001, Star Blazers (the 70s English dub in particular since the Japanese version has a harassing robot character), Ulysses 31, Maple Town Stories, Oban Star-Racers, Daigunder, Kino's Journey (the old version is better than the new one), Serial Experiments Lain, Fun Fun Pharmacy, Precure, and Digimon Tamers.

I remember comparisons to Love Hina, some sites call it a serious Love Hina or higher brow or something.

I read the manga rushed adaptation of the Rocky movie. I've never watched the movie, so I dont know how it was adapted.


I love seeing movie to comics adaptations and manga has a lot of old movies that got manga to promote it. Many cases where it will mostly never be translated.

(Still crazy that no one translated the Waterworld manga)

I never knew there were these kinds of manga adaptations. That's cool.
