As I said before, it's essentially an hour long OVA. The only thing I even remember about the movie is how cool GS' painted black & red armor looked. The movie is canon tho, IIRC, so the 2nd season is a bit after that.
That armor was pretty damn cool actually.

They basically took a major arc and made it a movie. It wasn't the most special tbh, but it was better than nothing in 2020 when it dropped, waiting in between 2018 when season 1 came out, and now when season 2 is dropping. You've come in at a good time, because if you weren't keeping up with the manga or light novels, it was a drought of goblin slaying for years.
Yeah, I just got into it, luckily. Same for Shield Hero to an extent, I only got into that earlier this year. The Jujutsu Kaisen wait was real though. A couple others I'm waiting on are Konosuba and Re:Zero.

Same man. Been caught up with Konosuba and ReZero for a while, and now all you hear are whispers that it might be shorter than last time. Lol. But that's what comes with watching ongoing series that came out in the last six or seven years. You just have to deal with a small backlog if you're caught up sadly. But hey, that's what manga is for.

Honestly this might be the best season in awhile. Granted it's mostly new seasons of previously airing shows but really more of a good thing doesn't mean it's any less of a good season.
Shield Hero S3
Goblin Slayer S2
Zom 100
Undead Unluck
Spy X Family S2
100 Girlfriends
This might be the first season in awhile where I keep up weekly watching.

This was honestly one of the best things that I could have read in the past few days. I sincerely hope that more people read this, since it’s really awesome to both watch and read.

Good because tokyopop really did the series dirty when they had it. Can't remember how bad the manga was exactly but the anime was so bad that Funimation getting the rights was actually an improvement.

Fun fact: On the Tokyopop DVDs, you can customize the audio to have the Japanese soundtrack on the English dub and vice-versa. Tested this out, it works without issue.

Still confused as to why Tokyopop commissioned their own music, but the dub voices themselves were pretty solid. FUNi's cast choices were a step down imo.

I have a soft spot for this opening and some of the transitions are cool. I kinda wish we'd have another show like Code Geass that is pretty recognizable and skirts the line of idiotic and awesome pretty well. Every similar show afterwards was either too ridiculous or too boring.
I loved Code Geass, it's perfect schlock that's just interesting enough. I still insist the animators had a running gag where they constantly changed Kallen's breast size on each other to see how much they could get away with.

Kallen and C.C. were god tier waifus as well. Both very recognizable and cool. I wish the animators made an alternate second season, not to make it better but just to show another version of insane shit. I did like the twist that the mom was evil.

Finished the Record of Lodoss War ovas. To be clear, I started months ago, got 8 episodes in, then got distracted. You guys just reminded me to finish it. Yeah. It was a D&D session. Was it the best story in the world? No. But it was pure Madhouse 90's animation kino. Also picked this up for cheap at a weeb shop

Fucking DVD ROM special features lol. Now a days, you're lucky to get commentary in your anime blu-rays. Lodoss War was a insight into fantasy anime as a whole. It feels like a lot of the tropes can be traced back in one way or another.

I'm curious as to whether or not those Record of Lodoss War comics were actually readable.

I remember that the Tenchi Muyo OVA box set from way back in 1999 had extras including a whole run of an American Tenchi Universe adaptation/spin-off comic, which would have been cool except the resolution on the pages was so low that it was essentially illegible.

I haven't checked the DVD-ROM special features, but I CAN check later the normal special features which also have comics.

As for general picture quality, at least for the anime, it's solid. Colors could be better, but it's DVD going through a blu ray player up converting it to 1080p. It's a pretty solid rip in my opinion. Sound is surprisingly good for DVD, which is infamous for compressing it's sound to death, so high marks there.

I remember that comic! The art was pretty good, in that way that late 90's-early 00's American anime fan culture could only produce. Unfortunately, the writing was pretty shitty, in that way that late 90's-early 00's American anime fan culture could only produce. Also, it turns out that it's incredibly difficult to find online for a variety of reasons.

They were similar to early Viz comics, which copied American comic book releases at the time. Around 20 pages of actual content while the rest were ads for Central Park Media releases and anime-related stuff. CPM also had Iczer comics along with Project A-ko, but these were worked on by American artists. Lodoss War was the actual Japanese manga translated into English. AD Vision also did early manga releases in a similar format.

The full comic series is currently on Nyaa and there are a few collections on Archive as well.

I think they also had similar Gall Force and Votoms comics, which I haven't been able to find online. The MD Geist comic is online, I think. Dark Horse published an American Bubblegum Crisis comic, which has excellent art even if the story is a little shallow.

Ah, I meant the Tenchi Muyo comics. I'm just now remembering that one of the plot points was a mailman who was hunting Ryo-Ohki.

The art in the Bubblegum Crisis comics were by Adam Warren, who also did the art in the Dirty Pair comics that Dark Horse produced. He was a pretty prolific anime-style artist back in the day.

Tenchi is a series that takes me back.. lots of memories and feels. I really need to watch them all again.

Oh god.. Ryo-Ohki the WMD of cute! Whoever came up with the idea of a cabbit needs an award or long sentence.. or both! That scene of her singing with Sasami. (I think it was) >_<

They even gave her a human form.. (which is what she was in in the singing scene ^)

There was an anime (or a film?) I saw an ad in magazine in the 00s. It was like a woman with long brown hair and I think a white dress and a red motorcycle.

Does this ring a bell at all
Speaking of does anyone remember a romance anime that took place close to the beginning of ww2 iirc male mc was a dude who resembled harry potter while female mc was a blonde chick with blue eyes ( i think? ) remember watching it on a french channel as a kid.
