Maybe the Hollow ataraxia timeline where somehow no one died except Kirie, every other timeline is semi depressing with some of the girls dead. But in the end their story is finished.
I know, and I gotta read that... doesn't change I want more lol

Frieren anime made me fall in love with the series again. Can't believe it has already been 3 years since. I was a little worried the author is gonna pull a Horimiya with the constant hiatus after the anime was announced, but it did a good job capturing that magic I felt reading the manga.

I remember shilling this everywhere I could back when the first chapter was barely out, even in this thread in fact. Back then I considered this "amongst the best fantasy manga I've seen recently" and it still ring true to this day. It felt so vindicating seeing something you're invested in get the recognition it deserved.

Anyone who is even remotely like slice of life fantasy should watch this right now. It's that good. The opening kinda suck though. I like yoasobi as much as the next guy but the song clashed so hard with the vibe it almost felt intentional.

Cour 1 of Mushoten S2 finished last week, the next season is due to air in April. I think Onimai took most of the budget for Cour 1, but then again the first half of the pre-desert continent school arc is one of the slower parts of the story. All in all they did a better job than I was expecting after watching episodes 0-3, but a worse job than I was hoping.

My only wish is that they do not drop the ball with the next cour, that's when we start getting wacky shit like the robot doll who lives in rudeus' new house, norn turning into a neet and the entire of the teleportation labyrinth arc.

I preferred kara no kyoukai. The magus in the nasuverse are just OP pretentious snobs even for anime and really boring whenever they are on screen. They survive most attacks and don’t even do anything cool with their magic they boast so much about.

It was nice to see a few get cut down to size for once by Ryougi shiki and her deathtouch eyes because something could actually stand a chance against them for once. Though not even that stopped one of them from coming back anyway.

Speaking of all this Nasuverse shit, the best way to read Tsukihime just dropped and it's in your browser odd enough. For those who didn't know, playing the OG Tsukihime was a royal pain in the ass due to having to manually drag the OST files and all of the other hangups that come with old NScript engine VNs. This version is pretty early in dev but its already shaping up to be way better than having to do all of that bullshit

Oh, magus are idiots and scum, for sure. I've watched Garden of Sinners; not my favorite. But I do agree it was satisfying to see her rip and tear a few of these "just as planned" assholes.

I guess why I like Shiro, is that he actually does shit. He doesn't just hide in the Clock Tower all day. His magic is simple, but minmaxed to hell. That and he actually suffers consequences. The man has been nearly cut in half, stabbed a shit ton, loses a arm, fucking died in HF, body turned to swords so ultra tetanus- every time he gets involved, he's like a A-10 Warthog; does tons of damage, but comes home missing half a wing and engine. He feels grounded unlike a lot of magus

It looks neat but the images are half blocked out by the browser and its missing the "skip to next choice" and "You've already seen this part, skip?" option the original had.

My version had that but I'd give it a bit before it finally gets working proper. When it does it'll blow the original way of running Tsukihime out of the water but it's still early in development.

In other words, I forgot how much fun Gunsmith Cats was after showing it to a roommate. Shit oozes with soul and personality.

Weird we don't have a Fate thread here (yeah we have one for the gacha, but that's even more autistic than usual). I like Shirou enough, he has justification for OP power and has different amount of plot development by route, including post game plot development due to time warp nonsense. The magus are usually too ridiculously OP to be interesting, at least Waver is kinda normal and built up his ability.
Shiki (female) is too OP and mary sue (didn't she have like a male personality?) while Shiki (male) is far more balanced to the crazy power level around him.

I mean we have one for F/GO in the games thread, but I agree, a Fate thread general for lore discussions and that shit would be nice. I might work on that tbh.

Magus, like you're kinda getting at, only get interesting when they're focused on and focused on heavily. Otherwise they're fodder for servants and the MC's, or are just "lol, I'm a sorcerer bitch, I have True Magic, but you never see me, but I DEFINITELY exist trollolol" type shit.

Just finished watching girl and her guard dog episode 1. I went into this expecting them to take the piss, they did not, it is almost entirely played totally straight. Ill hold out for episode 2 but I dont think this can fill the Rom Com hole left by sacrificial princess and the king of beasts. It also doesn't help that the male lead at least for now is extraordinarily bland, I expect him to be developed further but it looks like that is going to happen on some kind of romance betrayal arc near the end if I had to guess. Also father figure being romanced by his ward makes it hard to talk about with people and the social aspect is one of the best parts of watching these kind of shows. Overall not recommended.

I stared at this image for a good amount of time and I was going through a mix of either wanting to laugh or just think to myself that someone drew something like this for the world to see.

Issue with Magus is magic in Fate is so nonsensical that even the detective show (which I should watch the second half of eventually) pretty much says that magical crimes should only be based on whydunit. There is flavour text for magic but never really a structure, unlike Shirou "I can replicate swords and enhance them" single shtick. Whether they are good or not is more informed. It would have interesting if it was like Jojo and every mage has his own quirky magic style.

One cool aspect that is sadly glanced over is the whole "only a single child carries the family crest" that can make some cool family drama considering the one case we saw it was a girl being adopted into the rape worms magic family. Though it is pretty retarded considering mages seem very happy to throw themselves into danger, those crests shouldn't survive long.

The Case Files show is good, finish it if u can. I feel some of them do have styles, like rin with her gems, but a lot of that is early fate. Going the JoJo's route and giving everyone unique styles would be best, but we're really kinda just stuck with families having their one special magic, but having a lot of generic shit because it's just been going for so long, and the main focus is the servants a lot of the time.

The funny part about the crest shit is that Apocrapha showed that some families don't give a shit and share it anyway. Sure it's a bit weaker but you get numbers. And yeah, a lot of crests should be gone with all the retarded shit they do.

The fall season is off to nice start. I didn't know the sequel to Initial D is airing this season. MF Ghost is off to a decent start, but I'm not a fan of the hero's car being the Toyota 86/BRZ even if it's a throwback reference to the original tofu guy. The premise of autonomous cars making gas cars obsolete in 2020 is kinda funny. Here's a funny screenshot from the first episode.
