You should still watch the anime. It's some real heartwarming stuff.I actually wanted to watch and read Usagi Drop, but I didn’t know about people really disliking the ending.
That is news to me.

Except this wasn't the case. The protagonist was like: yeah if you dont change your mind in a few years then I will do it, but he was never in active intent to marry her.The age gap wasn't the issue, the issue was that the guy married his (adopted) aunt who he essentially raised as a daughter.
It wasn't even fully incest; the girl in question was only adopted by the main character's grandfather, which, not incidentally, is used in a lot of these "incest" stories to justify the incest after the fact.
The issue was that the guy raised the girl from childhood and was basically her father figure. I think he even legally adopted her. He was, for all intents and purposes, her father for most of her life, and then all that is tossed in the trashcan so he can say, "Yeah, I think I want to fuck her". Basically turning what was once a heartwarming story into a completely different type of story (wife husbandry) entirely.
Which is almost a distinction without a difference. He should have outright shot the idea down. He's basically like "Alright, if you really feel that way in a year or two sweetheart, sure." Like, she's known you her whole life almost, dude. What's year longer at this point? Either you will or you won't. If he really didn't want to do it, he would have just said no, rather than this noncommittal answer. The protagonist was like: yeah if you dont change your mind in a few years then I will do it, but he was never in active intent to marry her.
Not blood related is one thing (see: Clueless) but blood related is a whole other matter. I have not seen Koi Kaze but apparently it handles such things with a more serious flair.Incest is legal in Japan - that's all you need to know. Also there's apparently this mythological/culturological thing that a brother and sister who fall in love together actually are reincarnated star-crossed lovers who were given another chance to be together forever.
Not that I particularly condone incest but Oreimo's ending isn't that terrible compared to even weirder shit some anime do. Trashy and culturologically weird - yes, but not really "horrible" once you exclude some of the culturologically incompatible concepts there.
Like Razgriz said, the guy was essentially a father to the girl from age 6, mentally it should be as bad as incest for the girl to fall for him. At least something like Sesshomaru/Rin started when she's 10-12 and the guy doesn't raise her as much as protect her everytime she's in danger.Looks like someone is not aware of all those age-gap relationship/romance mangas written and drawn by women, Usagi Drop (by Unita Yumi) is just one example amongst many.
Just avoid anything related to the fanbase, it's full of troons and degenerates.Started watching Houseki no Kuni. I think someone in this thread recommended it when naming titles that looked similar to Zom100. I'm almost halfway through; so far it's visually resplendent and the story, characters, and setting all feel utterly alien. I kind of like it, it gives off that "what the hell am I even watching" vibe which in my opinion is something that anime is uniquely good at doing. Also Jouji Nakata is pitch-perfect as the monk dude with vague connections to the primary antagonist.
Toshiki Hirano did a pretty stellar job with Baki. He is considered one of the greatest anime directors by retro fans for good reason; after all he did make Rayearth which is probably the best CLAMP adaptation aside from CCS, and stuff like Dangaioh and Iczer just ooze style, no matter what you think of the contents of each anime.Almost finished the new season of Baki, and of course I'm loving it. It's Baki, what can I say it's one of my absolute favorite pieces of literature in general.
The issues of the show aren't deal breakers but there's a few problems. You just can't animate Itagaki's art style, so a lot of the amazing panels just don't translate that well into the show. The manga is also paced in a very unique way that also does not translate over to anime. The manga will oftentimes have entire chapters between two moments in a fight. This works well because the fights are on physical, mental, philosophical, and sometimes spiritual grounds all at the same time and so it flows well. In anime, the only way to do that is to have the narrator interject with stuff and sometimes it feels rushed.
But overall the show does well with respecting the manga and doing a solid job with it given what they had to work with adapting an insane manga.
My boyfriend has been watching it with me and he just has no idea what the fuck is going on. A caveman fought the US military and then ate a kung fu master. After that some dude imagined he had more joints and punched the caveman so hard it broke the sound barrier and flayed his own arm. And then Baki invents dinosaur kung fu.
Sounds like Attack on Titan to me.Like the author wanted to utterly destroy all of her characters on the way out the door. It was so bad,
tbh I don't even care about the incest angle, because it's still fictional story (least I hope so), so can still get entertainment from the romcom part.Incest is legal in Japan - that's all you need to know. Also there's apparently this mythological/culturological thing that a brother and sister who fall in love together actually are reincarnated star-crossed lovers who were given another chance to be together forever.

when wholesome becomes hentai. but even there or in JAV it's kinda boring tbh since it either knocks out your suspension of disbelief or could've done just fine without it.The issue was that the guy raised the girl from childhood and was basically her father figure. I think he even legally adopted her. He was, for all intents and purposes, her father for most of her life, and then all that is tossed in the trashcan so he can say, "Yeah, I think I want to fuck her". Koi Kaze is the only incest anime I can ever recommend simply because it treats the subject matter seriously, and it was a pretty good drama. I wasn't expecting much, personally, but it somehow hooked me in with its sympathetic nature as the main character didn't mean to fall for his baby sister as they hadn't lived together in like thirteen years or so, and he barely knew her then (she was just turning three when their parents separated). There's a couple questionable moments, but the characters ultimately have to live with their consequences at the end, something that incest anime completely ignore for escapism reasons. Not blood related is one thing (see: Clueless) but blood related is a whole other matter. I have not seen Koi Kaze but apparently it handles such things with a more serious flair.
That's how incest really works. You meet a pretty girl, you're compatible, start dating, having "fun" (of that kind), marry, child has rare diseases, genetics look like shit... bam, you find out that your wife is actually your own biological sister.as the main character didn't mean to fall for his baby sister as they hadn't lived together in like thirteen years or so, and he barely knew her then (she was just turning three when their parents separated)
It's fiction after all, it doesn't hold (and doesn't have to) the heavy luggage as reality does and whatever taboo thing can be simply romanticized. The age gap wasn't the issue, the issue was that the guy married his (adopted) aunt who he essentially raised as a daughter.
You need to be massively degenerate to find your own family attractive, as humanity quite literally has a mental block against it just from living with someone during childhood (so the whole "my not blood related sister" doesn't really work). The case of incest in the real world are usually half siblings. That's how incest really works. All in all, sounds like interesting stuff and may give it a watch in the future.
I referred to "separated at birth" cases. There you just don't have the incest taboo because... you thought you had no siblings. In reality most incest is by pure accident. You need to be massively degenerate to find your own family attractive
As if the higurashi reboot back in 2020 wasn’t the biggest clue the Japanese have gone full retard already. Is this a joke or have the Japanese gone full retarded now too? How the fuck are these writers still getting work? Also is that picture supposed to relate to the annouced live action film or is it from something else? Because not only is a live action on its face a retarded idea, but imagine how retarded you’d have to be to make it based on Shippuden.
Im pretty sure Japanese dont have that mental block. they all look the same so their brains dont form those connections. You need to be massively degenerate to find your own family attractive, as humanity quite literally has a mental block against it just from living with someone during childhood (so the whole "my not blood related sister" doesn't really work).
