Just found out that the official Trigun Deluxe Edition omnibus will be coming out this Decemeber of this year. I've never read it or watched it, but I hope it is good.

Plus, the fourth omnibus volume of Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji came out a few days ago and I recently brought it in the mail. So far, it is still a great year for manga.

Picked up the Canadian isekai because a few people have mentioned it and got to the episode 5 and can't till if this is is just a coincidence or this is actually a refence to a specific IP.
-Human Emperor
-Hates religion
-Hates gods
-Named his most valuable tools after gods/mythological beings.
-Is a literal corpse on a throne made up of lost technology
-Setting is also reveled to be not an other world but terra Earth in the far future where humanity has regress back to the middle ages. maxresdefault.jpg

Probably just a coincidence since I'm pretty sure that the tabletop is the only thing that has a tiny foothold in japan and everything else is completely ignored/unknown and b) that specific twist for the big bad isn't unique to that specific series.

Anyone knows where I can read the Legends of the Galactic Heroes manga for free? most of the sites only have the very first volumes and the ones that have the new ones are untranslated.

FINALLY! the heck anime is coming and its already looking good!
The holy trifecta of good fantasy manga (Helck, Frieren, Dungeon Meshi) getting anime adaptations are the most I've ever been excited for seasonals in a very long time. The animation for Helck is a little stilted, but the fact that it's 2 cours means we might get to the very good parts of Helck or even the ending by the end of the season.
(you also missed the second, more comprehensive PV that dropped 2 days ago lmao)

That's as far as the actual manga is translated. The source material (the novels) are fully translated to English iirc.

I finished the first season of Ippo a couple of days ago and I don't know how people can even compare it to Joe. The closest thing they have in common is boxing but the tone and the focus of the stories are entirely different. Ippo is about Boxing, Ashita no Joe is about Joe. Ippo could probably beat the shit out of Joe though.

I'm pretty disappointed Demon Slayer fell into pretty much every shonen trope. It had a solid first season and film, now the hero is the chosen one with unique super technique (that for some reason split into weaker techniques rather than more specialized ones) with a super sword and farting out new moves every episodes. Also it's pretty much another season of full on fight scene, at least the previous season had more build up beforehand. 2/3 of the new cast is just having their underage siblings killed onscreen.

Also Jigokuraku so far is very unimpressive. It barely gives time to new characters before killing them off and both main characters are a bore, it feels like the author tried to innovate by having the main character already be married, but battle pair manga need an actual emotional connection between the characters.

@wtfNeedSignUp finished Golden Kamuy. Loved it and even though there was a notable speed up the last 10-20 chapters, the ending was satisfactory. What a wild ride and definitely recommend it.

Right now I'm starting Blame! And no idea what to expect. First 2 chapters are already fucking with me.

Anime wise, starting Summer Time Rendering. Definitely intrigued, but I just hope it sticks the landing since mindfuck shows are so easy to screw up.

Anyone have any recommendations? I typically have to shift through like 100 isekai because no search engines have a way to filter out shit and no one labels isekai as isekai. I fucking hate isekai.

What do you like? This way we get an idea of what to recommend. I've been enjoying My Home Hero. Father accidentally kills his daughter's scumbag boyfriend and has to cover it up. Turns out the kid is the son of a yakuza bigshot and things get hectic.

I typically avoid most Rom-Coms because they drag on. I like Jitsu Wa! although Spice and Wolf is also an exception. I don't mind the Fantasy, but with a Videogame Aesthetic shit, but I fucking loathe Isekai it's too into tropes. I like some historical stuff, but I'm really getting bored of Sengoku Japan, I don't hate it just bored of it.

Oban Star-Racers. It starts out as an average racing show with some sci-fi elements, but it gets into quite a bit of good character development and drama. You can watch the entire series on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZtonOhTKwk&list=PLFPKIFqyC_41edFUtp2sJHyfSw3cHrTIP

I also recommend Princess Tutu. Ahiru has a great transformation and a really cute duck version. The soundtrack has lots of famous waltzes and other classical music, which I really enjoy. I also like the use of ballet and the meta-storybook device, which gives the show lightness and elegance while introducing darker themes. The cat character is annoying, though.

If you don't mind something longer or more childish, GaoGaiGar is a great pick -- it has wonderful animation, loveable characters (which include transforming robots), and a good story filled with hot-blooded passion. Gear Fighter Dendoh is another good mecha show -- that the mech is piloted by two boys reminds me of Precure, while the digital animals reminds me of Digimon. It gets into some man vs nature stuff and doesn't always conform to the episodic monster of the week format, which is nice too. It also has a banger song in the soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlgVI3oSZP8

Bride of the Ancient Magus is the only show I've seen that scratches the same itch as Spice and Wolf, a relatively slow-paced fantasy romance-drama with a well developed, thoroughly European setting. You may like it.

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the second season yet, so I don't know if it drops off in quality after the first season.

Also, if you haven't seen them, you may enjoy Amagi Brilliant Park, Hitsugi no Chaika, or Noragami. They're fantasy-comedy, fantasy-action, and fantasy-drama, respectively.

I honestly only watch anime originals or stuff I am a big fan of. Dungeon Meshi is the only anime I am looking forward to. More of a manga reader because I can binge that and then re-read if I liked it.

So i finished reading a manga called sanctuary and i thought it was great! its about two kids surviving the massacre in Cambodia during pol pots regime. they return home to japan and felt disappointed at the state of the nation after surviving hell itself and hashed a plan. one becomes a politician to change the system from the inside. the other, becomes a yakuza to take over the underworld and help the politician. it was a bit hard to follow at times because i dont fully understand how the Japanese government works but it was interesting nonetheless. it also has alot of yakuza action in the background so if that's your fancy, its more of a reason to read it.

funny how the story was written in the 90s and alot of the issues that plague not only japan, but the rest of the world today, is brought up and discussed in the manga.

i was fine with how it ended but i still felt it was kinda crappy Asami dies in the end. atleast the final page was pure kino

Second season, I'd say it's better to watch it in binge rather than weekly.

Well, more like it introduces bunch of characters in school. But with slow pace and nothing much happens, plot moving wise. It's probably hard to tell who the main or side casts are for this arc and what the main plot is. Still, if someone likes a bit more backstory about Elias. there's that and more feelings sorting out between Elias and Chise.

Episode 5 ( earphone - snake hair boy thing) or 7 is probably where I guess thing settles down.

Sunrise's announced it's next mecha series in development. But it isn't a new Gundam or a original IP again.
Its fucking Macross.

If I was optimistic I would hope this could mean 2D animated Valkyrie's again which iirc is something we haven't seen since 7, but I think Sunrise has been slowly phasing out there hand drawn stuff. Plus Kawamori is still involved so no change there.
I will admit, I was hoping for a new Gundam -- I'm really loving Witch From Mercury right now and hope it will go on for a couple more seasons. I'll definitely be sad when it ends.

I'd love it if Sunrise were to make a new entry in the Brave series, but I'm not sure if it would work well with 3D animation -- I feel like Shinkalion would have been a lot better if the mechs were 2D animated. That said, I look forward to seeing Sunrise's take on Macross. I hope they make it cool and stylish, with a heavier focus on interesting sci-fi, battles, and worldbuilding, like Macross Plus was. I hope it doesn't push the pop idol and love triangle elements too hard.

Something like the old first season/movie of Gundam Thunderbolt would make for a good Macross series in the way that it at times sync to the to the action and sort of represented the two leads. Although I kind of think its a tall order to hope for no love triangles or idol shit in a macross show since those two things have pretty much been in every entry save maybe zero but zero was kind of shit.
