And? Doesn't change that the 2003 FMA story is shit, the characters are melodramatic-whiny faggots and it just sucks. Just because the mangaka gives their nod, doesn't mean the shit is gonna be good in the end. An example is this and the new Trigun anime. Least Brotherhood was fun and not a fucking mess like 2003 series was.

Brotherhood's story was shit too but in a different way, let's be real here. To be honest, I always kinda saw FMAB as a lot closer to overly generic action shonen fare and preferred the more melodramatic approach to FMA 2003.

The melodramatic shit is part of why I prefer FMA 2003's story and characters and why I think Brotherhood's story just plain sucks. It made FMA 2003 stand out better.

But I'll admit I'm also a sucker for edgy melodramatic shit. For fuck's sake, I listen to The Sisters of Mercy unironically.

I have a slight lean towards preferring the 2003 anime over Brotherhood, and I didn't watch the shows until 2015, so there's no "but muh nostalgia" there for me. There's pros and cons to both versions and both are universally acclaimed which is almost unheard of for two adaptations to have. Studio Bones took real good care of FMA, and that's all anyone really wanted.

If anything, think we all can agree that the prices for the DVDs/Blu-Rays for both series suck ass and that availability is getting harder and harder to find for bullshit reasons. Everyone who owns one or both series on physical media should hold them close to their chest for as long as possible until Aniplex finally caves in and fixes their damn price tags.

Oshi-whateverthefuck looks like coombait and as Aka-tradition would be, the later part would obviously be shit. May as well pass this season (again)
I have been keyed into Oshi no Ko due to a friend linking me its OP, which they really like.

Did some research into the series. I don't think I care for it. It just seems like pure misery wank buried under the guise of idolshit, and the way the narrative seems to beat you over the head with the central theme of "lies" feels like an edgy teenager gushing and self-validating about their edgy teenage angst. Not to mention the "antagonist's" circumstances comes across like a badly written OC donut steel.

Maybe that's some people's cup of tea. I can't be remotely fucked to agree.

Also I think the only thing both fans of 2003 and Brotherhood can agree on is that the tie-in movies for each series kinda sucked and either show is a better watch than the Japanese Live Action movies.

I liked Conqueror of Shamballa unironically but I do agree that The Sacred Star of Milos and the live-action movies both sucked donkey balls.

The live action movies show that even Japan sucks at live action adaptations. Who thought it was a good idea to try and condense the entirety of Brotherhood (an anime series that had 64 episodes, that could've easily been 70+ episodes if they didn't breeze past the content covered in 2003) into three low-tier MCU movies?

Not sure if anybody is watching it but Magical Destroyers would've been way better if it were made like 20 years ago. For now (I've only seen the first EP), its okay. Also the OP shows that they could do the cel animation style and choose not to, which pisses me off.

Well, this made my year:

Uryu Kamihate has had a rough start to life, but plans to forget it all by achieving his dream—matriculating into medical school. But when he arrives at his new foster home, a working shrine, his dream of a quiet place to study goes up in smoke. Not only will he be living with the three beautiful, lively Amagami sisters—but he learns that he must marry one of them and take over the temple!

Between this, 100 Girlfriends and Rokudo’s Bad Girls getting anime adaptations, I think it’s nice that the manga(s) that I’ve been reading since the beginning are finally getting the anime adaptations that are well-deserved.

If anything, I needed this good news today. :)

Unironically, FMA 2003's story was superior to Brotherhood in every way and only smug midwits think Brotherhood is better solely on the virtue of being a carbon copy of the manga. If you like Brotherhood more because you prefer the more generic shonen style, that's fine and dandy and more power to you.
Bullshit, FMA 2003 completely lost the plot when the Brothers got the thing they were looking for halfway through.

Dante was also a worse Villain than Father by a mile.

I am calm, but your take is shit. FMA 2003's plot takes an absolute nosedive the moment Al gets turned into the McGuffin. When your Big Bad is a discount Orochimaru you are in deep shit.

I strongly disagree with you and even with the flaws in FMA 2003's plot, I still think it is unironically preferable to Brotherhood's plot and characterization in every way. Brotherhood was just too upbeat and generic in my opinion.

But we'll have to agree to disagree then and I'll admit I'm a sucker for grimdark melodramatic shit sometimes.

Ah yes, this one causes quite a controversy on r/manga debate on relationship between knight and doggo kiddo being grooming rather than wholesome.
Is it the usual case where those people can't differenciate affection and intimacy with sexual desire?

It's still early for it, but I really don't feel that the characters act like people. The isekai plot device undermines everything, it makes the siblings virtually strangers who hasn't talked about their previous life for 16 fucking years, and the revenge plot is just a way to make revenging your murdered waifu rather than the person giving you life seem less pathetic.

I'm actually not sure which version of FMA I prefer since it's been 10-15+ years since I've watched either of them, 03 was so long ago that I remember watching it on YouTube in 1/3rd parts.
I have been meaning to rewatch both eventually but I've been putting it off for years, which is odd since I'm more than willing to reread my favorite manga when I get a chance (and I'll even reread ones I consider a bit mid), but I have to feel like I have nothing to watch or do to consider rewatching an old favorite anime.

I'm basing a lot of my outlook on the synopsis of the manga, which I figure the anime will be following the story of. The manga, AFAIK, hasn't ended yet either, but I get this strong impression that it's trying to set up to some gay, penultimate "tragedy" for all parties involved, all because of the story's heavy emphasis on the theme of "lies".

Honestly if you want to get into FMA again, I'd personally go read the manga since there is content in the manga that was never adapted in either version of FMA which is genuinely good, and it'd probably be less time wasting than rewatching either anime.

Wait, really? Anything super notable?

Has anyone watched Yona of the Dawn?
I'm a big fan of it, but I'm wondering what the rest of the kiwis who watch anime think of it.
