I hope you mean UC Gundam, and not G/Wing/X,

I didn't even like the plot synopsis for G, Wing, and X. I'm watching the original '79 Gundam right now whenever I can. I might go in order but I'm not certain yet, my friend gave me a list of all the good Gundams.

If your friend didn't include X they're a dipshit. G and Wing are both dumb fun. X is one of the best Gundam series period. It's a shame it got cut short. It was entirely written by one person and he somehow managed to squeeze a 12 episode arc into 3 episodes and have it make sense.

[EDIT] What was the list your friend gave you anyways?

If they're dumb fun then I'll likely like it. Sunrise is really good at big dumb anime usually.

It's mainly all the classic 80's and early 90's Gundam's, it's a absurdly long list and I don't plan on watching it all. He also told me to watch Iron Blooded Orphans but I hear that one is boring.

Trust me, IBO is boring. To wit- after episode 5, there's little to no mecha action until episode 15 or thereabouts.

G is intentionally dumb fun, Wing is not. But despite that Wing is probably the best bad Gundam series. Definitely a guilty pleasure for me.

I'll check them out whenever I can then, thank you!

How is this a Gundam series, and who thought this was a good idea?

The guy who thought turning Idolm@ster characters into mecha pilots was a good idea (I checked, it's the same director). And the same person who wrote the confusing-as-get-out Lost Village anime that finished a few weeks ago.

That makes sense. That writer, Mari something, is confusing as shit. She's had a few good anime hits but since then she's been overworking herself. At least put effort into a Gundam series, make it wacky fun with mecha I don't care. Don't make it boring that's like a criminal offense.

@Kamen Rider Black RX did a nice long post about IBO that I mostly agree with so I'll just quote it here.

The story of IBO is very weak. There was simply not enough content in it for a 25 episode series, so they padded it out the ass. They stretched it as far as they could go with enough repetition one could easily devise a drinking game for the series. A lot of people tell me that they're focusing on the characters and that should be appreciated, but look at how many times Kudelia goes on about being useless. How many times the show plays "my long lost brother" gig. How many scenes where Mikazuki does nothing but eat those Mars dates. This is what I mean. A third of the series could easily be cut and nothing would be lost.

And while we're on the characters, let's talk about Tekkadan. Once the series gets into space, the whole child soldier aspect gets reduced to nothing more than "these children can't read" and "they're dirty" on Kudelia's part. Beyond that, they act as normal human beings until Biscuit dies. The twist, that they are damaged emotionally, works because the show spends so goddamn long telling us they're more or less normal. Then we get Merribit crying while everyone shows a cult-like devotion to Tekkadan's future ("If I die, I'll make the cult, I mean Tekkadan stronger"). And then in the last episode they go "Oh, they can return to being normal kids."

Child soldiers do not recover like that, and it's insulting on the show's part to say they do.

But then you get into how black-and-white the show tries to paint itself. Gjallarhorn is bad, just look at what they did to the Dort workers. The colony arc actually got the show into hot water in Japan over how it glossed over the fact the workers were threatening violence (with assault rifles and tanks) if their demands weren't met. That's terrorism, and the show wanted us to emphasize with them. "Oh, they were peaceful," doesn't work when they opened fire when Gjallarhorn tried to arrest them for receiving smuggled weapons. False flag operation or not, they were not innocent.

And let's not forget how Makanai set the entire show's plot in motion because he lied to Kudelia to get her to come to Earth, then blackmailed Tekkadan into being his personal armed escort. Is he ever called out for this, or him using child soldiers to get reelected after he resigned and went into exile (following a bribery scandal according to his bio on the Japanese website)? No. We're supposed to cheer for this guy because he helps Kudelia achieve her dream.

The show is very dumb when you start putting together the implications. There's also a lot of off model animation, including cutting and pasting over assets over and over again. Battles are fueled by many highly detailed panning shots, almost everyone jobs to Barbatos, and are too few in number. This show isn't terrible like Aldnoah Zero, but to say it's one of the best Gundams is a complete lie. It's very flawed and hopefully sees improvement in it's second season.

Which they're no doubt doing considering it's lukewarm reception in Japan (ratings were really, really bad in it's second half).

But despite that Wing is probably the best bad Gundam series.

I would say AGE is the best, if you think of it as a parody of Gundam that characters in another anime would watch. That show deserves a full MST3K treatment.

Yeah, IBO. It's a really sad thing of some cool ideas being wasted.

Currently watching the Ace Attorney anime and Lupin III (Green-coat era).

Just started watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and I'm digging it so far. Right now I'm on episode 19, a little over halfway through Battle Tendency. I'm aware that the next season, Stardust Crusaders, is the most popular arc so I'm eager to get to it.

To be honest I wouldn't put Jojo in my Top 10 list (but again, I'm still barely into the series), but I'm definitely enjoying it so far. Those poses, man.

Right now I'm reading "Domestic na Kanojo".

Basically, it's about this high school kid who has a crush on his teacher and ends up losing his virginity to this girl on a whim. His dad ends up getting remarried, and he finds that both his teacher and the girl he boned are now his step-sister.

It's... interesting so far. I'm mainly reading just to see how this is all going to end up, but so far I'm liking it. I ended up laughing my ass off at the end of the first chapter because I only heard about the title and didn't know exactly what it was going to be about.

I just started Diamond is Unbreakable; I've been watching this fucking anime nonstop, lol. I'm taking back my statement, I would put JoJo in my Top 10 list (although not my Top 5). So far Joseph is my favorite JoJo and Battle Tendency is my favorite part. I know in my heart I will never love another JoJo as much as I love Joseph (why is he so based?) but it's possible I might like another part more than Battle Tendency. After I get caught up with Diamond is Unbreakable I'm going to start reading the manga.

He's objectively the best. I absolutely love how he makes up for his lack of raw power with cunningness and intelligence. The fights against the Pillar Men in Battle Tendency were so awesome to me because, while strength did play a part, Joseph ultimately beats them by outsmarting them. Plus, he's just hilarious. His "OH MY GOD," "HOLY SHIT," "OH NO," etc lines in Stardust Crusaders were a highlight of the series for me.

Apparently, Jotaro is the most popular JoJo in Japan while Joseph is the most popular in the West. I have nothing against Jotaro and liked him well enough, but I just don't get how he could be considered better than Joseph. Joseph is like a fine wine; he just gets better with age. Jotaro is just pretty flat to me.
