I mean, fathers are expected to raise their children alongside their wives, so why is it weird for men to like cute things? It comes from that protective and fatherly instinct that many of us have.

Of course, like anything that aspect of ourselves can be warped into something horrible. So we ought to be wary it doesn't lead us down a dark path.
Didn't expect to get insights into male psychology in the anime thread. Interesting stuff.

Speaking of anime terms not everyone knows....

I keep seeing the terms "that show is kino" and "this was gijinka'd" in this thread. The hell is Kino and Gijinka? For some reason my mind wants to say Kino is somehow a corrupted loanword that has something to do with film strips but I think I'm thinking of something else.

@ZMOT Well that explains "Kino" (which I'm assuming calling something "Kino" means its a good thing?)

.... What does it mean when something is "gijinka'd" then?

The reason is the pedo panic in the USA in the 80's that pretty much made it a taboo for men to say they like cute things that aren't animals.

Only for it to later be updated with "it's okay when fags and whores do it", despite them being massively more of a threat to kids well being.

Anyways MiA is great despite the probable insertion of the author's fetishes.

Bazinga.

The whole letting Bondrewd and Wakzyu get away with it is mostly due to Riko and basically anyone who goes into the Abyss treating atrocity as a given.
Yeah but didn't they have the opportunity to destroy that soul-swapping thing that gives Bondrewd his immortality but went "lmao nah" and allowed him to continue experimenting on children?
Why is it that every time a woman picks what we watch, they put on something extremely fucked up or misery porn? Does anyone else have this experience?

“Kino” is just a way of saying “cool”, “awesome” “the shit”, “badass”, ect.

“Ginjinka” is when you take a fully animal or anthropomorphic character like a Pokémon or someone in Zootopia and and show what they would look like as a human or mostly human as opposed to mostly animal. So something like this:

Oh, and speaking of Pokémon of the last four episodes that will have Ash in them, on is focused on Team Rocket and has this as its preview image.

Unpopular opinion, but I hate how Tolkein and his prose are used as a way to shit on any sort of new isekai or fantasy. At times it feels like he's just an excuse to not read new shit.
Weeb's seeing decent fiction piece for the first time and still asking a question like why does it blow most animu fantasy out of the water. Like, idk man, maybe it has something to do with waifus and bugman writing.

So basically... Moemon.

I have to consistently remind myself that Nurse Witch Komugi is a spin-off of Soul Taker because it's some funny shit, and something tells me Soul Taker isn't like that at all.
Honestly, I think that Komugi is better watched after SoulTaker, for two reasons: it's the better show of the two, and it's absolutely hilarious to see all the grim and serious characters from SoulTaker in an entirely different and goofy setting. I got so much more out of Komugi after having watched SoulTaker first.

I will say that SoulTaker isn't wholly bad, but it's also a really weird show. It has a borderline nonsensical plot that's kind of a bitch to follow yet simplistic at the same time, but the visuals are pretty striking and it's got some fun battle scenes. As a friend of mine said, it's the exact sort of show that teenage me would have thought was the coolest shit ever if I caught an episode late at night. Not my least favorite show I've ever watched, but I have no desire to rewatch it. At least it's short, so you can power through it in a day.

Fun fact: SoulTaker was dubbed by Ocean, but ADV got the license to dub Komugi. Knowing that people liked the Ocean dub's actors, they managed to get all of them (except one I think) for the Komugi dub as well. Really is a shame ADV went under and we're left with garbage Funi/CR dubs for nearly everything.

So it’s like Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu.

I don't know man, at least anime writers can make an actually decent television adaption.

Frankly, it's like trying to take somebody to what you'd consider a new nice restaurant and having to listen to their muffled complaints as they refuse to unlock their lips from around Gordan Ramsay's cock.

My experience is being the woman in that type of situation.
You should stop doing that.
We let you choose out of the kindness of our hearts and also because last time I chose some years ago, I showed the chick Dr.Stone and she never called me back and I don't really want that to happen again yet you torture us with uncomfortable bullshit. Like pick fucking Frutis Basket or NANA if you wanna be the "good taste girl."

We just like making our man squirm.

For real though, I just put on whatever I'm in the mood for, I just have the common courtesy of asking for permission first if I'm watching it with someone. Maybe that's your actual problem, you don't check to see what your girl's wanting to watch.

Does anybody else find it weird when other men are really into moe stuff? I'm not trying to be a dick but there's something that's just sinister and disturbing about it. I don't hate moe, I liked Dragon Maid when I watched it with a friend a couple years ago but there's that type of dude (like Digibro) where moe is like their favorite thing and that just kind of skeezes me out.
Feel free to shit on me for being a Shonenfag and having the same taste as 15 year olds if this offends you.
I think its somewhat akin to consolfaggoty but more retarded then anything else.
It's fine to have a favorite/least favorite genre that's normal, but since you mentioned digi I swear he had a whole rant about how the worst moe show was still better then the best shonen because [insert retarded pedo tranny reasoning here]. It does remind me that years ago there was a decently size stigma against mecha where some weebs refused to watch anything with giant robots in it and more recently a few yuri fags have been leaving there containment board to post how stuff like WSJ will embrace it soon and a couple webtoon shills that spam how gookshit will be the future of anime.

The difference IMO seems more normal somewhat adjusted weebs are able to explain why they like a moe/whatever show because of the show itself, borderline schizos like digi are only able explain why its "good" because of its genre.
