TBH I'm not sure what's worse, when people tell me a show has questionable content or when people oversell a show.

Inevitably praising a work too highly--with takes like "best storytelling not just in animango but any medium"--is more likely to just make me think its overrated. Especially if its relatively modern since people could still be riding an emotional wave off of the thing--I call it the New Toy Syndrome. You really can't objectively call something "the best" until its had time to settle.

I highly doubt any anime in the last ten years could have storytelling to compare to someone like Tolkien or Osamu Tezuka on his best days though, which rules out "the best" right there.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not refusing to watch or read Made in Abyss, I just currently have a lack of interest.
the point was actually that your opinion has no value, stop sperging

While I wouldn't call MiA the best masterpiece ever. When it comes to the top ongoing manga fantasy Dungeon Meshi, Magus of the Library, Primal Gods in Ancient Times, World End Solte (though that one is my bias for the author, its fairly new, I know, Biscuit Hammer was a crime.) it's up there and it's downright silly to say that it's world building isn't at least a bit interesting.

Unpopular opinion, but I hate how Tolkein and his prose are used as a way to shit on any sort of new isekai or fantasy. At times it feels like he's just an excuse to not read new shit.

Anyway, this is secretly asking for other good ongoing fantasy. I've read Witch Hat Atelier. It's alright.

To be fair I was just saying that when you call something "best of all time" you logically have to be including him in the comparison.

I do agree it is unfair to compare every fantasy to him. Something can still be worthwhile without necessarily being the best thing ever made.

Does anybody else find it weird when other men are really into moe stuff? I'm not trying to be a dick but there's something that's just sinister and disturbing about it. I don't hate moe, I liked Dragon Maid when I watched it with a friend a couple years ago but there's that type of dude (like Digibro) where moe is like their favorite thing and that just kind of skeezes me out.
Feel free to shit on me for being a Shonenfag and having the same taste as 15 year olds if this offends you.

I mean, it depends.

I mean, I like watching cute kitten videos, and hell I was a cat owner for decades because they're just so damn cute, and real little kids can be adorable. And sometimes after a bad day, you need some cute images to help you get back to a positive headspace.

But if the people you're talking about are specifically giving you vibes like they might be getting some sort of sexual thrill from it, then I can understand getting skeeved out.... and I mean, yeah it is kinda weird if your a man and moe anime is the only anime you'll watch.

I haven't paid much attention to people whose main thing is watching moe or CGDGT shows to know if they're all crazy, though given the otaku demographic that the modern anime market chases after (grown men dumping their money on statues of girls), it wouldn't surprise me.

From what I heard, Digibro was poisoned from childhood. Dad wasn't involved in his life and he got brainwashed by "you have gender dysphoria!" narrative. He got hooked on porn and weed which addled his brain. He made friends with worldly folk who never told him to stop and reinforced his world view of himself. Trooning out was the nail in the coffin.

Talking extremes, I figure it's either you're super into lesbians, a tranny incel that lives vicariously through moe sol because they hate real women, or you're the type who likes that sort of show as a vacation/hobby brochure but never commits after the show is finished.

A man liking cute things is not as bad as you're making it out to be. Hell, some of the world's strongest men who can kill people with probably a fart, are into cute things.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who played The Mountain in GoT, has a pet Pomeranian named Asterix he loves.

The guy who beat him next year, Martins Licis, is the 2019's World's Strongest Man in the world & is well versed in biomechanics & programming, he wears ahegao jackets with pride.

Here's 2020's World's Strongest Man, Oleksiy Novikov, guy's in the military & pretty much a borderline-manlet by bodybuilding standards.

Picrel above are considered to be the strongest men in the world. If they can like cute things without shame, then any man can with pride. Obviously, some lolcows like Digibro are there, but why should one fish souring the waters mean all fish have to suffer?

Cute girls doing cute things is an extremely kino genre & moechads are simply based for liking it.

I mean, fathers are expected to raise their children alongside their wives, so why is it weird for men to like cute things? It comes from that protective and fatherly instinct that many of us have.

Of course, like anything that aspect of ourselves can be warped into something horrible. So we ought to be wary it doesn't lead us down a dark path.

Yeah but like, I really like dogs and puppies lmao. I think liking dogs is a pretty masculine trait, they're man's best friend because there's just a natural connection between a man and his dog to the point where dumb sluts find it weird when you value your dog more than them and would easily pick the dog over them in 98% of situations even if you've been dating them for a while. I don't think that's the same as being into fictional caricatures of little girls.

The point is men can like cute stuff. Also, it's just fictional cute girls doing cute shit. It's comfy to see, I might be massive shounen-shitter & isekaifag, but I can also watch rom-coms & moe anime to balance it out. Hell, Bocchi is moe anime, & people loved it for it, alongside other reasons.

Also, some of it can be just cute girls doing badass things too, like Tanya the Evil. Hell, this is literally from a manga I completed 10 mins ago. Tachiyomi is broken for Manga Miso, & I can't upload it here in any other way apart from retarded webp. extension.

I like the camping show and the Woodworking show. Its chill and they real put in alot of work when it comes to detail. sometimes there is to much boring cute stuff and i have to skip a couple of scenes. I think the Honda motorbike ad show is also this genre and i think that show was one of the best in the last years.
That show combined the typical activity focus with a very good coming of age story, also the Supercub is a rad little bike.

I also dont think those shows are about cute girls, they are propaganda by the Japanese Government to go out and do stuff.

Moe could be many other things, mainly chibi stuff like most Kadokawa sideshows, Isekai Quartet, Isekai Nonbiri Nouka or even my personal favorite, Pui Pui Molcar.

Super Cub was great, it was unironically kino with all the tone changes. I can't believe I suddenly became a fan of a moped through anime.

Also, even if the propaganda part is true, I'd take indirectly telling us to "touch grass" over this:

Yeah, its the government to tell us to be normal...

Is there a MOE about model train building?

Yeah, its the government to tell us to be normal...

Is there a MOE about model train building?
Not about train-building, but there was an online manga & novel about the Chuo Line of trains getting gijinka'd in 2009. Also, it's about boys bishie boys instead of girls.

The show has a few gross moments, like the little girl being strung up naked as a punishment by her teacher in one of the early episodes. Or the toilet that licked clean the girl's butt in season 2. Or that other girl who was used as a sex slave in S2. Or as aforementioned, Reg (the boy robot) being strapped in a chair with that tube connected to his bottom. But that's it as far as the explicit stuff goes (aside from the gore). But I can't help but wonder. How many times does the show bring up that Nanachi (the furry teddy bear girl) "smells good"? And I've heard about the manga.

I would recommend watching Made in Abyss S1 because it is one of the few visually imaginative fantasy anime to come out in the last decade. They travel down through multiple layers of an underworld, climbing down sheer cliffs, exploring upside forests growing out of a cavern ceiling, and getting attacked by bizzare monsters. The first half of season 2 was interesting as they explored the village of hollows, but then the second half was really boring. Also, this show has some strange morality where mass murderers get off scott free and the heroes are on good terms with them.
The whole letting Bondrewd and Wakzyu get away with it is mostly due to Riko and basically anyone who goes into the Abyss treating atrocity as a given.

Nanachi is the moral heart of the team. She basically hates everyone even if she is amazed by the Abyss. Riko is enraptured by the Abyss and admires Bondrewd for conquering it and Wakzyu for wanting to challenge it.

Reg also is a cry baby who basically hates everyone he meets and is more human than Riko who is a zombie instinctively seeks the Abyss. Nanachi has a emotionally complicated relationship with a man who is no longer human, and loves her effectively unconditionally.
