Some new info on the death of Kazuki Takahashi (mangaka of Yu-Gi-Oh) has come out, & apparently he didn't just drown, but drowned saving 3 people from a riptide.

Despite the animation being basically just clipart I've been enjoying Human Crazy University. Definitely didn't think I would from appearances alone but glad I checked it out.

Also Chainsaw Man is pretty cool

Doesn't look like there's anything interesting for the fall season.
You don't like Iruma and Mob?!

I'm not as sad knowing he died a hero.

>that apparently killed a well-known Japanese manga artist
For some reason, my heart turned black after reading that. It makes it sound as if he was just some obscure, niche artist that’s only heard by a small amount of people.

the people who hype it up have never read the manga and build this fantasy of what the series is like and i can not help but too smile, thinking how that illusion will get shattered in a few episodes.
I'm not interested in CSM but this reminds me of how in the time I've spent browsing /a/ and some discord servers with friends, 9 times out of 10 when people would post fanart or comments it was about waifus.

Im just asking about the hype. We all dunk on Hype Culture yet every industry, especially the anime industry, can't seem to stop hyping up even the most basic shit.
IMO the only anime that truly lived up to the hype was Kill la Kill, it remained kino to the end. Maybe it's bias on my part because I was on the hype train from the day it was announced and watching it at the end of every school week was what I needed, but it was something I remained excited for its entire run.

The second half of the show also was airing at the same time that goddamn Pupa first aired, and that was also hyped up, but that was such a train wreck from the word "go" that eventually the hype became "How could DEEN fuck this up even more this week?" Was the yin to Kill la Kill's yang, never felt that again since and I still have that Pupa scar. It's rare I jump onto a hype train anymore, last ones I was a hype-simp for were Detective Pikachu, the first Sonic movie, Higurashi Gou until that first episode came out (and oh God was that one a burn), and currently One Piece's Elbaf because that's been a long time coming and we're still not there yet.

Is the anime of Golden Kamuy recommended? I tried to read the manga, but I just can't really stand the format.
I personally didn't care for anime adaption, didn't have the impact the manga does plus season 1 and its cgi bears, but I've heard that it gets better as it goes along.

So i once again found something very stupid that could be fun! an anime about gangwar between maid cafes. its only on episode 2 or so and i hope it stays grounded and get atleast 20ish episodes.

Been a while since I picked up a new series so I decided to start reading Jujutsu Kaisen. Goes without saying that avoiding spoilers is tough. Chainsaw Man looks neat and I figure I'll check out eventually, but much like JJK, I need to scroll past a lot of spoilery stuff I come across.

Watched the first episode of the Urusei Yatsura reboot! As a long time Rumiko fan, I came in and still remain cautiously optimistic, but beyond the surface, it's got a slightly underwhelming start. 7/10.
PROS:
  • The OP is a banger
  • The animation and art are fluid and more detailed; a wee bit too bright but it's a minor nitpick
  • They gave Lum's father more personality
  • Voices were pretty spot on; hell, Lum's parents being voiced by the original Ataru and Lum were some nice Easter eggs
  • Lum's arrogance was also downplayed, though she was softer in the 80's adaptation to begin with

CONS:
  • Too rushed, especially the second part which is almost forgettable
  • Social media modernity, at least in the OP
  • Humor is hit-or-miss; despite being a direct adaptation of the manga, I don't think the director understands how slapstick works. Gag humor doesn't always translate well to English, so it's not the studio's fault.
  • Generic soundtrack
  • Lum's infamous bikini yank was censored, but it's not the end of the world. Broadcasting laws are constantly changing, even though the show's airing in a late night time slot.
  • No fangs :(

Urusei yatsura was really good, I liked how they used 80's technology in the actual series, since most of the stories wouldnt work in a nowadays setting. I really liked how they gave all the colors to Lum's hair when she uses her power.

Also I was surprised to see how Kamiya's voice fit Ataru, since all the sleaziness of shinji matou really fits him.

And of course: the best girl will be voiced by Sawashiro.

And holy shit the opening was fucking cool.

I hope they adapt beach chapters, those were my favorites

I like both the CSM anime and the manga. It’s stupid to get caught up in hype for something you haven’t experienced, sure, but it’s just as stupid to shit on a thing so heavily just because the animation wasn’t exactly how you wanted it to be either. The CGI was a bit iffy at times, but it was also really good at parts too.

I’m also not to bothered because it’s just the first episode, and some of the best stuff happens later. Hell, there’s one particular bit that if they mail, it’ll be one of the best anime bits ever.

????

Could have toned down the blatant social media modernity
So everything literally needs to be modernized, huh? Ugh. Hopefully it's not so distracting and pointless like it was in Banana Fish. 'Cause like Parasyte had such amazing direction that the modernization of it wasn't out-of-place, yet somehow no one else can do it as flawlessly.
