Dude, I started this like two weeks ago and I'm on Volume 19 now.

I LOVE it. The style is so sweet. The characters aren't anything to get crazy about, but I'm enjoying it a lot. 8/10 from me.
 
The Fujisaki LoGH manga adaptation's art is absolutely terrible. Avatar related is young Reinhard, which is actually one of the more decent designs. So help me God if IG uses these in their new LoGH project.

Finally decided to watch some anime again. This time I'm going through the Hellsing Ultimate OVA.

I watched that somewhat recently. it's pretty good, but partially because it's so incredibly over the top edgy, which makes it kinda hilarious. Especially edgelord2000 (Alucard) himself. Guy is like some 12 year old's godmode OC. 'NO YOU CAN'T KILL MY CHARACTER BECAUSE ACTUALLY WHEN YOU SHOOT HIM A MILLION TIMES HE JUST LAUGHS AT YOU AND THEN SHOOTS YOUR HEAD OFF!'

Also count the amount of times where Edgelord2000 fights and doesn't get turned into swiss cheese before he actually does anything to win. You won't get very far.
 
What's funny is that my favorite episode of Ultimate is one that barely involves Alucard at all.

I'll give you a hint:

"HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN SOMEONE FUCKS WITH YOUR HEAD???"

Kouta Hirano's previous work consisted of military-themed one-shots, hentai, Nazi-themed hentai, and Catholic-themed hentai. Even Hellsing's prototype was hentai. He isn't exactly the best author when it comes to making decently-written characters.

and I still love Hellsing regardless
 
Anyone else into Dr. Slump? I recently watched the first five movies courtesy of the official subbed DVD, and even got the soundtrack.

It's by the same creator of Dragon Ball, just in case you didn't know.
 
I'll admit. I read Umaru. It's just bite-sized doses of charmingly cute stuff that gets me right in the chest. Plus the lack of incest is refreshing nowadays.

But when they end a chapter on a cliffhanger, I start cursing the short length.

Also was able to shut a Gundam SEED fan down the other day by pulling quotes that painted it in a less-than-successful light. Dude couldn't even argue back.
 
how many kiwis are 2D idolfags? i love The iDOLM@STER (as far as 765pro/Cinderella Girls/Million Live! goes) and kind of want to make a group for discussing it. or maybe just a general 2D idol group. i don't really know anything outside of im@s and Love Live! though

And speaking of Gundam. I need to complain voraciously about IBO. Now excuse me while I do nothing for the next month before I finally state my complaint.

If it makes you feel better, IBO isn't doing so hot in Japan. We have ratings up until episode 18 and they don't paint a pretty picture. Basically, the ratings average currently stands at 2.31%, with the most recent episodes pulling in under 2%. Episode 18 pulled in a measly 1.3%.

For reference, the part of AGE where Kio turned into Kira yielded ratings of 2.25% and AGE as a whole averaged 2.56%. G-Reco averaged 1.8%... airing Tuesday at 2 am (2% is considered huge for a late night anime)! IBO is on one of the most sought after timeslots in Japan, Sunday evening, it's ratings are that low. And Yugioh airs right after IBO and pulls in noticeably higher ratings, so I doubt kids are streaming it or recording the show.

Yet people insist it's doing great and take GundamGuy at his word that it's popular in Japan and getting a second season.

Unicorn is actually going to be airing on TV in April, right before Super Hero Time on TV Asahi. They're turning it into a 25 episode series, presumably because Brave Beats bombed and is getting canned.

Speaking of AGE, I'm at the part where Kio's on Vagan. I did not expect the show to be this unintentionally funny.

And I'm going to treat it like it's a parody making fun of Kira. I've pretty much treated all of AGE like a parody (like an anime-within-an-anime type of show) and I've had a pretty fun ride thus far.

I'm caught upand I keep forgetting to order the newest volume, I still like physical media. I'm still bummed out that my local comic book place closed down so I can't just browse while driving home.
