Saitama turning back time like Superman felt like a cop-out but I'm still very happy with this arc overall. Once it's good and finished I think I'm finally gonna read the rest of the webcomic cause holy shit this arc took forever and I'm finally getting impatient.
The webcomic actually isn't that far ahead of this arc. ONE does the webcomic as a hobby and he's apparently been busy directing the manga adaptation and a movie adaptation.
To my understanding, the webcomic deviates from the manga quite a bit.
Actually not all that much. It looked like it was going to diverge hard for a moment there but Murata just pulled a fast one on us to add more emotional stakes. Compared to the webcomic, it mainly just fleshes out the events and characters more while still eventually hitting the same story beats. The first instance I could find of it leaving things out was the current arc, and Murata ended up spending months going back and filling in all the little side plots that he had initially skipped over.

Stories about adventuring through bizarre dark fantasy settings are right up my alley and cool shit like this makes me want to watch/read it but then all the rape and body horror I hear about scares me away.
Honestly, the reaction is just a bit over exaggerated imo. Its a made for television show after all, not Genocyber: Child edition.
Regardless, the soundtrack is worth checking out on its own.

I hadn't heard about Devil is a Part Timer's plot until now and holy shit what am I missing because it sounds fun. Looks like it has great ratings too. And the blu ray is cheap.

Debating on that vs Food Wars (though I know Food Wars is more....uhh........raunchy?)

I guess Yor Briar or Yor Forger is popular or the current thing.

I've always found AOT cosplays amusing. Canonically, there's only one ethnic Japanese main character which is Mikasa. It's even plot relevant because it's why her family was attacked by human traffickers. However, all the Asians cosplay as AOT characters, and all of the non-Asian weebs cosplay as characters from other series.

Was it some massive tonal shift or did the “wrong” characters get together?
The latter, but it has another element to make thing even worse.
The text and background colour are kinda bad.

I think it was the latter, I had a context for first-timers, but I have to find it (the manga ended a while ago).

It’s always who ends up with who that anyone cares about when an anime ends, which means it’s always gonna piss someone off.

As for who he ends up with…speaking as someone who never watched or read it and only saw clips, I kinda already assumed that was going to be the final pairing. Was it that shocking to people?

I'll just add that there's no rape. One character with some in an implied backstory is all I remember, at least
The body horror is very novel stuff if that makes a difference; even if you're squeamish it's extremely worth it, anyway. It's is one of the best series I've seen/read.

Well, it definitely made lots of people upset or disappointed from what I've seen. Not excusing for death threats MATI kind though.

It's mostly how people feel betrayed by the writing. Putting elements (Alas=Ramus), writing and character development gives implication that Maou guy would end up with Emi (loser). Only around vol 16 onward til the end, Chiho gets "Mary Sue". Which some or most people think it's lame. costing other characters' time, characterization and chapters felt rushed.

And the may or may not pseudo-harem/polygamy thing at the end, Chiho tells Maou guy Emi also loves him, but like after 3 years settling down. She says because he's a demon king, so it's okay for him to have many wives but she won't give up the number one spot.

It doesn't help it happens in the first minute. Also distressingly amount of events involving pooping/having things inserted or extracted from anuses. I forgot how creepy the village of the Hollows was, it's on the right edge of building up potential catastrophe but not being malevolent enough to make you think you know where it is going.

Usually you'd assume the main heroine gets the lead. At least it's a character you remember rather than like in The World God Only Knows that still gets me salty.

Is the Maison Ikkoku anime worth watching? I'm split between reading the manga or watching the anime and I heard the anime had a Gilbert O'Sullivan song as one of the OPs and I like most of the Rumiko Takahashi stuff I've seen so far.

Also Casshern Sins looks interesting and the OP is sick. Is it any good?

Only in one episode, and it's not on any of the international releases. It's a lot more grounded than most of Takahashi's stuff, but maybe you'll enjoy it.

If you like realistic seinen romance/coming of age where the love interest plays hard to get but ultimately concludes with a great payoff, definitely worth a watch. If that sort of genre is up your alley, also worth checking out Great Teacher Onizuka.

Uncle From Another World is harder to watch than Made in Abyss. The uncle is basically a mega autist that doesn't get obvious lusting after him. Also pretty sure the tsundere archetype was pretty well known even in the 90's. 2004 was more when that archetype became a massive thing by Rie Kugimiya.

As someone whose read Crossed a couple times, i don't mind ultraviolence but the way the characters look like they are 8, i can't help but think in reading some hurtcore garbage from a nonce.

Shame because the concept sounds pretty solid.

Everyone knows the only reasonable way to end your harem anime is Tenchi style where you find out that polygamy is legal and all your sister-wives are cool with it.

I dunno, I'm dead inside and I still found Riko's Arm Adventures and Prushka's fate pretty rough. I think the cool world building offsets it to a massive degree but it's still too intense for a lot of people. If it wasn't really, really good I'd say it was edgy for the sake of being edgy like Elven Lied but the gurololi shit is wielded for maximum emotional effect to reinforce that Riko has ABSOLTUTELY NO BUSINESS being in this fucked up hellpit so it gets a pass.

Just here to say what happened to Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer was fucking murder. Legit fucking slideshow animation and paced in the most retarded way possible.
I'm fucking livid.

I remember a rumor that when the manga was at it's peak there were rumors of an anime but Mizukami wanted peak Gainax + The Pillows for an OST and that wasn't going to happen. So I got to ask why the FUCK did they make an anime over a decade after the fact on the budget of a stale pack of instant noodles? It's not like his current manga (Solte the Traveler) has a snowball's chance for an anime considering it is getting chapters on a seasonal basis. Who the fuck greenlit this tripe?

I hate Japan so much it's unreal.

That said otherwise this season has some good stuff so I can only be so mad. Yofukashi in particular is fantastic and reminds me of old Shaft in all the right ways. Shadow House is also a fantastic manga, no clue about the anime or if I'm going to watch it yet.
