Shield Hero season 2 is ending and I have to say I renege on my earlier comment about it turning around mid season. It still sucks. No epic underdog plot, no real challenges for hero and crew. MC ends up being a side character and antagonist is just an otaku edgelord.
It's such as massive shit-show, that it became nice to laugh at it. There's only a few good moments, & the more I learn, the more it feels like they just butchered the adaption.

I would say I kept up with the manga but the manga turned into such a convoluted mess that, coupled with the slow update schedule, I would find myself reading a new chapter and wracking my brain trying to remember what the hell was even going on. It just felt like they kept in throwing new plot points and characters faster than the story could acclimate them.

I only watch this show for a few good things & some characters & knowing their later fate due to being spoiled makes me just go away from this series, & I have massive completionist autism (I binged 72 hours of a show I hated).

I don't think it's that bad. It's definitely a bit rushed this time around. Like, Kyo being revealed to essentially be just a douche who got isekai'd could have been foreshadowed better. But, the animation itself is usually pretty good and I do like the voice performances quite a bit. The cast just has a good vibe. But, I don't have anything to base it on. I've yet to read the manga or the LN or anything.

I did like when the Rage shield made Naofumi go full Elliot Roger for a brief moment though.

I started the Netflix remake of Spriggan today as well. It's kinda like Parasyte in the sense that it's an adaptation that's coming way, way too late. But, the aesthetic is really good here. And it's pretty violent. I should rewatch the movie. That was the first anime movie I saw in a theater as a kid when it had a brief theatrical release. I dragged my mom to it and she was utterly shocked by the level of violence. It was great.

166 of One Punch Man is amazing. Looks like God Garou has killed Genos, rips out his power core and tosses it to Saitama. Blast fights Garou and Saitama becomes enraged and fights him too. Garuo is copying both Saitama/Blast's attacks. Dude is 💪 looking forward to the next chapter. Not yet translated so I'm missing context.

It is translated. Go to r/OnePunchMan or r/Manga

I actually admit there are some good parts, & probably the best part of the whole series being Naofumi becoming based, but then I remember that this is probably the only instance it'll ever happen.

I just read it cause I was a bit behind(apparently the room chapter got retconned into God Garou) & I loved it... Until I got a realisation about God Garou. Now I love it even more.

My kids and I just watched the reboot of Devilman Crybaby. The artstyle and music were very similar to my favorite anime, Kaibab, bug the story was insane. Masaaki Yuasa is a genius, and he should have his own version of Studio Ghibli for twisted animation. The part that really got to me was Taro eating his own mother.

The 2018 Netflix version? Was a Rollercoaster, has a depressing ending.

I wish it looked closer to the manga's style. Some of the characters looked too similar to one another and it made it hard to pick people apart sometimes. I didn't quite like some of the changes that were made to the story, but I didn't hate it. The sex and desire stuff just felt like a bit of a rehash of elements of Devilman Lady. Not the worst adaptation of the Devilman manga at least. Since the live action movie is a thing that exists.

Shintaro kago anime announced. What a time to be alive
Pretty hype for this. Expecting some trippy shit right here! According to the article, the anime will be an experimental short based on Biblical tales.
Is BLUE GIANT any good? The anime movie poster looks interesting and I'm a sucker for Jazz music.

This is a GREAT manga! It follows a dude's growth from his teenage years to his adult years as he develops his musical skills in the genre of Jazz. The first series has been fully scanlated while the second series is on-going, and there's already a third series. Highly recommended!

As much of a 'holy shit' moment killing off Genos is I don't see how they can possibly commit to it unless they're planning to do a hard break from the webcomic. To be honest it almost feels like they're either going to pull a bait and switch on that or they're gearing to end the manga much sooner than the webcomic, especially given Garou's sudden change into a world-ending threat powered by what seems to be the big bad of the entire series.

Revisiting Bitter Virgin.

I kinda forgot how fast the pacing is, but otherwise, I can't help but love the general vibe the series has. It manages to balance humor with the really grim subject matter in a way that feels realistic. Normally I'm not into the high school romance genre of manga, but this is an exception.

The live action movie is hilarious though, with Akira's screams of anguish sounding like gachimuchi noises, the weird scenes of fat people, and Bob Sapp as a news reporter among other things. Definitely one of the more entertainingly bad movies I've come across.

Finished both Ya Boy Kongming and I'm Quitting Heroing

The rapping and engrish pop shit really dragged Kongming down ngl. The first few episodes were much better, if only they kept Kongming center instead of idol drama.

I'm Quitting Heroing was surprisingly decent for what first seemed like a generic "Hero got kicked out" show. That being said, I'm a sucker for the "Now, you must defeat the hero in order to save the world" type of twist. The ending might have stuck better if the main character actually died, but considering its a wn its not surprising that it'd get continued beyond its natural ending.

Yeah this looks like the end is near for the series. Garou seemed to knock Saitama out in 165, he returns at the end of 166, suit tattered and with quite the bloody head. Not even Boros made him bleed.

I'm pretty sure his suit has been damaged if not outright destroyed for comedic effect before, and by relatively minor threats at that. As for the blood, I'm pretty sure that's Genos's machine oil. Genos dying seems to play dramatically enough that it probably won't be undone via a comedic bit, but the amount of roughing up Saitama has received is about on par with the webcomic. The only thing different here so far is that he has visibly lost his composure. I don't think he's met his match here.
But we'll find out around mid-July. If nothing else it's a hell of a cliffhanger.
edit - correction as to the source of the rain: it's apparently supposed to be something called black rain and is a phenomena that usually occurs after a nuclear scale detonation as the large amounts of ash and dust kicked up will cause the moisture in nearby clouds to condensate and fall as a muddy solution.

Just an FYI on I'm Quitting Hero'ing. There's an OVA coming on Friday, & the manga is still running on it's own storyline after this.
