Evangelion is a great show in my book and one of the earliest I watched, but the Western fanbase is another story. It's not mainstream, but there's no shortage of autists who want absolutely everything in every frame to mean something. Dedicated Eva forums are just endless cycles of autistic theorycrafting from people who don't want to hear that maybe it wasn't all 4D chess all along and maybe its predecessors were great in themselves.

Watched some of SAC-2045's second season. It's still way below the highs of the original and 2nd Gig, but it's also a considerable improvement over 2045's first season. Graphics are still awkward but better polished and easier on the eyes - the graphical quality is overall more consistent but still needs some refinement, though the Tachikomas are pretty much at perfection for me.

Haven't seen all the story but I'm liking it so far. Feels like they have a better grip on the story they want to tell, but one thing I need to look back on is just how cyberised Togusa is supposed to be. If I remember correctly, he had more cyberisation by Solid State Society, yet he seems to get exhausted and is still limited in endurance like a regular human.

Opening and closing themes are much less trash too, which is a plus.

Watched Odd Taxi on a long plane ride and it's a breath of fresh air. While the plot can get a little difficult to follow at times especially near the end, and the chance encounters between the characters makes Tokyo feel like a small town instead of the massive city that it is, it's very different from your typical anime and reminds me a lot of movies like Pulp Fiction and Memento.

What's a good place to read manga in Japanese? Normally I'd buy paper books, but with buttgag gagging shipping lines and Kazakh smugglers doing their best, I've been waiting for over 6 months for my shit now.

I finished watching Neo Ranga and damn, what a way to end it, I want to see the fucking aliens. Also I feel bad for Haseoka for simping for a woman that loves her brother instead of other men.

Kurogane deserved a better big ASE

Reading the Hellsing manga right now and I think this has to be one of my favorite chapter introduction ever:

From what background I could get from Hirano Kouta, he seems to like a few specific things:
1. Guns/Military gear
2. Chicks with big tits
3. ...traps.
The first two are fine but the third one still confuses me.

The amount of guns I've seen in Hellsing is ridiculous, but hey, I'm not complaining.

But traps? Seriously?

There's a variety but it depends on what you want.

Most of the real comic magazines actually have an online version now, like Shonen Jump + or Shonen Magazine Pocket, which are sites where you pay a small fee to read chapters online. Many series have the latest chapter available for free, while others are payment only. You do need an account and may need to spoof a Japanese address but it hasn't been a real issue.

If what you want is full issues, then sites like Booklive or Bookwalker sell the full things at decent prices [usually 500+ yen per volume], which you can read through the browser, an app, or via ripping programs like HakuNeko.

The presently airing third season of Love is War has been quite entertaining for its current span, despite the show turning perhaps somewhat more explicit in its language. Personally, however, that doesn't seem to have a perceivable negative impact on the show's overall pleasantness for the time being,

A comfortable watch so far.

Togashi announced four more chapters of Hunter X Hunter are on the way.

The dub is pretty decent except from anya and didn't Megan Shipman also voice index as well?
Man, the dub for Spy x Family will make you really hate Anya.

I don't know who this chick (Megan Shipman) is and can't tell you for the life of me who she voiced, but she just looks unlikeable.

I heard three seconds and never want to listen again. It’s the typical “clearly a grown woman trying to sound like a kid and talking with an exaggerated lisp” voice.
Yeah the voice doesn't suit her. She was in Index but as a side character. This is worst than Shamiko being voice by Rei
FtM troons are just fujos for the current gen. Shame since zoomers won't be having their anime wife
Anyone have any recommendations for places to stream anime for free? My usual place is fucking up.
torrent. use nyaa.si
Anime has never "pandered" to deviants, it has always been aimed at its core demographic of Jap normies, and Western normies happen to like it as it is, because the appeal of a good story is universal. Producing garbage for deviants is a Western trend.

WHERE do you see it? This is one of the few styles that I like (Tokyo Ghoul is trash tho). What I see everywhere is --

-- the generic sparkly dildo style exemplified by Sword Art Online. (I also think "videogame / VN reality" is anime's doomsday scenario - people's power fantasies going from "dreaming about being awesome IRL" to "dreaming about being awesome in a videogame or getting the pairing you want in a VN" - so as far as I'm concerned SAO will always be relevant.) Cross out sparkly dildos, lolis, down syndrome face, yaoi face - what else is left?
Yeah, I've been watching anime since the late 90s, renting VHS from Hollywood videos and joining my anime club since that was the only way back then

This was typical OVAs back then and they've softened up to appeal to normies who'll abandoned the hobby in a few years

HunterTrannies may get a new chapter but they'll never be men

Some days ago I started watching the Gigantic Formula and holy shit, the character design for these kids annoys me to no end.
They have these big funko pop eyes that cover almost all the globe, leaving almost no white sclera, and the children characters have these big cheeks that are strange.

cool story so far tho.
