Is Wizard Barrister good? Designs look like Kite (I hated Kite. Too much sex and rape)

And random but what exactly made Darling in the Franxx so hated/controversial???

What about Fire Punch makes you think it's of higher quality? I'm not trying to talk shit, I just legit want to know because you might have noticed something I totally missed which is likely given the complexity of such a weird manga like Fire Punch.
Fire Punch is a lot more focused in it’s themes. It’s a lot less drawn out and Aki although autistic is genuine in his struggle. The themes of identity are well done. Give it a re-read, it’s like 8/10 for me overall.

I literally don't remember anything about Wizard Barrister. I watched it simply because it's Yasuomi Umetsu and it had potential for good world-building, but then it went out on a wet fart and I was so disappointed that I forgot everything about it.

Also Kite has a censored version that may fare better for you.

Nami yo kiitekure
my man, never expected to see anyone mention that one out in the wild.

I've seen a decent chunk of Death Note, S1 of One Punch Man, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and dubbed Ghost Stories. I also watched that one anime based on the immune system back when I was taking immunology (forget its name).
As far as western shit I like, my favorite movie is Stalker, I generally like film noir (Double Indemnity, The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, etc.), and typically like more grounded dramas (Drive, Joker, The Machinist, Memento). I also enjoy "Lovecraftian" horror but the only two movies that really got close to that were The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness.
Don't read comics, mainly read classics, philosophy, old horror, and some 50s-70s scifi.
if you watched hataraku saibou better get ready to watch black.

the other stuff is not necessarily what I watch, so can't really recommend much. as @Dom Cruise said it's always a good idea to watch the classics, including akira and ghost in the shell (cowboy bebop apparently works dubbed too). with all the mecha talk might wanna include patlabor. maybe rainbow or something like anohana if you're feeling too happy (while lots of seasonal stuff is more on the happy side or fun, when they produce something where shit gets serious they go all in, but since most people usually only see the former that's their perception of what anime is).

while I'm a pleb that prefers anime over manga, especially with the older stuff you mentioned you should check out some of the franco-belgian comics. not a lot gets translated into english and it mostly stays under the radar in part for that reason, but blake & mortimer, XIII, valerian & laureline, blueberry and buck danny are classics for a reason (you even get someone like jodorowsky writing for them, the incal is something anyone should've checked out at least once). that's just the stuff I know and remember, I still want to read some of enrico marini's stuff, which sounds at least interesting but no idea how good it is. there's also a lot of more stuff with a hint of comedy like clifton, gil jourdan, tif et tondu or even some spirou & fantasy depending on the timeframe (it's over 70 years old and had quite a few different authors putting their mark on it, but all of them up to tome & janry hold up to some degree).
word of warning tho, while some of them got adaptions in some form (tv series, movies or cartoon) imo they're hardly do the original justice. doesn't mean they're bad, but they're still adaptations after all focusing on different aspects (like the spirou cartoon mostly aimed at kids, when the source was quite often more serious like qrn over bretzelburg), so it's best to ignore them when you read the comics itself.
personally I'm a sucker for yoko tsuno, might fit your bill too. beware that style and tone changes later on and gets more realistic in case you wanna check out the first album.
I blame the japanese protag for turning me into a weeb

So does anyone here know if Berserk manga is going to continue or if it stays in its current state?, just finished the manga for the 4th time and google isn't remotely helpful when searching for info. I don't mind if they end it here but was curious if there will be any future battle between Schierke, Caska and Farnese as the berserker first lady.

But we all know who his real true love is.....

Yeah I pretty much never see it mentioned myself. It was a pleasant surprise for me back when it aired and I like to keep it in mind as something to recommend to people who are looking for a relatively down to earth story about adults and their messy interpersonal relationships and workplace struggles, and where the grown women actually look and act like grown women.

As one of the very few people on this site that still likes the show and is still wishing it would get some kind of continuation (which often gets me mocked here), the main reason has to do with how much the writing fell off in the second half. The first 15 episodes are pretty much perfectly paced and tightly written. Nearly everything about them connects with every plot beat, and it's overall really enjoyable.

Unfortunately, for reasons I'm not entire sure of (though rumor has it that it was severely rushed), the following episodes are much more sloppy in construction, all culminating in an ending that isn't satisfying, to say the least. It starts introducing characters and elements without having built them up enough, focuses too much on side characters and relationships that aren't as interesting as the main one, and brings in a villain that has nothing to do with anything regarding the major conflict that had been built up. As a result, it really doesn't end well.

It's a shame. Had there been more focus and perhaps more time to build up those episodes, it could've maintained its quality all the way through. For that matter, there are still specks of goodness here and there in the second half, mainly regarding the relationship between Hiro and Zero Two. Too bad it all turned out the way it did. There's a reason why many regard the manga adaptation as superior.

Even so, I still enjoy the show, again, mainly because of the two main characters. But I understand why people dislike it.

No, Wizard Barrister was embarrassingly bad, with massive production problems culminating in a slideshow of a finale, and a subpar plot.

Amagi Brilliant Park was great, though.

I can't believe Spy x Family got my tears acting up. It's been two years since I read MISSION 1 but, this is such a good adaptation. Loid wasn't nerfed, Anya's VA is top-tier. Only issue is that VHS rewind sound for her esper power and subs move waaaaaaaaaaay too fast for me. I hate how good it is, animation and everything.

I'm reading this and not sure how I feel about it. Enjoy the schlocky spy stuff, but the characterization is funky sometimes (when it tries to make you sympathize with the siscon SS agent and such).
Also the gimmick of nobody knowing anyone else's situation needs to break at some point. It can only support so much milage.

Maybe I'm just not good at goofy and fun stuff though. I generally read more serious manga.

Yeah, this quickly wore thin for me. I think it's a necessassity for Anya (the others knowing she has psychic powers would probably create too many plot problems as she'd be the answer to nearly any trouble) but there's no reason why Loid and Yor can't find out about each other.

FMA is one of those 'classic' ones. Though I hate to be the fucker that starts the 'sub vs. dub' debate, but I honestly can't stand dubs. FMA does have a good English dub, but it is the exception to the rule. Cowboy Bebop also has (arguably) the best dub in anime. Some would argue superior to the sub, and its hard for me to disagree.
I think old dubs are good, and prefer them to subs generally (Outlaw Star, Samurai Champloo, etc). Newer dubs just don't sound good, I can't adequately explain it. Even when they use the same cast, it just doesn't sound right, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Dragon Ball Z Kai/Super are good examples.

I'm sure if Attack on Titan was dubbed in the 90's I'd prefer it to sub, but as it stands the dub is unbearable (one of the worst imo). Then again, there's stuff like Death Note which can go either way,

Read volume 10 of muvluv alternative

I feel like every chapter is a death flag being activated, it only gets worse. it feels like death is always at the next chapter.

also fuck yuuko

Mr. Varis and I have been enjoying the Netflix adaptation of Thermae Romae. This series has somehow found a sweet spot of cringe that the both of us can laugh at: cutting corners with cheap 3D animation, fellating Japanese culture, kinda-sorta historical accuracy except when Japan numba one, and voice actors attempting to pronounce Latin.

Almost every episode goes like this: Lucius the bathhouse architect receives a work order; Lucius tips his toes in water and gets isekai'd into modern Japan; Lucius has a FUCKING MELTDOWN over a tub of hot water; Lucius returns home and copies everything he saw while feeling endless angst over it.

We just finished the 5th episode. Lucius had his butt licked by a Japanese toilet and I'm pretty sure the Emperor just made a pass at him. Still waiting for the plot to begin.

:optimistic:

Nah, I'm all for that gimmick to be dispelled too. I just don't know when it'll be since we're on MISSION 60 something. I've been reading for 2 years now and barely moved. Nothing on other fandoms, though.
