Yeah the Alliance was the biggest annoyance for me trying to watch the show but not in terms of government per say.Halfway through Legend of the Galactic Heroes, it really is kino as promised, extremely smart, and a lot of its points are extremely true even today (pretty fitting considering one of the themes is how humanity hasn't changed even after millenias).
I don't remember where I heard it, but people said there are dozens of characters to keep track over in the anime, but really the cast is about 7 important characters in the two sides (with plenty of side characters).
The only gripe I have is that the Alliance is autistically retarded, while the Empire is incredibly proficent. Even if the point is that "what's better, the worse democracy or the best autocracy?", each system of goverment has its pros and cons regardless of the people on top. An autocracy might have the ability to enact changes rapidly, but once someone who isn't fit is put into a job, things can go bad without an easy fix. While a democracy has easier time changing leadership and adapting to changes on multiple levels.
Its not an anime but I'll shill Dungeon Meshi whenever I can. It's weird how some people conflate fantasy anime with Isekai when it could be so much more though. Imagine being able to travel to any world and you choose Generic Fantasy World #3392.Do non-Isekai fantasy animes exist anymore? Seems like its just Isekai now. Which I dont get. NEET self-insert "I was reincarnated into this fantasy world" is a pretty cringe premise and the worst part of every Isekai. Taking any story and Neverending Storying it just makes it worse IMO.
Because every Japanese person wants to be Dragon Quest. Isekai is basically the JRPG genre, if we're being honest.Imagine being able to travel to any world and you choose Generic Fantasy World #3392.
I pretty much decided to ignore the logistics side when the Empire straight up emptied out the food storage of a planet into their space ships over the course of 2 hours, this shit should take at least 2 months. Though it is annoying we never get to hear about the Empire's economic model, and only get to hear about the Alliance's one.Yeah the Alliance was the biggest annoyance for me trying to watch the show but not in terms of government per say.
People who know the show better can confirm or tell me I'm full of shit but from the few episodes I've seen it kind looks like the Empire is set up as a agrarian society and the alliance is very much an industrial one, and somehow the former has been mogging the latter for a few centuries.
I've seen some reasons to explain it, best one is the Nobility of the empire are simply larping as space Prussians and don't get all of there power/wealth from forcing their citizens to be illiterate farmers. But if it isn't and they are wholly relying on having tech from the former Federation and having a lot more manpower, I kind of call bullshit.
I have only 7 to watchhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=I4aQQBLokNo
If you’re not watching Macross right now, have you really accomplished anything in your life up to this point?
I know I’m going through a Tony Hawk phase right now, but I will literally change my entire profile into a Macross related theme.
Pretty sure Goblin Slayer and Redo of Healer aren't isekaisDo non-Isekai fantasy animes exist anymore? Seems like its just Isekai now. Which I dont get. I assume you mean the first adaption, which makes me wonder how the new one holds up in comparison (dat sawano music tho...)Its top tier stuff, not just as an anime but compared to any piece of media.
It doesn't beat you over the head with anything or treat the viewer like an idiot. With the political stuff especially, you are presented with two different sides and really it's up to the viewer to draw their own conclusions. I honestly can't imagine any western show or film doing something like that in this day and age and treating the viewer with respect.
Die Neue Thesis is a ridiculously stripped-down version of the story; any non-primary character that can be removed, has been, leaving the world a lot less fleshed-out and interesting. The Sawano music is good, but on the other hand the show somehow managed to make Iserlohn visually uninteresting.I assume you mean the first adaption, which makes me wonder how the new one holds up in comparison (dat sawano music tho...)
There's a severe disparity in population--the Empire has several times the population of the Alliance, and has settled more planets anyway. Most of the farming planets you see are said to be fairly remote, and they presumably still have industry and tech from the Federation, Phezzan, and their own R&D. I guess it's like Russia vs Germany (or Napoleonic France vs Russia given the parallels of the invasion strategy).Yeah the Alliance was the biggest annoyance for me trying to watch the show but not in terms of government per say.

Depends. It actually even fleshes out some of the side characters more than the original like giving an additional scene to that one land combat admiral they fight in the civil war. Some stuff gets cut to both make room for that and hurry the show along, but it's rarely anything remotely important. The biggest stuff that does get cut is the battle scenes (except for stuff like Amritsar, which the original show cut instead), which is detrimental because it cuts away a lot of great moments from the characters (especially Kircheis) and the true scale of the war. A battle that got most of an episode in the original might get a single scene in the remake.Die Neue Thesis is a ridiculously stripped-down version of the story; any non-primary character that can be removed, has been, leaving the world a lot less fleshed-out and interesting. I mean, even this season The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Rust Eater Bisco and Demon Slayer are fantasy and aren't isekai out of just the shit I'm watching. Isekai is mostly shit as a genre but I don't know that it's any more shit on average then any other genre. Most anime is terrible and derivative; it's always been the case. I don't think it was better twenty years ago when every anime was trying to be dark and phycological to be like Neon Genesis Evangelion.Pretty sure Goblin Slayer and Redo of Healer aren't isekais

I honestly see it as a missed opportunity since I find the time period when monarchies start to grapple with industry really interesting and could of been cool to see in the show, but no its mostly handwaved away as Rudolf turning everyone into peasants, although that might legit just be Alliance propaganda now that I think about it. Also will admit the empires ships are extremely aesthetic and unless they show it in the later episode, I'm gonna be really disappointed if we never get to see their shipyards. There's a severe disparity in population--the Empire has several times the population of the Alliance, and has settled more planets anyway. I just took it as the peasants being people Rudolf hated but didn't kill for whatever reason so just enserfed them to his nobles who in their space Prussian larp decided to make planet-wide estates. If you look closely, you see there's a decent-sized middle class like Kircheis and Reinhard's families (and most of his admirals come from similar backgrounds of poor nobles and middle class commoners) and there's presumably plenty of shopkeepers and other typical middle-class. But you're definitely right it's a missed opportunity, which LOGH is really full of. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, it's more the product of how well the show illustrates its setting that you can think of more interesting things that could've been with it. I agree that I'd love to see some corrupt industrialist noble getting his shit kicked in or whatever.I honestly see it as a missed opportunity since I find the time period when monarchies start to grapple with industry really interesting and could of been cool to see in the show, but no its mostly handwaved away as Rudolf turning everyone into peasants, although that might legit just be Alliance propaganda now that I think about it. I read all of them except Ranger Reject, but yeah, I concur. There's some massive stuff going on right now, I don't remember Mieruko-chan much tho, I blame the slow release for that.Well, I just caught up with “Looking Up To Magical Girls”, “Ranger Reject”, “Mieruko-chan”, “Nagatoro”, and “MHA: Vigilantes” and they have have had some pretty major stuff happen in the last couple chapters.
I don't like most of HxH simply because I really like shonen. It seems to me like it's trying it's hardest to be the anti-shonen, doing everything as different as possible from a normal shonen just for the sake of being different. Like dude, your main character "winning" fights by getting the shit beat out of him so hard that the people start to feel bad and stop because they don't wanna kill him sure is different but it's also just really lame and not enjoyable to watch. If you like shounen stuff you will like HxH, its very well made, the animation is good and it hits the main beats you'd like in a shounen. I personally don't see how its rated so highly, its "good" at best. People seem to really like the ant arc, I think its an embarrassing mess but maybe I'm setting the bar too high. Give it a watch if you have nothing better to do I guess?
