A thing I always wondered, if any one of you knows Japanese, does learning the language destroy your enjoyment of certain anime openings?
Like, I can imagine some of the openings with the best tunes have horrendously cringy lyrics.
None of the lyrics are cringe, they're usually pretty glorious. Especially the Engrish, the fact the Japanese government is demanding better English everywhere is tragic.

About half the fan subs I watch have the OP’s subbed as well, the lyrics are usually okay.

as a Zeonfag I can understand siding with Char, what I don't get is why leftoids are siding with a space aryan that wanted to nuke the degenerate, kike-ridden earthsphere for -rightfully- being the shithole that it is
In some cases, Earth turns into Gjallarhorn with it's Ion-diot, sodomy enabling* shit, I would colony drop the earth at that point.
*Seriously, McGillis was molested by his adoptive "father" and care-taker, Iznario Fareed

You just summed up every single piece of Eureka Seven media after the original aired. Jesus Christ don't even get me started on the Hi-Evolution movies.
All the 50-episode series need was to adapt "The Day After" in an OVA.
Pocketful of Rainbows sucked, and AO is an abomination.

I have no choice but to watch the new Urusei Yatsura when it comes out because Hiroshi Kamiya is voicing Ataru.

If they have to remake Urusei Yatsura, I hope they do it the Osomatsu-san remake way where it's pretty much just doing its own thing for the 21st century instead of being a more accurate adaptation of the original manga (the 1981 Urusei Yatsura TV series often took some liberties with the source material, probably to pad chapters out to fill an entire half-episode segment, when they weren't just making wholly original episodes).
There's rumors that have been slightly confirmed that the 2022 anime is going to be a fairly straight adaptation of the original manga. This will either be a pleasant surprise or a total nightmare depending on how they handle it.

I think anime reboots that are straight adaptations of manga that already got a pretty good anime adaptation the first time around are pointless. I know the original Urusei Yatsura TV series wasn't panel-for-panel accurate to the manga but the main plot points for the chapters that they adapted were almost always pretty much the same and the changes made with the anime adaptation were either because things that work in manga don't always translate to anime, especially when it comes to pacing, or because some of the shorter manga chapters couldn't even fill a half-episode segment if adapted straight, so some anime-original filler material is needed.

Even in cases where the anime started doing its own thing, and I'm especially talking about Sailor Moon since it was adapting a manga that really had only just started and I believe Naoko Takeuchi only gave them a rough outline for the end of the Queen Beryl arc, which differs greatly from the manga, I often still prefer the anime version of the story. Many of the filler episodes of Sailor Moon are my favourite episodes of the series since I generally prefer the episodes that are more slice-of-life with a funny monster-of-the-week at the end anyway.

In the case of Sailor Moon, I at least understand the point of the reboot for people who do prefer the story from the manga and wanted the main focus to be on the overarching story, but there's not really the same overarching story for Urusei Yatsura since even the manga was an episodic sitcom.

Girls und Panzer Das finale 3 is out now. pretty fun stuff, good ending to Chihatan battle, good Pravda vs black forest and jakasota vs Saunders battle. surprise ending.

Word has it that one of the crown jewels of the Shōwa era, Urusei Yatsura, is getting a re-adaptation for next year on Fuji TV.

I'm somewhat concerned.
I'm neutral. The only people that know about it are oldschool (pre 06'ers-like-me) anime fans. It's not an entry-level like Cowboy Bebop or PPG where it's so popular anyone would want to remake it.

Then again, I should watch the Cutie Honey remake before forming an opinion. (Was it good or should I watch the original?)

What does anyone think of the Jungle Book anime?
Any time anime Kaa is on screen, I wonder, "Are you going to do it? Are you going to do the thing?" and he doesn't.

Book Kaa had hypnosis powers. It wasn't as inadvertently (?) fetish-inducing as the 1967 Disney animated version of Kaa but he still had them.

I guess the Japanese writers saw no use for Kaa's power. At least you could say it did a better job telling the story as a series than Disney did for an animated feature. At least the wolves got more exposure.

I’m worried if that Ranma 1/2 ever gets remade, the usual suspects would try do something about a show about a boy that turns into a girl with cold water then back to a boy with hot water

Nearing the end of Planetes, I'm really liking it (though I wish it was focused on the job of being space garbage man rather than the big events). The one big issue I have is the social commentary of "space is being monopolized by rich countries".
It's just an empty platitude. It sets an impossible moral goalpost that on its account we should never advance, treats shit countries as dindus who are just harassed by bigger countries (not completely untrue, but the vast majority of the time those countries fuck themselves), and ignores that technological advances always flow back towards everyone. It's also weird since it has multiple characters that reached high position by meritocrisy despite not having a good background.
