Wasn't it also a case where Kubo spent most of the chapters he ended up using for the last arc on stuff that really didn't help it and when the series was made to end, he had to make the final fight go by a lot quicker than he might've wanted to?

Bleach fans have been huffing copium and blaming everything under the sky for Bleach sucking for a long time, the 10th Division YouTube Apologist Squad blowing the final arc like it's perfect is yet another example of it. Ghost samurais are cool and all but people really need to get over it already, the final arc was already trash before it got rushed into completion and Kubo isn't some sort of poor martyr whose masterful work got destroyed by the awful, horrible child-murdering Shonen Jump editors. He's just a guy who wanted to draw cool characters without bothering to think about the specifics too much and that's perfectly fine.
 
Who actually keeps up with long-running battle shounen after they discover that there's 20 new 12 episode anime every 3 months? Was about to watch the thing in @Atomsk post then realized I haven't watched Bleach in 10 years.

EDIT: Though I kindof blame the backlog itself, because if you're used to watching 5-10 episodes a day to catch up then actually catch up and only get an episode a week, interest drops fast. Happened to me with One Piece after catching up with Kaizoku fansubs at 175 episodes (BTW One Pace is fucking A if you want to rewatch it).

The weekly manga publishing system Shueisha and others have set up certainly doesn't help when it comes to how deadlines are handled.

But that actually shows more just how much of a genius Oda is at crafting engaging stories and characters for years

Even in with Japanese standard, Shueisha and its WSJ's editorial is ridiculously cruel with their cutoff standard and deadlines
 
It's not letting me quote for whatever reason but to respond to @Merkabah I kind of also agree that while technically impressive Ufotable isn't the studio that impresses me the most. I find the best studios are the ones that go above and beyond, where it would have been perfectly fine to cheap out but instead end up going all out. You can almost feel the passion of those that worked on it, where it's not just another paycheck. I can't even blame studios that just do it for the paychecks because it requires a very special environment to allow for that level of dedication (budget, non-hell deadlines, production willing to allow more creative control on the adaption, etc.) I'm always a sucker for clear passion projects, but bit every production can be one and a series can be great even without that.

I haven't really been keeping up with anime recently so I can't give an anime example, but the recent Arcane series is something that has that very special environment that allowed it to really shine as probably one of the best animations of the year. You had almost an 8 year development cycle from a single studio which had a large staff pool, most likely a very generous budget from Riot, and what seems like basically free reign from Riot to do whatever they liked story wise. They took pretty vague/one-note characters and fleshed them out into compelling characters when they could have easily just done a fanservice filled series for league fans to point at while going "I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!"

Honestly, I'll partly disagree with you. Although, most shonen mangaka (specifically the ones from Jump) are the most creative and imaginative people in the industry and they do "ok" storytelling based on the schedule they are given, they are definitely not storytellers. Oda especially has no idea how to write compelling characters whom also don't rely on being archetypes to be charming (which is also the reason why I stopped following during Punk Hazard).

Except Kohei Horikoshi and Yuki Tabata. My hero academia and black clover are unoriginal garbage that have no business being that disgustingly popular.

Also, is it true that the final arc of Bleach has a lot of Kenpachi? That's the biggest reason I actually want to watch the new anime besides it looking like the animation is going to look really nice.

Is Lucky Star considered to be a good beginner anime? It has a lot of direct references to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which he didn't list (and a plethora of other anime but I think Haruhi Suzumiya was the most referenced due to both anime being Kyoto Animation shows starring Aya Hirano). I mean, I like Lucky Star but I don't think I'd recommend it over Haruhi Suzumiya (certainly not over The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya but at minimum the core arc of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya plus "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody", the "Sigh" arc, and at least the final episode of "Endless Eight" is required watching to understand what the heck is going on in Disappearance).

Funny enough, I think Gigguk was the one who put Haruhi Suzumiya on his list. Then again, he also chose Evangelion and One Piece in the same breath, so there’s that.
