Too bad the manga spirals off into a speedrun of space travel and computer processing by way of worldwide ping-pong jet(boat)setting, which isn't as fun as the caveman stuff and the early electronics stuff like the rad tube/valve "cell phones", and the villain in the final arc is an off screen "mystery" so we probibly won't have any backstory or motivations for him until the very end.
still great art (even if atm most of it is of maps with indiana jones style travel lines and local cuisine wikipedia summaries)

I’m going to have to stop you right there. It really isn’t. Like, in no way is it remotely accurate. Enjoyable and interesting sure but I could go all day about how most of what they do in the show would be completely impossible for the average person.

You really have to accept two things with this show, three if you count the oddly colored hair here and there.

1: Senkuu is a crazy unrealistic levels of super genius that not only allows him to know complex chemical formulas off handedly without any references or books but also allows him to compute massive equations in his head within a matter of seconds. He might as well be a DC Superhero.

2: The show conveniently has all the minerals and resources he would need within pretty unrealistically short distances and often disregards geological precedents. It’s effectively the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure of post apocalypse anime.

It’s fun but it’s hardly accurate. They leave out a lot of key details that would inconveniently make it impossible for Senkuu.

Edit: Don’t get me started on how Tsukasa’s group is making all these super fashionable outfits and coloring them with dye. They’re a very colorful bunch for a group of cave dwellers.

You're right, it's a work of fiction after all and many liberties were taken to make it entertaining, which is why I said a gateway into survival not a survival manual. It can pique one's interest and those who want to learn more can seek it out.

I do really enjoy it. I may have my gripes, sure, but like I said it’s really fun.

Not to power level too much but I used to do hobbyist level spelunking and geology years back and it always gives me a laugh when it’s just like “Ah yes, we have this incredibly hard to find mineral that we found off screen within traveling distance of our village in Japan.” I’ve pretty much figured out the end game of the plot I think just from the show so far. I’m guessing there’s a petrification device that was actually meant to be a medical thing but fell into the wrong hands.

it's OK but not as compelling as the adapted chapters [exponential drop in realism and equally exponenial increase in pace/number of characters, so a standard for shonen (but a little akward here due to the theme {science vs battle - in fact the amount of combat scenes stays level unlike most where every 20min fight will last 100 chapters as the end draws near}) Also not much happens character-growth-wise or interpersonal-wise, it's all plot plot plot]

But that's just a lot of words to say "rushed", -which you might prefer, since it seems to be a trend lately: racing to the end like demonslayer did rather than dragging on for literal decades as the author's organs give out from over work and under sleep.

Plus it's almost over, so you could catch up now and be ready to read the finale spoiler-free right as it drops

Yeah, I’m reading now in between other stuff. Also is it just me or is Senkuu kind of a bad guy here? Just seems like Tsukasa had a really good idea and if he had just met Senkuu halfway on it they might have actually been able to create a better more energy efficient society.

Now as soon as Tsukasa is out of the picture Senkuu starts talking about digging for oil and resurrects a billionaire playboy.

I remember watching the remake they did and having a lot of fun with how over the top the drama was (like the part where everyone besides Ayumi was giving Maya crap for not being able to act very well right after he mom had just died like it wasn't a big deal.), going back to the original had even more of that good stuff. Literally in the first episode it had Maya jumping into freezing cold waters over some tickets to a play and having the teacher see this and go "She might have the talent I've been looking for!" while looking like a wicked villain.

Have to get back into watching the 80s version for that reason along with the numerous older series stuck on the backlog.

Tbf the issue with the manga currently is the technology they try to build would be too complicated to explain for the target demographic and Dr. Stone’s biggest weakness is how it doesn’t dive much into characters too deeply which could’ve been a neat exchange for the rushed pace of technology. The latest chapter gives me hopes though since it probably had the most soul of the recent chapters, but Dr. Stone honestly peaked with the South America arc but I look forward to see what happens
 
@Wingnut That reminds me of WataMote announcements that always end up being for something like a pop-up WataMote art show/café or an anthology novel (the latter of which I would buy if they get officially translated into English) and not the long-awaited season 2 or even just a new OVA.

Considering the Izuna comic was full of original stories with the characters, is that really such a problem?

The only question is which disturbingly underage character will be chosen as the protagonist next time.
 
I started reading Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa and while I'm only at the halfway point I think it might be my new favorite FKMT series.
At first I thought I wouldn't like it as much as Kaiji because there is no games/gambles to drive up the stakes. But its the opposite, since there are no complex rules to explain the character writing is even more front and center. Especially with Kurosawa himself since while he starts out as an absolute loser like a lot of MCs, him achieving something feels genuine rather then coming off as a wish fulfillment power fantasy (maybe because he's the only loser type MC I've seen that isn't a generic Otaku/NEET).

Unless it drops the ball hard in the second half this might be my new go to recommendation who wants to to dip their toes into FKMTs manga.
 
Have there ever been days where you had to rewatch certain anime because you didn’t give it the time of day?

If an anime is not that great, then I can understand, but for me rewatching the Monogatari series is a must because I accidentally fell asleep to it since the animated cinematography for it was too much to handle. This weekend, I’m giving it another shot.

Hellsing Ultimate for me. The first time I watched it I heavily backgrounded it and by the time I got to the end, and I realized that I had no idea what was actually going on when Walter got de-aged.

There are a few arcs I literally slept through, but plenty of good content as well. If you can't handle a season, just move on to the next one.
I think it's worth it for how pretty the show is, honestly. Maybe pretty isn't the word, but the style is something.

I read that manga thanks to this or another post ITT. It hurt me deeply. I've become opposed to misery train storylines, but it was well done. And deeply disturbing. I enjoyed it.

A manga, but I skipped out on World Trigger when it first started since the first couple chapters didn't grab my attention and I was busy at the time. I really enjoy it now, almost wish I had stuck with it the first time, even though it means dealing with the multiple year hiatus.
 
Is the Record of Ragnarok anime mostly filler?

Granted I'm only two episodes in but it feels like it has more filler than the earlier episodes of dragonball
