the sentai release of Girls und Pazner das finale 2 includes taiyaki war.

haven't watched the dub yet but i'm just ecstatic they didn't try to nickel and dime us like they did with the ova release.

Speaking of Record of Lodoss War, am I the only one who doesn't like it? Everyone always says it's a classic but aside from the nice animation and some cool moments it's just a bog-standard generic high fantasy story with mostly forgettable characters. It jumps all over the place too in terms of shit going on in each episode. Yes, I know it started life as a D&D campaign which is kinda cool but it's probably why it's so generic.

I watched the OVA first, is the TV version any better?

Ngl I haven't gone back to it despite owning the DVD of the OVA. I'm like literally halfway through it, but something about it doesn't sit right with me and I had to pinch myself awake a couple of times. I was watching it subbed btw because for some reason I didn't know if the DVD even had the English track on it (it does, but I'm a dumbass who couldn't spot the English audio track on the menu).

TV version is considered worse than the OVA, this is especially true in regards to the animation. As for the show itself, like you said the plot and characters are literally ripped out of a D&D campaign that the author had. I like it because it's a standard generic high fantasy show but yeah it's not anything amazing and the pacing of the OVAs leave a lot to be desired.

I was pretty hyped and was let down, the only real exceptional thing about it was coomer waifu Elves. The hero also somehow increase in levels without ever doing anything.

The Steam Metrodivania game is kino though.

More rappers need to watch K-ON! to improve their instrumentation skills.

I didn't really get the appeal of the Lodoss War OVA when I first saw it subbed years ago. It is, at its core, extremely simple and with little more than basic fantasy tropes, bolstered with some lovely animation and a lush soundtrack. So, at the time, I just wrote it off and went about my merry way.

But then years later, I decided to watch it again with friends--dubbed this time--and I literally don't know why, but something clicked, and I ended up loving it. Watching it through the lens of a cheesy 90's fantasy series, with an almost Disney Fairy Tale quality in the vein of Sleeping Beauty or The Black Cauldron, actually helped me like the characters and world more. And then I found out about a bunch of the extra content in the form of the manga adaptations, such as The Grey Witch, Deedlit's Tale, Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, and Lady of Pharis, all of which I read with the accompaniment of the glorious soundtrack for both the OVA and TV series. And now, I go back to the OVA with a strange, newfound love for the world and characters, that elevates it above the cheesy affair I wrote it off as. I couldn't tell you where the sudden love came from, because it's not nostalgia (not when I'm watching it this late). But there was something quaint and nice about things like Parn's maturity across the series as he realizes the grim realities of knighthood, or his childish romance with Deedlit.

I don't know if there are any older Lodoss War fans who feel the same way, but that's how I feel as a relative newbie to the series.

Since it just finished airing, I really highly recommend Heike Monogatari. Apperantly based on an X-box hueg old novel which is based on past clan wars in Japan, the protagonist is a girl with an eye that can see the future, her father gets killed by the Heike clan and she comes to the clan to tell them of their inevitable doom... only to be adopted into it by one of the merciful senior members. The girl watches the clan from its absolute zenith to the foretold doom, not really being able to do much due to being a small girl in feudal japan.
Besides the unique art style (that causes some characters to be hard to differenciate) and the great VA work, the character interactions and the history is pretty interesting, and I really like that the series follows what is usually seen as the "evil" side and rather than focus on the wars, it focuses on the familial bonds within the clan. In the end nobody in the series is evil, and is just doing what they find best for the future and their family.

watched girls und panzer das final 2 eng dub. They changed the Chihatan VAs. They sing the School anthem in japanese so i guess the change was necessary.

I started watching Dr. Stone. This is my second time watching it and I’m finding myself puzzled by how much I like it. The first time I saw it I was super annoyed, totally hated it. This time though, only about a year later and we’ll.. I really like. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I find it a lot less annoying and even exciting. Just finished the final dubbed episode so I’m going to start reading the manga now.

Dr Stone is great. It's like the gateway anime to get started with basic survival knowledge. 7 Seeds is also pretty fun as a related post apocalyptic series.
