I'm just curious, what 80s anime do the people in this thread like the most?
Ngl I haven't gone back to it despite owning the DVD of the OVA. I'm like literally halfway through it, but something about it doesn't sit right with me and I had to pinch myself awake a couple of times. I was watching it subbed btw because for some reason I didn't know if the DVD even had the English track on it (it does, but I'm a dumbass who couldn't spot the English audio track on the menu).Speaking of Record of Lodoss War, am I the only one who doesn't like it? Everyone always says it's a classic but aside from the nice animation and some cool moments it's just a bog-standard generic high fantasy story with mostly forgettable characters. It jumps all over the place too in terms of shit going on in each episode. Yes, I know it started life as a D&D campaign which is kinda cool but it's probably why it's so generic.
I watched the OVA first, is the TV version any better?
TV version is considered worse than the OVA, this is especially true in regards to the animation. As for the show itself, like you said the plot and characters are literally ripped out of a D&D campaign that the author had. I like it because it's a standard generic high fantasy show but yeah it's not anything amazing and the pacing of the OVAs leave a lot to be desired.Speaking of Record of Lodoss War, am I the only one who doesn't like it? I was pretty hyped and was let down, the only real exceptional thing about it was coomer waifu Elves. The hero also somehow increase in levels without ever doing anything.Speaking of Record of Lodoss War, am I the only one who doesn't like it? More rappers need to watch K-ON! to improve their instrumentation skills.
I didn't really get the appeal of the Lodoss War OVA when I first saw it subbed years ago. It is, at its core, extremely simple and with little more than basic fantasy tropes, bolstered with some lovely animation and a lush soundtrack. So, at the time, I just wrote it off and went about my merry way.Speaking of Record of Lodoss War, am I the only one who doesn't like it? Ah yes, jets. An extremely underserved subject. Will always be cooler than Mecha any day.Area 88 was also one of those 80s classics, excellent depictions of dogfighting

Nope, still Mecha. Will take pure jet on jet action over that.
Dr Stone is great. It's like the gateway anime to get started with basic survival knowledge. 7 Seeds is also pretty fun as a related post apocalyptic series.I started watching Dr. Stone. This is my second time watching it and I’m finding myself puzzled by how much I like it. The first time I saw it I was super annoyed, totally hated it. This time though, only about a year later and we’ll.. I really like. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I find it a lot less annoying and even exciting. Just finished the final dubbed episode so I’m going to start reading the manga now.
