Has anyone ever stumbled across an piece of Anime media that makes you wonder how many of these projects may have been lost to time (because of what said anime you find you can hardly find any information on them online)?

There was this piece I found almost 2 years ago and the scary part about it is that It's only 25 years old but this was the one to make me think that due to the fact I can't find more information about it, even it's developers don't even mention it anymore. (They're probably ashamed of it). In about a decade or two, a working condition of this game may become obsolete. Game in question is Tenshi no Hohoemi, also known as Angel's Smile.

Not strictly anime related but the Trash Taste guys have been brought up in this thread before; I had their latest episode on and did a double take when they started talking about motherfucking Chris-chan (by way of GenoSamuel's series) and namedropped the fucking Farms, which they refer to as a "shit-talking website". I know in the grand scheme of things Chris is pretty surface-level when it comes to Internet oddities, but it's always a bit jarring seeing this side of the Internet leak into the normiesphere.

Now they dedicated an entire episode to him.

are there any good animes out there like The promised neverland?
The promised neverland is probably the first anime i actually really enjoyed ( I watched aot a long time ago i only watched the first season)
so i'm looking for more animes like it which are kinda similar in genre.

Also, what the fuck was the point of Jerid? He should have been combined with Yazan. Together, they would have formed a new character, called Yazan. In fact, just scrap Jerid altogether. Yazan is fucking based, though.
Jerid's purpose was to be Kamille's punching bag and to have everyone he loved die horrifically by Kamille's hands. He also was there to show that Kamille was an autistic psycho that ruthlessly pursued a man for joking that he had a girls name (Jerid also did other things, but that was the initial incident).
But why make him a rival to Kamille? They had no chemistry. His story should have been entirely separate to that of Kamille's, yet the anime kept pushing them together. It's especially evident, since Kamille kills off one of his love interests. Or maybe he killed two of them? I think he killed that lesbian newtype as well, when she was under his command.
See my above comments.

It's been a while since I've watched Zeta so I'm probably blanking on a lot, I'll try my best to answer though:
And, you say that the anime allows people to be failures, but I feel that it's more due to bad writing than anything else. It's usually everyone else other than the main cast that is a failure. Seriously, barely anybody of the AEUG, who's not of secondary or tertiary importance (to the audience), dies until the last three episodes.
I mean a lot of the main cast got the shit slapped/kicked out of them throughout the series when they fucked up, many of them being children:
There's also a lot of collateral deaths in the series and it kind of makes sense that a lot of the main cast started dying near the end since it was the big battle and it raised the stakes seeing characters you liked (minus katz) start getting picked off.
And the anime also "revives" people who should have died, only to give them a bizarre role. And they're usually women. The women are handled kind of strangely in the anime.
If you're referring to the Newtype ghosts it's not really reviving but Newtype fuckery brought about by Kamille + the Zeta + General Newtype shit. Same thing happened in 0079 with Lalah and was one of the reasons Amuro feared going back into space. All the women that died were connected to Kamille in some way and came to help him.
Another thing that irked me was that characters did whatever they pleased, without following some sort of military doctrine and the commanding officers just said "Do as you wish". What the fuck?
That's a pretty common thing in Gundam of 'rebelling' against adults/authority/oldtypes by main characters, who are also usually civilians forced into fighting for one reason or the other. AEUG is also a rebel group who needed as many fighters as they could, hard to really 'punish' Kamille or the other pilots for disobedience past a room arrest that ends as soon as they scramble for fighters. You probably really wouldn't like ZZ.
A significant problem the anime has is that the AEUG, which are basically rebels, are too good. Rebel groups are notorious throughout history for their atrocities, yet we see no such thing from them. This makes the anime incredibly one-sided against the Titans, a military gestapo fascist group. Even the original Gundam made the sides more even, with honorable characters on Zeon's team.
Might have been a lot more black and white, but AEUG was also a pretty small group held together by a pretty focused goal. You could say that their corporate backers were probably helping out of their own self interest and the hopes of weaselling their grimy hands into the 'new' federations (probably some also being behind the corruption inside the Feddies in the first place) with little actual care about collateral damage. Hell, in ZZ after the AEUG 'wins' Federations is in no better condition after the destruction of the Titans and no matter how many 'fixes' the Federation remains full of corruption. Personally feels to me that the Titans only got to their level of power through the incompetence and behind-the-scenes consent of the leaders of the Federation because there are many examples of them not giving a single shit about who might die as long as the higher ups can save their skin or 'win' a fight. Titans became the fall guy of the Federation's dirty laundry, expendable in the grand scheme of things, and of course they wouldn't mind picking up the most vile individuals as long as they'd (roughly) follow orders since they'd be perfect to pin blame on.

You also do have characters like Emma, former Titan that defects to the AEUG, that not all of them were bad but most likely the better members slowly either followed the same route as Emma by defecting to the AEUG, transferred out, or quit all together.

Finally, the RAINBOW manga has been completely scanlated after 16+ years!

I've been following this manga since 2011, and it really makes me feel emotional to finally see it through completion. This is definitely a great read, and I highly recommend it!

Here's a synopsis of the manga:
Six minors (16 - 17 years) answering to the nicknames of Joe, Mario, Suppon, Baremoto, Heitai, and Kyabetsu are put into a reformatory for offenses such as aggravated assault, swindling, flight, etc.
Their stay in hell begins immediately. Accommodated by a doctor pedophile, they are placed under the watch of a despotic and brutal crew. Cellmates with a certain Sakuragi (called Anchan), the tension rises between the band of buddies and their new "friend."
A brawl breaks out, and our six prisoners are done rossés by the mysterious young man, thanks to his boxing talent. The story will not only follow the lives of these seven characters surviving in their hellish environment, but also their disillusions due to the rejection by the outside world and by their close relations. This is about the extraordinary and invincible friendships between these young men.

Note: Won the 2005 Shogakukan Manga Award for the seinen/general category along with A Spirit of the Sun.

never read it, but I loved the artist other manga

I remember finding Z Gundam pretty mediocre and only really liking it as a continuation of Char's and (to a lesser extent) Amuro's stories.

Saito worked on Golgo 13 for decades except for a two month hiatus last year. For the 45 anniversary of the serialization of Golgo 13, other artists drew tributes, like Oda, Naoki Urasawa. Takehiko Inoue, Rumiko Takahasi, etc.

Some of his other works include his first hit Typhoon Goro, which I wish some scanslators somewhere would get cracking on

and adaptions of four of Fleming's Bond novels, Live and Let Die, Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and The Man With the Golden Gun, critically acclaimed in Japan, though the holders of the Bond literary license withdrew permission for more adaptions. In his book James Bond: The History Of The Illustrated 007 Alan Porter devotes only a short amount of space to Saito's adaptions (probably due to a lack of availbility at the time) but speculates the reason for the plug being pulled on future installments was because they began to diverge greatly from the source material. Even harder to find is his Man from UNCLE manga, Napoleon Solo.

Other titles of Saito's include Kage Gari, published from 1969 to 1973, set during the last years of the Shogunate. Three ronin who have all suffered because of shinobi shenanigans have gotten together to hunt down anything in a black suit. Ninja are portrayed as errand boys using their tricks in service of the corrupt government, Our anti-heroes hack and slash their way through ninja, and have to deal with such challenges like kunoichi who tend to strip off their clothes in front of them.View attachment 2582724View attachment 2582725

And from 1980, Doll the Hotel Detective, about a pistol packing heroine who works in the private security business.

Also of interest, this episode of Urasawa's interview series from 2015 where he talked with Saito, and the viewer gets to see him work, it's a rather insightful episode.

To this day the 007 manga is my only contact with the character ever. It was really fun, my favorite work from him and his studio is Survival.

Jerid is there as Kamille's rival and also to show just how villainous the Titans actually are. He's a true believer in the Titan's mission but he's eternally cursed with the mission of hunting Kamille which ensures he'll never get anywhere in life aside from having his squadmates and love interests routinely cut down in battle. His story is meant as a tragedy and it's actually pretty fascinating to read between the lines of the show and consider it from his perspective.

They're backed by large corporations and Chinese organized crime, it's pretty clear they're responsible for a lot of the insane corruption within the Federation.

Second cour of Mushoku Tensei starts today and given how much the anime in general causes places like reddit to seethe endlessly I'm sure a certain scene towards the end of the season will cause them to mentally implode.

Spoil me.

Here is Part 2 of the /a/ poster uncovering the special edition of Golgo 13’s special edition manga with these archived pictures. Takao Saito did special interviews with actual political demonstrators who was inspired by the manga to want to better themselves, while even talking about the live action film(s) that was done by the likes of the late Sonny Chiba and Takeshi Kitano. 7F6E8C84-01E8-48E8-954E-95AC46DB027B.jpeg FB3717FB-A0A0-4317-93B5-7E8274766A54.jpeg 83846B15-9F7C-41B9-96E5-31D1BDDC265F.jpeg 62EC4773-D3C4-4957-B8DE-005F6F509C8A.jpeg D806FC12-B214-4931-94EC-6D019BD7406B.jpeg 10A871D4-7E86-4FDD-B887-362430E36B9F.jpeg 72042816-C02D-461A-A287-F710E14428EC.jpeg C1AA9F12-43FC-470A-8240-86E1675D187B.jpeg A99F0E86-B417-4330-83DF-18ABA83FE9BB.jpeg 3E6473A4-4A62-4E50-8B10-8307BA1C3933.jpeg 921EC9B9-E295-404E-954A-452698134D41.jpeg 75429E44-1139-4DAA-BB39-6CDDEF1EB7D6.jpeg 1542DB2E-ABB4-4F5A-B235-F68B3CB7E8AD.jpeg B3F8BA31-7F90-4997-B4C8-01E3A4A16DF3.jpeg 67428F89-C51F-473B-8869-9BABFB9301BE.jpeg A6CE1424-1A8A-4F76-9CE8-A482DAC17553.jpeg AC8014DB-186F-44AD-8D99-B0991303C7A7.jpeg 7BFA70AF-9FB0-436A-9EB5-92394BA63354.jpeg 9BBFB965-4979-4B3E-91B9-EC0730969C86.jpeg BF68597E-BB48-4D7B-BFE0-75445082AB77.jpeg A9FB831F-342F-46B5-9B58-B8D0CA70B8E0.jpeg
