Still waiting for Discotek to announce Lupin part 5 bluray.....

On episode 3 of Ace Attorney. Its not bad tbh. I don't quite get the outrage? Like of course its not gonna have him examining things. That would be too time consuming. Animation is fine to me but complaining about faraway shots of characters is ridiculous. Of course they're gonna be rough looking.

Also I disagree. Okada is fine. Maquia and Fujiko Mine were great.

I can't speak for other people but personally I just felt like it didn't have any reason to exist. The games are fun cause you're examining stuff yourself and solving puzzles, so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be getting out of the anime cause it's basically an animated walkthrough of the game. If the entirety of it was anime original cases or expanded backstories of certain characters it'd be more interesting to me, like how the Danganronpa 3 hope and despair arc anime series weren't direct game adaptations.

There seems to be a little bit of expanded stories....I've heard the second season is better about this though

It's more that it's a really shit adaptation of the games even without the in-depth investigations and feels quite pointless. Honestly the best adaptation in the first season is really just the Circus case while several characters are replaced or cut out. There is also how many moments which were stronger in the games are weak in the anime and how some of the anime original moments in the first season were pretty unnecessary and contradict things. Season 2 is marginally better as it is mostly faithful and the anime-original content is interesting since it gives a new case that can be interesting for everyone watching.

Oh yeah that a given. Like April doesn't scream and alert the cops and it is basically implied. That's all a given. Penny doesn't appear either and there is no RFTA case. Its not amazing but not bad either.

I mean no Rise from the Ashes is perfectly fine since it had many plot issues and was only an add on to the DS version of Ace Attorney as a demonstration of the DS’ features

I got invited out to watch the Demon Slayer movie with some friends despite never having actually watched the show beforehand which I thought was a very bad idea but I decided to watch it anyway and honestly I'm glad I did, it's really damn good.

My only major criticism is that the first 30 minutes or so are rather slow and and a bit of a drag but other that that I highly recommend it.

Feel a bit upset that the impact of certain scenes (you know which ones I mean) weren't as big because I hadn't seen the series beforehand but they still hit hard and it's made me want to actually watch the series now.

As far as Macross - Frontier is probably one of my top 10 or top 20 series (the music playing a large part in that), but I keep hearing mixed things about the other series.

Is it worth going all the way back to SDF at this point? I love Irresponsible Captain Tylor, so the art style is less of an issue for me than just whether the plot has been obviated by later shows. Likewise Macross 7, I’ve heard some people say it’s weak but worth watching, and others say it’s an embarassment to the franchise.

Any advice either way is appreciated.
So a bit late, but I'll echo the base of Macross folks. SDF, Do You Remember Love, and Macross Plus are must watches for the series. Macross 7 has it's pacing problems, especially early on, but it does get much better as time goes on and the series stakes go up. A lot of the contention is that most Macross shows have some level of serious plot under the singing and transforming space planes, it takes a bit to get to 7's. Basically, once the episode song moves on from Planet Dance. You'll understand if you watch it. Also the biggest series, with 49 broadcast episodes, several unbroadcast ones, a movie and four episode OVA. I liked it more the second time I watched it.

You've already seen Frontier, I like the TV series better than the movies, as the movies cheapen the shit out of the heavier story beats and unresolves the triangle because the pedophiles wanted the girl that looks like she's 12 to win it. Zero is worth a watch, just because the VF-0s are sexy and they actually use CGI correctly. Delta...has problems. Mostly pacing issues, but some structural issues, mainly it's attempt at a love triangle fails miserably. Mirage never stood a chance. It's certainly worth a watch, but it always feels like it never really comes together. I do like how it shows humanity being dicks, there's an undercurrent of paranoia in the UN Spacy that the shows don't always show well, but the written background material makes clear. For example, the Frontier Colony fleet has full sized Zentraedi. It's the only place inside the UN Spacy where that's still legal, because after the second revolt, the government decided all of them had to be micronized. Too much genetic aggression. Pops up in 7 with Milia not being able to handle that whole civilian life thing.

Zettai Karen Children manga is ending after 16 years

Meanwhile, today is the day that Eromanga Sensei will officially end its manga adaptation after its been in circulation for only seven years. It was a funny ride, but I’ll never forget this one scene that saved 2014:

So i found a very chill anime of a girl and her scooter today. i hope it has 0 fan service in it.
Is it Supercub? If it is, I don't think it does, though the ln artist does do that sort of work.

Regardless, his other work, Abeki's Sailor Uniform, is also going to get an adaption. That one does have fan service, though it'll probably be toned down.

New episode of Zombieland Saga is great. I wondered if it's real or a film within the series, but the adorable pair of Saki and Lily as a small child means its for real. Wonder if the two episodes will be just backstory or it will be important for the finale. It's sad this will all end up badly for Yugiri

For the weeb coomer and consoomer, the preorder of Interspecies Reviewers showed up on RightStuf. I'm hoping the retail price is a setup for the ridiculous $69.69 price joke. Still expensive, in my opinion. Wonder if they're going to do new subtitles for the show since they only did three simulcast episodes.

Doesn't Funimation still own the licensing rights to the show or did it change hands somewhere down the line?

I suppose this is a taste of what the intermediate future will be like for anime fans in the west who still want to own things on physical media: the anime Blu-Rays come in premium Steelbook packaging but also have inflated pricing compared to a few years ago.

It's not that I dislike Steelbooks but, given the choice between an anime Blu-Ray release in a Steelbook or a release of the same anime that costs $20 less but it's in a flimsy plastic Blu-Ray case, I'd probably go for the cheaper option unless there was also a soundtrack CD included.

It seems to be sub-licensed to them from Funi. They have a partnership since Right Stuf/Nozomi entertainment.

They are definitely overpriced, but thank goodness for sales. I agree, there's always better options for fans that don't want to spend a lot. Especially for steelbooks or limited editions. I sometimes import certain shows. Beats having to spend hundreds on Aniplex releases of Gurren Lagann or Kill la Kill when I can get the complete series as a European release at a cheaper price.

I stopped reading ZKC after the guy dreams after the dolphin was saved and he has a dream of the future because I fucking suck at reading drama. I really hope it ends on a high note after running for 16 years, though.

Western anime distributors seem to be pushing towards the boutique label approach of leaning more into the collector market, especially with the jumping on the steelbook trend. Most aren't anywhere near the quality level to warrant it though in my mind, most major anime publisher releases are missing the extra goodies typical (both physical and on disc) while also sometimes suffering from lack of care in encodes/transfers and subs/dubs. Only one I'd really put is Animeigo and maybe Discotek since they do put a lot of work into putting out as complete a release as possible.

I mean, it seems like the on disc extras are typically just clean ending and opening with maybe some trailers at this point. Physical extras aren't that much better.

Going region free is both a blessing and a curse with how much it opens up your options, lots of great region b releases that are a lot cheaper than their region a counterparts. Picked up the region b Blue exorcist for around 30 bucks which is a major steal compared to whatever Aniplex is charging for the region a.

I'd always advice people still into physical collecting to go region free, not even that hard now since I think you can turn most ps3 into region free machines with some homebrew. It's what I did with my old ps3.

Yeah Rightstuf is really only good for buying stuff on your backlog. I know you can kinda get a lower price by keeping stuff in your cart for a day or two and they will give you a discount, but I think its only 5-10% off.
Honestly the sites own worth using for their bi yearly sales and some weekly ones, but I'm mainly a manga buyer so I don't know to much about dvds and blu-rays prices.

Although 70 bucks still is a lot cheaper then what its like in japan. Looking at the amazon.jp page the retail price for the normal volumes are 143,00 yen (~130 usd), and each volume only has 4 episodes.

Goes to show then when ever I see people complaining about waiting price parity with japan there talking about manga (and I've been on of them) because no way in hell anyone would buy something at this price
