Edit to avoid a double post:
I hate to link ANN, but Overlord S4 as well as a film have been officially greenlit and announced as of a couple days ago.
If you mean the 2006 series, I really enjoyed it, but it's not going to be everyone's cup of Long Island Ice Tea. Each episode a character finds their way to a bar they've never seen before, and the bartender helps them sort out what's troubling them by explaining the history of the drink he's making.
Got around to catching up with 100 Kanojo, and you have to almost admire the audacity of the author to turn an entire chapter into an advertisement for their merchandise.
Not to mention, 13 girlfriends in and its starting to feel more like a weird sex cult rather than a harem.

The moment the Chemist girl gets introduced it goes from wacky funny to complete insanity. I’m all aboard to see how far it goes, but outsiders be warned, it has a shit load of weirdo fetishes.
I watched all of Demon Slayer and the movie last week, then read through the manga over the weekend. It was very nice reading through a manga that was completed and ended pretty well (imo).
Between that and completing Dorohedoro (which was incredible) a few months ago, it got me wondering about mangas that are completed and actually have a good ending...
I read through FMA a long time ago and that was the only other one I could think of. Any suggestions for any series that stick the landing? Genre doesn't matter too much to me as long as the story is good, but I'll always be a sucker for good action.

Anyone else notice that most mainstream/popular mangaka have no clue how to end a series? I've read so many and they have almost, without fail, had trash endings. Off the top of my head? Food Wars. Create nonsensical romance triangle plot, end it abruptly without answering key question but it's ok, we have an epilogue, only to half ass resolving the romance triangle subplot via long lost brother and then not really confirm/resolve the romance plot that was thrown together in the last arc, just awful.
It's at the point where the generic "everyone has a happy ending" (like Tokyo Ghoul) is fine with me. Fuck it, everything is fine, shit might be rushed to the end but everyone is fine and happy, especially after the shit he went through.
Just finished up the newest Fruits Basket and Oh my god they're fucking it up, I don't understand what the fuck they're doing. Last episode was rushed though not too bad, but this one actually feels super rushed and certain parts that are supposed to be key points from the manga have none of the build up because they cut out parts. They also cut one of my favorites scenes of Rin slapping Kagura for hitting Tohru and just had her not do anything which is super out of character for her, Kagura slaps Tohru while yelling and then it just kind of ends.
They've decided to rush through a bunch of the really important Kyo x Tohru + Tohru character development yet decided to keep a bunch of side character shit (they spent an entire episode of the Yuki Fan Club President). Things aren't having the impact they should because there's been no build up and they just decided to dump a bunch of shit on the audience this episode. It's also super likely they are entirely going to skip the Kyoko and Katsuya backstory since they didn't bother showing the dad's face when in the manga it'd already popped up which is an actual sin. They are just speeding super fast through a bunch of chapters that were really important for Tohru's development. Also added this awful anime original moment at the end of the episode for cheap drama that didn't happen in the manga.
Cuts and changes:
>Shigure first talked to Rin and how dumb she was, then Tohru heard their conversation and runs away
>Shigure and Rin notice she's in love with Kyo and is trying to break the curse for his sake
>Shigure goes to find her, then have the talk about how the Sohma family is dirty
>No Rin in sight, she's not there
>Shigure then tones down his talk to comfort Tohru and says "Everything should end someday anyway"
>Kyo finds Shigure and Tohru talking, Shigure brushes his off saying "oh Tohru had a fight with Rin that's why she's crying"
>She doesn't tell Kyo anything
>Katsuya and Kyoko's arc is completely cut, he's not a faceless man because at this point in the manga the readers already know him well
>Kagura hears Rin and Tohru talking about Kyo, then Kagura slaps Tohru and ends up faiting
>Rin calls Kagura's shit and says she has no right to be violent just because her feelings were hurt
>Tohru wakes up after getting slapped by Kagura and says she doesn't "forgive" her for the incident, in a more relaxed tone. She sees Kagura as love rival and doesn't plan to tone down her love for Kyo.
>Scene with Tohru's Granpa and Kyo is fine
>Kyo hugs Tohru and he doesn't transform (An okay change, the mangaka forgot.jpg)
>Kyo always had his moments with Kyoko in the corner of his mind
>In the anime he had forgotten about it and suddenly "remembers" he actually saw Kyoko dying, which leads to the mental breakdown we saw in the last scene
I just don't understand why it's suddenly so fucked when the last two seasons were great and now that it's the final season, the most important, they are ruining it. Was even seeing complaints on Japanese twitter about all the cut content and I can only see it getting worse. Legitimately upset at one of my favorite series of all time getting such a butchered last season, I don't even know if they'll be able to turn it around.

I've said this several times in different threads, but serialized, long-form storytelling is generally antithetical to having good endings, and manga is an entire industry based on serialized, long-form storytelling.
Simply put, there is little immediate incentive to actually having your ending planned out in advance, and a LOT of factors that can derail whatever plans you might have laid when you started, including executive meddling, new ideas, or simply just losing interest in the original story you wanted to tell after writing it for 5+ years but still being obligated to finish it nonetheless. Being able to pull off a good ending requires that you either make a plan and stick with it to the best of your ability (which takes planning, work and willpower) or being able to come up with new shit on the fly that still works with what's been established previously (which takes a lot of skill and writing talent).

Holy shit no, oh God please say it ain't so. I remember hearing something that they've made a few tweaks here and there because what was "normal" or "appropriate" back in the '90s isn't looked upon as fondly nowadays, but if they fuck with Tohru's parents like that, that is some literal grade-A bullshit. Worst part is the anime-only people aren't going to know the difference and still praise the shit out of it just because they cried during it.
I'm not even watching the season right now (waiting for the entire dub to be available), but learning about that is pissing me off.

I'm holding out hope that it still happens, but all the skipped content this episode is making me nervous especially at them not even including his face. Even this episode had a lot of anime only praising it because it made them cry, but it just didn't hit hard enough compared to the manga and a lot of manga readers were complaining.

Honestly, the flashback should've happened last season since chronologically in the manga, it happened after the Cinderellaish play and before Akito was revealed to be a woman. I waived it off as them wanting to move it to the last, more hard-hitting season because drama, but now I'm legit concerned they're not going to even do it.

I don’t follow One Piece, but I seem to recall reading that the guy behind it has the ending written and hidden away somewhere in his home so that he’d never forget it. Not sure if that’s the case still or ever was, but I wish more people had that kind of foresight.
My main gripe with OPM is that it’s never going to finish at the rate it’s going.

I'll give Symphogear its due, the fact the series was written to end at the end of each season (except AXZ, as XV was commissioned at the same time) but still manages to conclude in a way that ties up plot threads that were hinted at from the first season satisfactorily and thematically is a damn good achievement. Its certainly not a beacon of good writing (Noble Red were a disaster of missed opportunities) but just having it all come together like that over 8 years is grand

I'm watching the dub so I'm a bit behind but Jesus Christ. Tohru seeing Kagura as a rival?? What is this OOC bullshit? Mind you, it's been several years since I read the manga so I've forgotten some things, but rushing Tohru's character development moments isn't good.
If they cut out Kyoko and Katsuya's story I'm gonna be so pissed, that's one of my favorite parts of the whole manga.

To this day, I still cannot find it in me to stop hating Akamatsu's editors for forcing him to suddenly end Negima but props to Akamatsu for at least giving some closure on what happened to class 2-A and this ending page:
