The pretentious voice is in fucking overdrive in the latest video. Also I remember the Jojo 5 video being extremely bad, it was very much the "muh themes" shtick MauLer makes a living out of pointing out. I think he tried to argue that there is a theme of personal connections in Jojo 5 but that theme:
1. Doesn't attribute to anything.
2. Doesn't make sense considering the villain was shown to have incredibly loyal people to him.
Like with Part 5 most of the points were just really standard Part 5 praise and the personal connections thing was the only interesting idea he had that was new. Everything else was surface level and I think it’s cause he really has no passion for part 5.

I don't normally watch Super Eyepatch Wolf unless one with an interesting subject comes up in my recommendations, the most recent one that I watched was his Baki video from a year ago. Stuff like the that one and his one on pro wrestling I found the most entertaining to watch because it just felt like some guy talking about one of his passions even if it is silly. Honestly, most anitubers are pretty bad in my books with pretty surface level observations yet huge egos over being a self-perceived "authority figure" in the anime community.

The only channel recently I've actually enjoyed is the smaller anituber Nearly on Red because he seems like a really genuine guy who does in-depth analysis (sometimes to the extreme like his video on the final episode of Franxx being over 2 hours long) though uploads can be slow due to it. He only just now started back up doing his HnK series review after stopping awhile ago, which is now coming out fairly often much to my enjoyment.

The best anituber will always be Grumpy Jii-san however, may he rest in peace.

Just took a quick look and he did a live Twitch stream reaction to Evangelion, holy shit. Now I have to check it out.

I actually liked Will Ryan's Animerica for the most part, but that was because he did this "25 the Hard Way" which only lasted for four series (Code Geass R2, CLANNAD After Story, Ef: Tale of Memories/Melodies and Rumbling Hearts; he was apparently supposed to do Attack on Titan for it but it never happened 'cause his personal life took a U-turn or something like that). It might've fallen through because the flagging system fucked him over especially with his Code Geass reviews, but like he looked at them episode by episode to see how they progressed and if they ever undid the previous legacy (such as R2), and with the visual novel adaptations, he made sure to go play the source material to do the compare-contrast to see how the anime may have improved upon it (ef creeped him out the most though he had fun ripping to shreds the anime-version of the characters (yes, anime-version, their characters changed drastically from how they're portrayed in the visual novel), but Rumbling Hearts was his most despised and he can't understand why it had gotten so popular). Those were honestly rather fun to watch, especially since I can't think of any other anituber who said they played the visual novels of the anime they were reviewing and incorporated that knowledge into their reviews.

EDIT: Looks like he's back to doing Cover By Cover, so I'll have to check to see how that's changed since his return to YouTube.

I just want to add Super Eyepatch Wolf had a pretty good video about fake martial arts, with the incredibly retarded argument that they are dangerous because they won't be of help if you actually need to fight anyone for self-defence. Which is probably the opposite because acting like a retarded kung fu wizard is more likely to cause muggers to laugh and only beat you, rather than trying to judo a mugger far larger than you and getting stabbed for your effort.

I haven't read the manga but the video itself is very bad. It tries to use a very soft voice to get your empathy going but it's just obnoxious and over-used to the point of self parody. The argument about having an evil parent (specifically a mother) being very rare in horror is plainly incorrect and the argument that there is no horror in western comics is also wrong (it's just a niche). The video tries to pass the idea that the manga is scary by having images with scare chords and it just feels forced, I guess the guy shown the video to some people and they didn't feel fear from it, so he added scary noises to drive the idea that the faces are scary.
Chi no Wadachi (A Trail of Blood) is actually pretty good. It's a mix of psychological horror and Bildungsroman story telling. I would give it a read if you're interested in that type of literature. The mom has a mix of borderline/dependent personality disorder and severe depression while the main protag Seiichi shows signs of having the same issues as her. If he continues to grow up like her, he could very well become more psychotic than his mom.

Just want to let you guys know, “Ani Twitter” is slowly and surely turning into Tumblr with the recent happenings that are on-going.

It’s people like this that really make it hard for me to say “anime was a mistake”
I like reading the Death Note manga, but I hate the fanbase.

Pretty ironic that I’m posting this on Anime/Manga, but is this absurd to you?

I want to be optimistic and call it a reference to the recent oneshot since Trump was actually in it.

But like I said, optimistic.

The "Trump's making anime real" meme keeps becoming more real as the days go by. This timeline is unreal. :story:

ID: invaded did not disappoint. I kind of want more but I'm not sure if it needs more, kinda like psycho pass.
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm of the same opinion, it wrapped up nicely so it doesn't really need a second season, but I wouldn't mind a sequel if it were of the same quality. The layers of mystery are practically a necessity for a good sequel, so if they decide to continue it, I hope the writers are up to the challenge.

Don't know if this was every posted but Shonen Jump has a thing called the Tezuka Award where twice a year they hold a contest with 1st and 2nd place getting 2 million and 1 million yen respectively and serialization in the magazine, and for its 100th anniversary they decided to open an international category. I'm sure you all can already imagine the level of quality of some most of these entries without even clicking the link.

I finished binging the Dorohedoro manga. It's fucking fantastic though it takes way too long to events to progress once the Department Store appears that the manga feels padded out. It also makes me really dislike the Netflix adaption with how they fucked up the fanservice which is grade A in the manga.

Of some interest, a Pokémon short done in the style of 1940's cartoons!

Anime studio Ufotable Inc., widely known for its “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” series, and its president have been accused of evading some ¥139 million in taxes, sources said Wednesday.
The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau has filed a criminal complaint with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office, accusing the company and its 50-year-old president, Hikaru Kondo, of violating the corporate and consumption tax laws, the sources said.

On its website, Ufotable offered an apology to fans and people concerned over the case. “We’re committed to complying with laws and conducting appropriate operations to create an environment to make sustainable, better works,” it said.

The company said it has already filed revised tax returns and completed payments for the years ending in August 2015, August 2017 and in August 2018.

The company is suspected of hiding ¥446 million in income and evading ¥110 million in corporate taxes and ¥29 million in consumption taxes over the three years by manipulating the books at four cafes it runs in Tokyo and Osaka, the sources said.

Cafe sales in Tokyo were put in a safe at Kondo’s home. He is believed to have asked his wife, who was in charge of accounting, to exclude some ¥100 million to ¥200 million a year from the books, the sources said.

In March last year, the tax bureau searched Kondo’s home, where some ¥300 million in cash was found in a safe.

Ufotable, established in 2000, is also known for its “Tales” and “Fate” series. It also operates cafes and restaurants in Japan and South Korea.
