I'm gonna be totes honest. I've been watching the English dub of Doraemon and I really like it. Like I was just gonna watch it as a curiosity thing, but now I watch all the new episodes when they air.

Watching the new Appleseed movie (Appleseed Alpha) before I go to bed.

Visually, it looks gorgeous (this is a Shinji Aramaki movie after all), on par or perhaps better than that Captain Harlock movie he did recently, but something doesn't add up. This is supposedly a prequel to the 2004 movie and from what I remember, there's a scene where Deunan wakes up in Olympus is shocked to see that Briareos is a cyborg and doesn't recognize him at first. But then this movie starts, and Briareos is already a cyborg. Am I just misremembering the 2004 movie or did someone fuck up?

Also, the soundtrack in this is absolutely fucking wretched. Great animation, voice acting, and art direction, but I probably won't blame you if you turn it off within the first ten minutes because of all the dubshit music that they bash into nearly every scene. This is especially lame because I remember the 2004 movie, the XIII series, and Ex Machina having really good musical scores.

Hmm. Should I rewatch the first 2 Rebuild of Evangelion movies before finally seeing the third, or just jump into the film I haven't seen?

Monster is probably my favorite animu. It has a slow start...well...the entire series is slow beginning to end but the intrigue of it all hooks you. A perfectly crafted, unyielding, completely unfeeling villain is what you are treated to. When you can make a convincing horror of a child without making it a booga booga supernatural bullshit festival, that's when you you've succeeded. The Monster has no super abilities. He's just always one step ahead of the cast and always an ever looming threat.

I don't like anime and manga that much anymore.

However, I still love Battle Angel Alita. That comic never gets old :)

Started reading a very interesting manga called Scumbag Loser, or Saiteihen no Otoko.
Has everything a weird manga needs: Fat loser nerd, succubi, abusive dad, vigilantes, etc.

Been rewatching a lot of Shaman King recently. I used to watch my brother play a game on the PS2 that was based on it, was really good to both of us.

I also watched Madoka and WataMote. Liked both of them.

A lot of people compare Pacific Rim to Evangelion, but I felt it was closer to Dai-Guard. It's probably my favorite anime.

I was so stoked when I heard Dai-Guard was appearing in SRW Z2. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was considered a gamebreaker.

Oh Dai-Guard.
A true inspirational piece, I remember when I saw this card on Cardfight Vanguard Trading Card Game:

Watched DD Fist of the North Star. Might not be everybody's cup of tea because it's a parody gag series to the original but I do like the continuity in-jokes they make.

I saw an episode of Attack on Titan recently on Adult Swim/Toonami. It confused yet intrigued me. I should binge watch the series on Netflix at some point.

The last anime series that I exceptionally enjoyed was Madoka Magica.

If you're really interested, you should start by reading the manga. The anime only covers the first story arc.

Shingeki no Kyojin and Sword Art Online are taking turns. When Sword Art Online Season 2 reach to an end, I believe we will have a new season.

I know, I was saying for now. The manga is much farther ahead anyway.

Starting reading Parasyte today, as it is getting an anime soon. Pretty damn good so far. Like a mix of The Thing and Future Diary.

I think the comparisons of Pacific Rim and Evangelion are pretty retarded to be quite honest (almost as bad as the people who somehow tried to compare Edge of Tomorrow to....Warhammer 40k? Seriously, these people exist). Pretty much the only thing they have in common is giant robots, and technically the EVA units aren't even robots so much as they are cybernetic organisms.

It seems like works in the mecha genre as a whole get a lot of really stupid comparisons thrown at it by people with shockingly narrow cultural perspectives. Shows about people piloting giant fuck-off robots have been a thing since the mid-to-late 1950s but the peanut gallery really does love talking out their collective ass.
