Watched dungeon meshi.

Not sure why but prior to watching it, I assumed it was a comedy anime about a brain damaged party eating random monsters and dying over and over again.

Like Konosuba.

Turns out no it's actually good and can be serious. Really enjoyed the universe and twists and turns.

Also don't get why there's so many people with the cat girl avatar, she's not that good/cute.

Senshi is the real og here. Made me like all drawf universaly more.
Izustumi was prototype member of the party from the one shot and her role is a ruder Chilchuk. She’s the female party member for Marcille and the half monster for Laius.

She effectively helps build new trios for character dynamics.

Oh my stupid auto correct struck again.

I wanted to say that I don't get the infactuation people online have with her. I've seen a lot of people using her as avatar or in gifs

God knows why either she or Hikaru wanted to help the stalker kill Ai's doctor though
I think the Stalker did that on his own. The intention was always to get to Ai ,but he got spooked when the doctor approached him though. Of course that means the entire premise of Aqua's character is now:

Because Ai's ex boyfriend and former fellow Idol were jilted they leaked what hospital Ai was at (that they somehow knew despite Ai having dumped her boyfriend and management concealing the truth of Ai's pregnancy to everyone), and sent Ryosuke the stalker to murder her in the hospital. However when a doctor outside thinks he's acting weird and asks for his information, that same doctor instead of calling the police, alerting security, or Ai's manager chooses to chase the guy into the woods, then lose track of the guy and get pushed off a cliff before the stalker fucks off to hide for like five years.

It makes the entire setup for Aqua incredibly stupid, especially since the series shows frequently that Aqua is usually the smartest person in the room, both from his high degree of education in his past life, and his natural talents in his current one.

There was a chapter in which the crow girl told Ruby that the stalker didn't act alone, there was someone else with him that night (Ruby never brings it up again after, weirdly enough). I don't think that was Hikaru, he was still young at the time and from what he told Aqua all he intended was to scare Ai by sending a stalker to her house. That leaves us with Nino, who did hate Ai and could have found out about her pregnancy, since she was involved with both her and Ichigo.

I was thinking that since Hikaru is a good actor it is possible that his behaviour during his interaction with Aqua was just an act, or part of it at least, he might have really broken down at the end but could have muddled the information he gave to make himself seem less malicious. But then later he tells Nino he intends to turn himself in so his character might really have been retconned. Incidentally, the same conversation reveals that they both had a hand in Ryosuke's death. Was Nino the main villain all along, manipulating Hikaru into killing several people? I don't know, to me it would feel like a cheap twist. But it would explain some of the inconsistencies in Hikaru's character.

The Summer Hikaru Died was a manga that I randomly just checked out late last night since I kept seeing it on the Amazon recommendations list for new manga to get in 2024.

Even though I only read a small amount, what I can gather is that this is slice of life, but with real horror elements. Yet, somehow, the obvious yaoi subplot is shown that’s not too in your face with it.

I’m telling you; we’ve gotten to the point where even the female mangaka artists are making the horror genre look more unique than ever before. This could be the new replacement for me since Boy’s Abyss just ended almost a month and a half ago.

I like it, but I feel that after it gained popularity that the author became indecisive on her direction.
Iirc its been greenlit for an anime adaption, here's hoping that it'll beat the odds and stick to the atmosphere it has in the manga.

As the series goes on her role expands and her interactions with the party gets more depth. She gets some good chapters that put her in focus and develops her relationships with the party.
She has some good moments where she’s smug and fortune reverses on her.

I really enjoy Menshi, but it falls for the trap a lot of fantasy series do where it tries to explain shit by ripping off people who ripped off Tolkien and make fantasy bare of any Eucatastrophe or benevolent gods.

My biggest problem with Nino is that outside of a Light Novel she's barely been introduced at all. From a strictly manga point of view, I don't even remember if she was in the series before the movie arc. I have no attachment to her as a villain and while I like that Aqua's revenge on his father is revealing to him what a colossal fuckup he is, I really don't get now Nino matters at all.

Finished reading the Saint Seiya Asgard manhua. The chinese love Saint Seiya so much, that 30 years later, they decided to write and illustrate an adaptation of the anime original arc into manga form by adapting the original author style. It is so perfect that it could fit in the original work.

But in the last pages they literally have their memories erased and their bodies are basically reseted to before the arc was started because it was a filler arc lol

I met some dude recently who has similar taste in manga to me and he recommended Ajin: Demi Human which I'd previously read like the first volume of then dropped but what I didn't know is that the writer and guy who came up with all the concepts was kicked from the project after 5 chapters and the artist completely took over to write the most enjoyable thing I've read in a long time that does more with the concept of immortality than I've ever seen and most of it is due to this nigga
lets fuck em up.png
If I had to describe this dude in a sentence, it would be "Rape Everyone And Leave" only he doesn't rape cause there isn't any coomer shit in this manga, he just murders and has a really fun time doing it. I don't like the John Wick movies very much but the action scenes involving this guy are like if those movies were actually good, he makes John Wick look like a pants-shitting retard and I wouldn't be surprised to find out a lot of inspiration for those movies were derived from this manga because it does pre-date them. This motherfucker reenacts 9/11 then goes on to do it again so many more times that he gets bored of doing 9/11. The cast of characters is extremely strong with everyone being developed to some degree, even the more minor characters but Mr.Sato is the type of character who steals the show every time he's on screen. Basically, I highly recommend it, I knew after about 20 chapters in that it'd most likely become a favorite and I wasn't wrong.

There is a light novel? Nino does feel like a last minute addition. Aqua seems to have known for a while that she hated Ai, how come he never suspected her of anything before? In fact, she would have been even more suspicious than Hikaru if he thought about it. It can be explained by him being a doctor/actor, not a detective, but I don't think it's hard to suspect that the location of the hospital might have been leaked by an insider, which Hikaru was not. Especially considering that Aqua has been obsessing over the details for years.

Okay so there's a Light Novel which is relatively recent and a Short Story called 45510. Nino is from 45510. If you want a TL;DR on what the story's about, just watch the Yoasobi Music Video for Idol, its what they based the song off of.

I've read a synopsis of it, but from what I can tell its basically about Nino sitting alone in a room reading saved text messages from Ai that she got access to and steadily going crazy with jealousy while reacting to footage/a documentary about Ai made years later.

This is why the Supernatural stuff is the most obnoxious part. You get a lot of plot holes and stupid questions like this that don't really have good answers. On the other hand though, it also gives you a lot of stuff about Aqua that I actually like. For instance, I like that Aqua tries his best to be Light Yagumi or Lelouch Lampruge but consistently is too decent a person to really commit to the bit.

The fact that he still plans on saving lives and wants to be a good person keeps him from doing the things he thinks he should have to do. Like he says he'll use Kana, and then when he spends time with her realizes that he values her too much and just decides to not do that instead. I like those details, it keeps him feeling unique when compared to a lot of other revenge plot MCs.

It just sucks that the author hasn't found a way to give us those moments without a supernatural plotline that just breaks shit and creates 10,000 plotholes.

This the right thread to tell y'all that the new Terminator anime is fucking shit?

Because it's fucking shit.
Came to say this. Peace'd out in the second episode. I need to learn to not listen to normie opinions on animu. Atrocious char design, bad seiyuu and the CGI (which is so overused fucking everywhere in this) is a fucking joke. The first minute of the first episode looked good, everything after that is pure dogshit. Sloppiest of slop for the Netflix audience, imagine paying for this kind of shit.

Watched the show and loved it despite it's very weird animation, when i last looked for the manga there was only like one tankobon translated, just read the book is finished and completely translated (at least in my native language), definitely gonna pick that back up. One of the better seinen manga and (finished) seinen is all i read. Only exception i made lately on the "finished" rule is Die Wergelder because some YT twat said it was finished. Excellent book, Hiroaki Samura's unique artstyle does it for me every time.

Slightly OT but anyone know what the fuck is going on with the retards at nyaa? A stand-alone client instead of the "unsafe" BitTorrent network? Seems like some third-worlders want to cash in on piracy. Again.

It's very short, I'll read it. But I'm not sure how to feel about needing to have read external material to understand the background of a character so important to the plot.

I actually appreciated that the reincarnation aspect was not just a one-off isekai thing, as inconsistent as it otherwise was. For example, to me it seems that Aqua is not a proper reincarnation of Goro but is rather possessed by him. But Ruby does seem to be the same as Sarina. I like those details about Aqua too.

Oh, one other thing I don't really know how to feel about was the incident with the famous director and Kana. He lures her to his apartment with the sole purpose of having sex with her, Kana rejects him, but for some reason stays the night regardless? Not only that, she agrees to star in one of his films after? I initially found him a realistic portrayal of a man talking advantage of a girl in a desperate position, doing his best to seem nice and understanding enough to lull her into a false sense of security, but then later on the manga seems to want us to draw the conclusion that he wasn't a bad guy after all.

That is why I didn't read it either. I think a work should either stand on its own or not at all. I don't care the Nino is sort of explained there. I do care that she doesn't feel like she belongs in the main body of work despite being apparently a very pivotal character.

I think this is Oshi No Ko getting itself twisted, because in a lot of ways there's two stories happening at once in Oshi No Ko. On one hand you have the story of the Manga with its Super Natural Murder Mystery plot. On the other hand its a pretty comprehensive look at the Japanese Entertainment Industry.

I get the distinct feeling that Kana going to the directors house was so that they could take a moment to have a plot point about how sleazy some directors are and how unfair paparazzi can be. On the other hand they needed to show Kana in danger so we could understand Aqua's priorities better, which kind of harkens back to what we were talking about earlier with Aqua's obvious affection towards Kana and his unwillingness to be as awful as he knows he needs to be.

They wanted to make a point about a real life thing, then use that thing to fuel the fictional thing. The fictional thing of course being: Aqua cares so much for Kana, that in a plot centered around the idea that he is killing someone for killing his mother, he would choose to sacrifice his mother's perfect reputation in order to protect Kana.

Its actually a very strong characterization for Aqua. However it being there completely muddles how you're supposed to Interpret Kana and the shit with the director. The Director cannot go full Sleazeball because Kana must be protected. Kana must be protected so she can be slandered by uncaring Paparazzi. Uncaring paparazzi must be as awful as they are in order to get us to a point where Aqua can sacrifice Ai's public image for Kana.

And all of that must happen so that Aqua and Ruby can realize who they are, and all of that is a long way of saying: They used their position in discussing the reality of the entertainment industry to fuel fictional drama and it both lessens and cheapens the strength of the RL condemnation because the RL stand ins must act differently in the fiction in order to facilitate the plot.

Didn't see anything about that on .si when it finally loaded for me.
