Until the companies slam down on that.
There's always the chance someone'll either figure out a way to lower costs, or find profit from alternate revenue sources.*

Until said individual gets one in the temple after Comcast launches their fatwa.

* Presumably a video equivalent of newsnewspagepage "sponsored content".

The one thing that can probably survive in the YouTube environment is dedicated streaming sites like Twitch, especially with the popularity of online video game events and tournaments such as the League of Legends Championship Series (which attracts millions of viewers every time it goes on). YouTube has its own streaming service but iirc most people prefer Twitch and the like.

Ignoring the fact that picking on Pixels is like saying that Ride to Hell: Retribution is terrible (context for non-gamers), I notice that Doug is basically reviewing current movies and using his actors to play out the scenes since, you know, the movie is fairly current and there's no easy way to acquire high definition footage of the actual film.

It kinda just highlights how bad all of the skit segments were when the reviews are nothing but skit segments now. It's like Demo Reel if... actually yeah it's just Demo Reel again.

Well, when you have been reviewing crap for the past 8 or so years, you tend to start aim for the low hanging fruit.

We also had the Game Grumps get a few people doxxed this week, after Arin got frustrated at the fact he sucks at video games and couldn't follow a 10 year old walkthrough, Danny read out the author's name and the legion of Game Grumps spergs went out and doxxed anyone with that name.

As for Doug Walker doing Pixels, I can see why he did it, as it's linked to many nostalgic video game properties, but good God man, at least wait for the fucking DVD!

I don't know if the Grumps knew how bat shit their audience can be, or maybe it didn't occur to them that if you have a fanbase as big as they do, you shouldn't go around mentioning people's names in a negative light. I really like the grumps but they should have known better

I agree that they should have known better, but they even said in the show that he'd probably get doxxed because they gave his real name, yet did nothing to even try to discourage that kind of disgraceful behaviour. Their sub-reddit is even pissed at them for this.

The grumps are not generally known for how smart they are. Also, Arin is kind of a dick. They reuploaded the video and censored the name but they should have done that in the first place.

But that wouldn't have garnered views. And Doug doesn't want that now.
He might be trying to capitalize on RLM Half in the Bag segments where they review current movies but instead of going over the technical and artistic aspects of the movie he reenacts scenes shot for shot and expects people to laugh.

Which to me translates as he's still salty about Demo Reel being a piece of shit that his fans hated despite it actually getting better as it went along. Who knows, if the spergs had not wailed and moaned and gnashed their teeth, we may have had a semi-decent web series on our hands at this point! Optimistic I know!

There's plenty of other movies he could do. I mean, he might have been on to something with reviewing Garfield and Planet of the Apes. I'm pretty sure there's bad adaptations of "nostalgic (I seriously am getting so sick of the word, people use it so much that it's like it doesn't have a meaning anymore)" TV shows, or bad re-makes of classics, or video games.

I don't know, do the Psycho remake. Do the Robo-Cop remake. Do the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies.

He could also go further backwards too, since a lot of stuff from the 60's were still being shown in the 80's. But nope, wants cheap views (seriously, he wants them timely views and to mobilize his base of retarded manchildren) and uses his minions to act out the scenes due to utter inability to actually do a review, since his reviews are literally just synopses with a shit ton of footage from the movie that hasn't been out yet.

If I remember the earliest film he reviewed was the adaptation of "The Wiz"
Also I think he started catering to the 12-15 year olds that watch his videos which I why I think he does a lot of 90's stuff and some 2000 stuff. Then he threw it out the window and does whatever the fuck he wants. He reviewed After Earth and Jurassic World. Dude should just be renamed "The Critic"

Hey, let's not get him and a much better critic confused with each other now.
