Not to mention, a lot of the reasons NC gave why he would never review those films were lame reasons.
Like, he would not review Carebears Nutcracker because it was a TV special and not released in theaters. Uh, bullshit. NC reviewed a lot of TV-exclusive crap.

Like, he would not review Attack of the Killer Tomatoes because it was a parody film and supposed to be ridiculous. Uh, bullshit. NC reviewed a lot of parody movies and acted like the movie took itself seriously. Remember Last Action Hero and Leprechaun?

Like, he would not review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III because James Rolfe already did it, he did it perfectly and there was nothing more he could do with it. Oh, you mean like with We Wish You A Turtle Christmas? Something even Obscurus Lupa adressed as she reviewed it?
 
He also said he would not review Matilda since he was afraid of fans getting angry at him yet he has no problem shitting on adaptations of Stephen King books and mocking the responses he got.
 
TBH, I give that video less crap since it was done back in the 2011-2012, when Doug hadn't yet turned into the shitfeast his show is currently. Even he wouldn't know what would happen to him and the quality of his show in over five years.
 
Wow there are some desperate companies out there if they think Doug Walker is a good spokesman for their products.

At this point, why even have a "Things I won't review" guideline when you're only going to break it?

FWIW, it's more of a dramedy/Melodrama according to Brad. I'll give him props for branching out. Question, who here's willing to pony up $20 just to rip it and see how it is for themselves?

Also, I've never got the sense that Brad, the unabashed schlock lover, has any highfalutin pretentions about his movies.

Edit: You could say the same about the Channel Awesome movies, too, but there was a lot more riding on those, if only on a symbolic level. They were meant to exude a sense of camaraderie that would reflect well on the existing motley crew and surely attract new lifeblood when the time called for it.

They never accounted for several contributors of rank to depart at once. Or a lot of things, really.

Compared to other Channel Awesome projects, this honestly seems like it might not be half-bad. At the very least, it's nice to see Brad return to settings, subjects, and aesthetics he's genuinely fond of, rather than another Jesus, Bro!-type excuse to take the piss out on something. So even if the final product turns out to be bad, I can't imagine myself being too hard on it, because at its core it's just earnest art by a dude living the dream and making movies with his pals.

I am hard on Brad's decision to make it Patreon-exclusive though; it reads as greedy and elitist, especially coming from a guy who makes a living endorsing other filmmakers' schlocky cheap works.
