This is probably a stupid question, but who's Paul Latza and how's he tied to CA? I've never heard of him and I was on Channel Awesome longer than I should have been.

Allow me to quote what I posted on the TGWTG thread. Not that what I have to say is super informative, but it might help.

"Next up we have the Man on the Outside Looking In. There'll be quite a bit of information--you could say, Latza information--in that video. That's one I've been looking forward to doing, just because I think it's gonna be funny."

Turns out he's referring to Paul Latza, a video editor who was involved in Channel Awesome shenanigans at some point. One Google search of "paul latza tgwtg" will lead to two links on the first page full of people talking about him. He even has his own lolcow thread here, if you want to check that out.

His Facebook doesn't take you anywhere, and his Twitter is private as of this writing.

He also ran an Indiegogo campaign for a film called "My Date With a Secret Agent." Looking at how much was raised for it...yeah, it didn't turn out well for him, to put it lightly.

I think I've covered all the basics for now as far as Latza is concerned. I had no idea this individual even existed until after I finished watching the Angry Joe episode, so I'm interested in seeing what Jim has in store for us next month. For me it's going to be a learning experience and a half.

He seems to be someone in the background. Apparently he applied to RLM at one point.

I skipped around the first several minutes because I'm not watching this whole thing. I'll give him this in that he's gotten way better at enunciation and his mic is certainly better. Outside of that there's no good reason to be this long and he's still got that problem of severely overanalyzing shit.

That's true, yeah. I think Enter does have potential, and there are parts of his videos I enjoy, but I feel like he'd be a whole lot better if each new video wasn't a half-hour long.

I hate to say this but this is the first, if not, the only video that I actually agreed with him on something. But I do agreed with you guys that it could've add potential because I really do not get the appeal with totally spies at all. Even when I was a young i still don't get why people like it.

I don't care how much Entard has improved - Totally Spies! is such a fucking easy target to begin with - only because said show always sucked, honestly. What more could Entard say to convince me of otherwise? Besides instead of wasting close to, or worse, over half an hour bashing one episode??

If he really wanted to do this shit right, he'd critique this show (without over-analyzing, of course), either season-by-season, or better yet, review the whole show in one sitting (via a proper summary/critique on concept, characters, plot/storytelling, setting, anilation/artstyle, etc.), not just one whole episode.

Too bad I'd rather see this guy crash and burn, rather than really help his sorry over-analyzing ass out, but oh well.

It really isn't a high bar, given how almost no one remembers the show for anything more than the contrived plot elements/fetishes. Especially those on 4Chan.

If anything, it's pretty low on the animation-mocking rung as @Shokew said.

I think I'm in the minority of people who prefers longer videos. It might be because I usually listen to videos while I'm doing something and I like not having to click on a new video.

Marzgurl had a long head start on everybody else at CA to be the anime reviewer since her presence goes back to the beginnings of TGWTG. Everyone else who stood as competition at the time fell apart in one way or another, which consisted of Girl with the Goggles and Suede. This was back when ad revenue was still massively profitable. She was going strong at first but ultimately squandered it by only barely ever producing a video once in a blue moon. A couple years down the road and she was, unsurprisingly, eventually replaced by JesuOtaku and then by Bennett the Sage. She was the only CA producer who made content less often than Spoony.
At least Bennett the Sage's videos can make me laugh once in a while

https://youtube.com/watch?v=AHUV8QLpEAcWell that was fast. I was honestly not expecting this so soon.
Probably explains the weirdly long hiatuses between videos we seem to be getting. Hopefully we get a proper Dark Tower and Dunkirk review so we can get Mike to do another Bane impression.

I personally gave up when he got really defensive about how he constantly complains about TTG.

UPDATE: Powered through the rest. He isn't looking forward to OK K.O. Between that and being late jumping on the Rick & Morty/BoJack Horseman bandwagon, he has some of the worst instincts I've ever seen in a reviewer.
