Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Joe bitched about profits and views before? Not on the level of DSP or anything, but I recall that being one of the reasons he doesn't do more video game reviews. I think it was something like if he did two a month he'd have to spend more on costumes (because that's of course an integral part of any video game review that cannot be left out) and the quality would drop because it would be rushed, so there would be less views and less money to put into the next review. Him saying he doesn't care about the views or subscribers is just pure bullshit.

Doug will find a way to complain about every insignificant thing and interject a bunch of poorly acted skits in them.

Really, the movie's one of those that has low material to work with, and has next to nothing to work with that no one doesn't know about at this point.
 


I haven't seen the vid, but I imagine this is how it'll go.

1- Best Spider-man movie since they're MCU shills
2- The Raimi movies are stupid because they dared to be goofy
3- Willem Dafoe was a horrible Goblin
4- Gwen may be the best girlfriend cause she's hot, but this new MJ is better than the old one cause she's black and we gotta pander to our tumblrina audience.

Honestly, it's not like Spider - Man and (definitely) Spider - Man 2 are still shining examples of Marvel's best efforts before the MCU ever fucking showed up on the scene.

I'll admit that Homecoming was alright, despite all the goddamn unfortunate Tumblr pandering that can easily be spotted from a mile away (MJ being a major example), then yeah - I can see why people would think otherwise and I don't hold it against them if they outright hate this movie for THAT.

MJ's portrayal in this film is pretty fucking garbage, looking back at it (and I knew Tumblr had something to do with that one, which makes it more unfortunate and leaves the movie worse off, compared to Raimi's work (sans 3, of course.), honestly.) - and that's despite, again, that I otherwise found this movie to be alright, looking past all of this, of course.

Other than that, I ain't sitting through Doug and co.'s umpteenth pandering session to whomever they want free candy from this week.

I know, they're not perfect, but the hate Doug directs towards them I think is overblown. Especially since his reason of hating them has to do with "they're not as serious/edgy and gritty at the Dark Knight, therefore they suck". And yet he gives a pass to the MCU despite their films being filled with corny jokes.

Having re-watched the first film recently, it's a fun, if not overly cheesy, and somewhat flawed, romp for its time. But Doug calling Defoe "The worst Green Goblin" is uncalled for.

Last I checked, Green Goblin's supposed to be an over the top loony. I felt Defoe fit that bill perfectly.

Wait, fucking seriously? When was this? Also, Dane DeHaan gave a campier performance as GG, but for whatever reason that was a-ok to Doug.

I guess Doug would prefer Green Goblin be a rip-off of Heath Ledger's Joker or he may complain about it being a rip-off.
 
Honestly, everyone remembers and loves Dafoe's GG. That stupid voice is iconic. Doug will often shit on the campier things people like in order to appear like he has the more "refined and dignified" choice. He did that with The Grinch and he's doing it here. It's just him showing off and being a snob.

The fact he lacks that amount of self-awareness amazes me, because he should be the last man to talk about that subject when Chester, Douchy and even Ctitic have voices that are flat out annoying. Hell, even when he's not in character, his voice sounds goofy as fuck.

Also, dignified taste my ass. Doug likes the first two TF films and Steven Universe, if anything, he has the same "refined" tastes as his fanbase.
 
A little OT, but watching the movie again, I kinda liked that Dafoe had a different voice for Goblin. It's always bothered me that nobody realizes Spider-Man is Peter Parker despite them sounding exactly alike, and yet Dafoe actually goes out of his way to disguise his voice.

Doug criticizing Dafoe's performance kinda reeks of "My tastes are too refined for this!" Like okay, it did go over the top, but I actually thought it made the character work. He's supposed to be insane, and he's trying to get into Spider-Man's head. Not to mention, he criticizes Osborne for acting like a "scared little girl" when he confronts himself; I mean it's not like he realizes he's murdered dozens of innocent people and the Goblin persona is driving him insane.
 
Has Doug even watched Dafoe in anything before shrugging him off as a shitty actor? Like he can do subtle as well, he's got a good range of memorable roles. That Doug has only seen him in kid's films is entirely his fault.
