Whoo boy, not a minute in and I can already tell him that there's people out there who think some of the sequels aren't that terrible (An Extremely Goofy Movie, Aladdin and The King of Thieves, the Lion King sequels, Bambi 2, etc.).

Admitedly, it's not a big accomplishment. But he's just brushing them all off as bad at the beginning, only to call Return just "awkward". And had he done the most cursary of research, he'd realize these weren't by Disney's theatrical units (as they were busy with the regular films), but by their TV units.

To be fair, I think he did at least know that fact, since he mentions at one point that Return of Jafar started out life as the pilot episodes for the TV series before being edited together into a DTV movie. And he outright says in his Aladdin and the King of Thieves review that it looks good for something done by a TV animation team.

Guess I missed that part then. My apologies. But still, I see this series being pretty decisive regardless.

Not sure if this person has been posted here yet. Relatively new, Intersectional Feminist Disney Worshipping Media Critic. The next generation, being raised on Channel Awesome has arrived. Qualifications? Creative Writing Class.

Oh god, the salty spastic SJW (seriously, it's like she took sugar caffeine pills).

Disliked and not-subscribed.

And the moderators of the Channel Awesome Facebook Group are SJW white knights, in case you didn't know already. Justin Fruhling has proven several times to be a total tool. (he also has his own critic channel where he has so little views he makes Chris-chan's new channel look like PewdiePie's)

Oh, and BlockbusterBuster is one of the most annoying reviewers I ever watched; he has no style, no grace, and he has a fucking stupid face.

When Doug talks about the King of Thieves, he says it's a good film for a direct-to-whatever project but the thing that made him dislike it was the story between Aladdin and his father. Obviously he grew up with both his parents and had a good relationship with them, so of course a story about a deadbeat dad who wishes to make amends towards his son would fly over his head. Disney was trying to make the characters human and relatable, and in the case of Aladdin's dad it's perfectly natural to swing through your emotions when your career and pride is on the line. I loved that movie due to their internal conflicts. Plus the animation was amazing, something that Doug does acknowledge. But I hate how one little thing that he doesn't agree with fucks up the whole movie's credibility for him. It's like the Matrix, because he thought the name "Neo" was stupid that ruins the film.

I remember there was an amazingly stupid commenter called Victoria something... she kinda sperged on NC's "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) review.

Basically she said "You are a meanie! I loved watching this movie when I lived abroad because I was a lonely nerd!
Too many times people point the flaws of this movie, and you point those flaws too, and I am sick of that, therefore they are invalid!! I skipped most of the review because of this!
And this movie is like totally feminist and cool, because Alice doesn't wear boob-sock armor in the end!! And if you are going to badmouth this movie, you better do a negative review on Rise of the Planet of the Apes!! This one sucks big time!!"

And she would repeat herself on those points, and even accuse audiences of sexism for bashing this movie because the protagonist happens to be female!!

Oh, and does anybody remember the late 2000s "Thatguywiththeglasses" days?
There was a stupid little kid calling himself "The Angry Movie Dork" (with an avatar ripped off Confused Matthew) who often commented on NC videos, saying stupid trolling bullshit like:
"Fuck Mario, LUIGI ROCKS!!"
"Something terrible happened to me today... worse than Hitler's genocide..."

Cue the flame wars.

This kid also fancied himself an "angry critic". He had (has?) a miserable YouTube channel with barely a couple reviews on them...
How bad was he?
Why, TVTropes back then had a "Web Video" section for the "So Bad It's Horrible" part of their site. And Angry Movie Dork had his entry!! Apparently, one of his reviews was a complete knock-off of Doug's "Jingle All The Way"!

And to think we thought the Irate Gamer was the "worst" reviewer on the Internet!
Even back then I thought the backlash against IG was disproportionate. And that the same jokes, repetitive parodies (Irritated Gamer, Upset Gamer, Third Rate Gamer...) against him grew really old really fast... and that the Irategamersucks blog is more of a lolcow than IG will ever be, with a true bunch of A-Logs.

Well when Doug's writing skills consist primarely of "OOH LOOK AT THIS REFERENCE! THAT'S A THING, RIGHT?". I don't exactly expect him to grasp the concept of character development or relatable characters.

Sigh, he gets Romeo and Juliet so wrong. The adaptation doesn't work if it doesn't get the message- that it shouldn't end in a happily ever after. It's a feud, told by the eyes of their two children. The whole point of them dying to trying to show how pointless the feud was, and how blind their parents were, since they refused to listen to their children. I mean, West Side Story fucking gets it more than this, come on.
Sorry, my Shakespeare spergery is strong but i really do not like seeing schmucks just don't get the point of his plays and then going around saying how "their" opinions are better. You never see them doing that with other playwrtiers/novelists either way.

I bet you Strider dislikes most Shakespeare because it's "too violent!1!"

Besides that, am I the only one who thinks he's kinda of an hypocrite? Most of his guilty pleasures have elements that he otherwise LAMBASTS in other shows/movies.

Well, that is why they're called guilty pleasures. Though you could say that every kid's cartoon you like is a guilty pleasure if you're watching them in your 30s.

Off-topic, but wasn't R&J also a bit of a tract from Shakespeare against letting young teens get married? Their whole romance is doomed because both parties are dumb, hormonal teenagers who don't know what they're doing?

On-topic, everyone's favourite nasty cockslut 'reviewed' three 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' comics over October. What's the betting where was an awful "horror" plotline with Lewis-dressed-as-Freddy causing badly-written havoc?

Agreed, idk what's going on with him but his videos just aren't funny anymore. I guess he just ran out of ideas or something.

I agree with you two. For whatever reason I just can't find myself enjoying his new videos. Whenever he reviewed games it feel more natural, and I did like when he did review Halloween themed shows. However, his latest videos are terrible if I'm being honest.

It's more of a cautionary tale tbh. That the whole feud between the families was pointless, and if they had spent time with their children instead of battling one another all of this fiasco could've been avoided. The story is less of a romance and more of a drama told through the point of view of the children.

Not to mention it was based around an older story/original interpretation of the tale.

I respect it, but I think it's too much of him trying too hard to be a "serious artist" about making videos on the internet, which makes them forced and kind of kills the only reason people watch those types of videos. Dude's got plenty of money so if he wants to do new shit and change all the time, good for him, but not all "(personal/creative) growth" is good growth. Part of it is reflecting on what works and what doesnt, what's good and what's bad, what's moving and what's staying, especially if you want to run it as a business you have to balance your desires and your growth or whatever, against your audience and consumer base.

I can't even skim through his newer stuff to mock it.

It's bad enough when it's just him and his ear-bleedingly obnoxious voice from start to finish reading a comic aloud. But now it also has a ton of manchild-in-costume action and incredibly exceptional acting.

Unless he found a way to shoehorn it into some contrived plotline he's currently got going on, I can't say I see it happen.

He did it. Freddy apparently stalked him even when he was awake or some shit.

I apologize if I'm late to the party but this guy really reminds me of that guy who went under the name "Mr. Anime" and murdered his family.

It can't be just me.
