Say what you will. I studied in college, both here in the States and in Tokyo, public and private lessons, flew to other cities to get certified as best as I could, and stopped only when I ran out of money. If that makes me a weeb, I accept it. But I don't see how doing what the director told me to do makes me a weeb. Call me a weeb based on the things I did to get me there, not on Doug choosing to cast me as San from Princess Mononoke and telling me to say all my lines in Japanese. I knew from the second he asked me to do it that everyone was going to hate it.

So you guys didn't pick your own character? Got a feeling Phelous didn't like his part lol

No. None of us ever picked our own character. Those were written for us well beforehand. In fact, for To Boldly Flee, I was first told I was going to be Leela from Futurama. I was just about to buy the stuff to make my costume when only, like, two to three weeks before the filming the character was changed to Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. So, good thing I didn't buy costume parts for Leela, because I would have been screwed.

In regards to making the costumes, since I bring that up, they wanted to keep the costumes we made for later. We were to bring them the receipts for anything we bought to make them so they could reimburse us. But I really didn't want them using my Major Kusanagi costume, so I just kept it.

Was it the same with Suburban Knights?
I am asking that cause frankly, SK is in my opinion the worst one you guys did. Storywise. I always thought the idea of you guys being forced to dress up as fantasy characters was extremely tacked on and felt like someone made a Seltzerberg Movie

As far as them trying to buy our costumes for us, no, I don't recall them asking anybody to give over their costumes for that movie. That didn't happen until To Boldly Flee. As far as the characters being written for us, like I said above, yes, it was the same. None of us picked our characters. They were already written into the script. I did not choose to be San (If I had, I would have called her San on screen, not "Princess Mononoke", as she is never referred to as Princess Mononoke in the film, despite what my line in the movie says).

I'm kind of confused why someone would make use of a character in their movie if they don't even know their proper name.

I don't know anything about anime so I always thought you were playing Lara Croft

I asked in one of the other threads whether LordKat was given a script for Kickassia and he said he wasn't. Do you still have your script for any of the films and if so, would you mind posting them? I'm curious to see what Doug's writing looks like on paper.

I had to check, but I actually somehow didn't delete the old script from my E-mail inbox. I don't really know that it'd be kosher for me to post the script here. I'll tell you this much, though, the script we were given was called "Flights of Fantasy" at the time, so I didn't know it was getting renamed to Suburban Knights until the first trailer dropped. And when you open the script up, it's titled "DUNGEONS AND CRITICS". Anyway, I'll give you just these couple of lines from when I show up on camera as San to show that it was written that I translate my lines and that my lines call me Princess Mononoke rather than San.

NC

How about Marzgurl, is she around?

A crunchy, biting noise is heard out of frame. NC looks down and screams.

NC

Ow!

MARZGURL rises up to reveal she’s dressed as Princess Mononoke,

MARZGURL (in Japanese)

I am Princess Mononoke, half woman half wolf. Daughter of the great wolf God Gillian Anderson!

She bites NC’s arm. He uses his sword to bat her away.

NC

Okay, okay, you’re an animal rights nut, Got it!

Careful, you're going to get labeled a troublemaker posting all of these secret, high quality jokes.

Jeez channel awesome is terrible run shit show. i found it kinda of dumb that the don't at least ask the actors what type of character they want to play, but then again that would require them to actually think that they aren't spellerbergs and that other people matter in production a of film.

I wish I could say any of this was even secret. Most of what I've stated has been public information before. And the hunk of script I shared not only was pretty innocuous but also remained mostly unchanged from what actually ended up in the movie.

Hypothetically if you guys (LordKat and Marzgurl) said no to the Anniversary movies would the Walker bros. have bullied you to appear in them?

Bullied? No. Guilted? Yes. Doug tried to guilt me into doing Suburban Knights, and we eventually agreed on a phone call cameo. I had no interest in doing the anniversary films after that Kickassia bullshit.

One thing I've always wondered:

The... really disturbing fanworks. How do you even deal with that shit? I'd probably go mental.
Mostly, they're easy to not think about. For the most part, people don't share their weird stuff they wrote or drew directly with me. It was definitely a strange sensation in the beginning because I'm a person who, before producing web content, felt like nobody much paid attention to who I was and I felt like I was the person who noticed what everybody else was doing, but nobody noticed me. So to suddenly be thrown into a world of bizarre fan works was very weird at first, yes. But they haven't directly harmed me, even if some of the stuff is stuff I don't like. On the flip side, most of it is rather innocuous. In the grand scheme of things, I probably have it pretty good by comparison to others who are much more popular than I am.
