Nope. No introduction. He just appears at the beginning of the movie. FamiKamen Rider and Holocaust share a few blows, there's an explosion and they both die then and there.
So "pointless" would be understating the importance of the guy in the film, huh? Good to know.

I really hate being on the opposing side of this, but I'm just going to leave this here. Please don't shoot the messenger, but Marzgurl has responded to the discussion of the movie on here.

Jeez. Where does one even begin?

First off, fucking word wall. (Insert Trump joke here). It could have been short and sweet "We didn't mean to insult anyone" and explain a few points as quick as possible. But the word wall makes it come off as whiny and annoying. That alone makes it hard to take seriously.

Secondly, this feels like someone who can't take criticism trying to cover her ass and blame everyone else for the issues. Which isn't a good sign. Cheap, ugly costumes are still cheap and ugly, no matter what excuse you give. Hell, I'd argue that even the anniversary films had better costumes than this. And the costumes looked utterly terrible (and no, I'm not just talking about Lewis's reviewing outfit). Budget can be a factor, I admit, but that's barely an excuse to have the robot henchwoman have obvious snap buttons around the neck. Or the "King of space" having a BK kids crown on his head.

And if this is what 10k can buy, then I still have to compare this to the anniversary films unfavorably because this looks like an amateur project at best. At least those films tried (failed, but tried regardless) to look like they had a budget behind them. Because aside from the FamiKamen Rider costume and some of the visual effects, this film looks like they wasted the money on other things. If it wasn't made on 10k and I'm misreading this. Then that's the perfect reason as to not make the fucking response a long-ass text wall.

And regardless of the context of the FamiKamen Rider/Dr. Holocaust fight. That it was put in the movie with little to no explanation doesn't change the fact that it's out of place even within the context of the plot. It could have just been a stand-alone short (like it was intended to be) and the movie could have opened with something else instead.

Maybe if MarzGurl didn't have a stick up her ass trying to write her response and actually read what was being said, this wouldn't be happening. But hey, more power to her if she wants to misread the thoughts of a site that mocks and criticizes people on a regular basis.

And now here I am. Likely still a bad idea, to my confession.

I have read, and said you're allowed to dislike the movie. It really is okay. And if you don't like how we started the movie with that fight clip, that's okay, too. I'm not hurt about it.

But you also didn't read. I said we did NOT have $10,000. We had $200. You'd better believe the Channel Awesome movies and the AT4W movie look better. The AT4W movie had a $63,000 budget. We had nothing and no one. I said that the $10,000 was for Justin's miniseries. We did not have access to that money, and I have no idea where it went or how it was utilized.

It's okay to not like the movie or the way we did things. I'm not satisfied, either. We did what we could when MAGFest asked us to make something in under a year on the one year mark of Justin's passing, and we did the best we could.

Thank you for your criticisms. It's juat that some of them are uninformed, therefore I explained them.

Except for that one post earlier about the selling of Justin's games. Those aren't his games. Only the FamiKamen Rider cartridge was his. I'm not sure how you can come to the conclusion that the rest of the games were his.

No one cares.

All I needed to see was the Tumblr logo. That alone makes it TL;DR.

I, personally, have not seen the movie and cannot say if it is good or bad, but all you're doing is chucking rocks at a hornet's nest.

And Linkara's movie had a $63K budget? Sure didn't look like it.

Question, how exactly did you find this thread?

Welcome to Kiwifarms! Coincidentally, channel awesome folk have fit into our little community in the past (@LordKaT), so don't be shy about posting around or whatnot.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you known about this thread? Do you lurk the farms regularly?

Like I mentioned on tl;dr tumblr, I've had a huge influx of followers and commentary in regards to FamiKamen Rider this week because I made a stupid video in which I spoke crappy Japanese telling Toei (the creators of Kamen Rider) thank you for this new season coming up in October, because the new hero will be based on video games, and I know Justin would have loved it. Next thing I knew, 28,000 people started sharing that video, and new people started searching for FamiKamen Rider.

I got a Facebook message from somebody I've never met asking if I'd seen this (because people think I need to know about everything everyone says or does about something I'm involved in, like, "Hey, did you see this dude on YouTube review your review!?"). Usually, IDGAF. Admittedly, I could have likely just left well enough alone here and gone about my life. If you don't like me or the things I make, that's fine. It's subjective, and you're absolutely free to hate me and my work. I'm not hurt about it.

It's when it comes to Justin, who's not here to tell you about the work he did or his friendships with people even when their names are bad choices, I guess that's where I figured I should come in. Not for me, but for him.

But you don't care, right? Sorry. I'll leave you guys to it, then.

Oh god, not this argument.
Look, actually some "care". Not perhpas in the way you would like it, but we kinda do.
In fact, one of the reasons I brought this thing up was that I kinda cared for Justin as a reviewer and thought myself he was a nice guy based on a lot of things I heard about him. As such, when I saw this movie coming out and its quality and such, I felt... I don't know... uncomfortable? Up till you came out to talk about certain aspects in your post (though yeah, kinda long) and based on channelawesomes more or less recent reputation, I suspected in parts the worst about this thing. Now that I heard your side of the story, I would like to elaborate a bit more on it. Though not right now, cause of time restrictions from my side.

Then I legitimately look forward to more of what you have to say. Thank you for saying this much. I do not wish to repeat making something like Farewell, FamiKamen Rider. Then again, I may never work on another movie ever again, who knows. I most definitely would not do it under financial or deadline restrictions like we had. Never want to do that again.

Just that and not the taped together glasses, the Rainbow Dash T-shirt and the Little Red Riding Hood robe or whatever that was?
Oh I didn't intend to forget them, but it was the crown that stuck out the most for me. But the entire ensemble he's wearing is pathetic. Even for a fan film. That, and the picture didn't make out most of those details, and I was basing it off of that.

First off, welcome to the Farms.

Onto the topic at hand. Yeah, that fight, while I understand it was fun for all involved. It wasn't a really good way to start the film. And probably would work as either a stand-alone short, or if it were treated like a flashback or something.

And as I said in my response, the problem with tl;dr text walls is that some things tend to blend into one another, I figured I misread it, but because of how rambling it was getting, I assumed the 10k was part of the budget. Also, the AT4W film really looked like a movie with much less of its purported $63k budget.

Thank you, for real.

The fight with Justin and me vs. Doctor Holocaust actually WAS it's own stand alone short. Like I said, Conal (who played Doctor Holocaust) released the full short in 2014. I'm on my phone right now, else I'd link you to the video, but I'm admitting to being lazy and finding doing that semi-cumbersome like this. The way we presented it really was supposed to be more like a flashback as we only used a fragment of the full fight in our movie, though I can completely understand confusion from anyone who'd never seen any of Justin's previous material.

And yeah, you're not the only one (in this thread, even) to have suggested what the AT4W movie looks like. Though I can assure you, that's how much was raised in IndieGoGo. I'm sure all this could be Googled, but you should still be able to find that IndieGoGo lying around on the web, and even places where Lewis (Linkara) publicly broke down the budget. Again, I'd totally link it myself if I weren't lazy on my phone going to bed, but I'll do it later when I get up if you want. You can decide whether or not you would have paid for things the way he did, but yeah, that's what he paid for the production, including paying his actors. Something I wish I could have done for our movie, but everybody was only working on the feeling of trying to do the right thing. Again, whether we did or not is totally up to the viewer, and I get and respect that individual opinion.

Welcome to the Farms MarzGurl. You've been a lot more reasonable than other Channel Awesome folk who've discovered content on them *cough* danolson *cough*

@MarzGurl How much did Linkara pay you? Because I'm guessing maybe $100-200 tops. His POS epic looks like it was shot over a 3 day weekend too. It seems like there were about 6-7 CA people in that turd too.

So for the sake of argument let's say he's a nice guy and paid everyone $300 for everything. No one exactly had to stretch their acting talent or anything. That's $2100 for everyone. I'm guessing the other guys who did their cameos on skype, just did a voice, filmed a bit in their home, weren't paid. Maybe they got paid $100. I wouldn't pay more than that.

So we're looking at $2500. Let's say he was a really nice guy, humor me, and paid everyone $500. That's at least $3500. Maybe 4 grand with everything. I really, really, really, really doubt he paid more than $500 at the most.

The location seemed to be at his apartment complex and it's a simple looking little studio very sparsely designed. I'd guess maybe, maybe a grand to rent that thing out and paint a green screen. So that plus makeup (ha!), plus transportation (let's say $500 for vans and gas), $1600 hotels (you guys probably had to share rooms, I also doubt he got you guys suites), Airfare was easily the most expensive so let's say between $5-10K. And, fuck it, catering maybe a grand. I doubt he did that but for the sake of argument he does that because he wants to be the big shot.

I'm still coming up just under $20 grand being spent . Maybe close to $25K if he bought a brand new camera (which I doubt he did) and lights and instead of torrenting Adobe Premiere he bought it legit like a fuck. Maybe a few hundred at most being spent shipping out shit to the backers.

So out of just under $64K he comes out with roughly $38K left. Even if this guy is the biggest dumbass out there, which is a possibility, and over spent (which I truly fucking doubt). There is no way in hell he spent all $64K on that turd. There is no fucking way.

@MarzGurl Hey there, I remember liking some of your work way back when. Of course, we don't know if it's you, so could you message a moderator for instructions on how to get verified? It's just to make sure it isn't someone pretending to be you of course, and most people just hold up a "hi kiwis" sign on Twitter.

With that out of the way, don't take the hazing too seriously, and remember that we aren't one person. You're already doing pretty well for yourself, so I hope you stay this way.
