Pop Quiz what?
Oh god you really don't know?
This embarrassment of a money laundering scheme:
It took two years and $90,000 of fan's money to make and failed. Miserably. It's been alleged that the money collected actually went to paying Doug and Co's outstanding bills and some minimal equipment, and that the "show" was cobbled together as an afterthought after people began asking too many questions. I really think they made it as shitty as possible in order to make people not want it to continue.

Goddamn that thumbnail...

You know, this reminds me that I've never seen Doug invited to any comic book/pop culture conventions (from the big ones like Emerald City or Comicpalooza, to the smaller podunk-y ones) He mostly, if only ever does anime cons. Hell, he was here last year at one, too. I guess the pop culture comic cons would rather try to get someone from the Marvel movies than they would an internet "critic" who's well past his expiration date in terms of relevance.

... Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen Linkara as a notable guest at one, either. He mostly sticks to anime cons, too, and "catch-all geek" shit like ConBravo.

Didn't he make an appearance at one of the Power Rangers cons (not sure if it was a one time deal or he appears annually).

He's a been guest at "Too Many Games" for the past few years (citation needed,) strange considering that it's a gaming con and he sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of guests.

He would stick out anywhere. Like, I'm not positive he has any real interest in anything he talks about. He seems like a guy who should be sitting at a shitty desk job for the rest of his life, whose only interest is something like baseball or reading a newspaper. The fact that people actually idolize him and want to talk to him baffles me. His entire schtick doesn't suit him. I think that's what makes me cringe the most: beyond his fame, he comes across as one of the most boring, passionless people on the face of the Earth.

In one of the anti-Channel Awesome screeds he makes when he wants to attract more than a few hundred views, LordKat made a pretty insightful point about Doug: that the Nostalgia Critic is the only good idea he has had and that it's the only one he's had that has shown legs. The other pre-Demo Reel stuff he's done (5 Second Movies, Bum Reviews, Ask that Guy) have had varying degrees of success, but nothing like the Nostalgia Critic, and it seems like the fanbase hasn't regurgitated the content from them the way they have the NC videos. Pop Quiz Hotshot more or less tried to recapture the appeal of the Nostalgia Critic, even before Doug took over hosting it since it focused on 1980s-1990s pop culture that the NC videos mined. Not sure what potential appeal they saw in Demo Reel. Maybe they thought their random access humor would entertain their fanbase without cartoon clips holding it together.

My guess would be that too. But my question is this: If Nostagia Critic always had skits with shitty costumes, Doug overacting and hit and miss (mostly miss) humor. Then why didn't Demo Reel succeed?

Is it because the fans are that kind of autistic in which they hate change? Where the hell were they when Doug changed focus from 90s/80s stuff to piss poor knockoffs of modern films?

Watching Doug do NC takes less thought and his fans can probably live vicariously through this "character". Once Doug goes beyond that, his shitty veneer cracks and he's no longer relatable to his plebe fans.

Can I leave this here? If not (forget you!), I'm doing it, anyway:

Shame this is happening - Emer was a decent reviewer. Decent enough, anyway - if only because he actually took this shit he was doing with sitting on his fat ass seriously. Make of that what you will.

Too bad the guy calling him out on this? Sure, he's less fat - but he's much less talented.

Is there anyone on Youtube that Asa hasn't feuded with?

Still waiting for when BBC and Asa square off against each other. But that's besides the point.

I know next to nothing that's going on, but with the amount of drama going on between Asa and his circlejerk. I'm just awaiting the day when they all start to turn against each other. Because Emer's already doing a good job at proving Asa's point. It's only a matter of time before they get into such arguments too.
