Oh come on Brad, you were one of the good ones! The funny or sad depending on how you look at it thing is all he really does is list good reasons why people wouldn't want to see it (It looks bad, it's not funny, the CGI look awful.) and acts like these aren't good reasons to not see it. Also there's the definitely sad fact that while James was honest and spoke from a relatable point of view, Brad was just a sarcastic asshole.

Yeah, real cuntish response. The comments on Brad's video are reminiscent of the comments of Jason Pullara's "Hello" video. We live in a world where a person is being shamed because he doesn't want to give an obviously shitty movie a chance by paying for it. You know, there's actual moral reasons to not see this film, such as their Tufts Medical Center PR Stunt.

James just announced that he doesn't wanna see the Ghostbusters remake & a bunch of people are slamming him for it, including Brad Jones.

Question- So why should anybody give a fuck what movies James Rolfe sees?

I mean dude could have just not seen it and moved on with his life.

Legit hyped for this to hit #1 at the box office just to piss off nerds. Shit should be a blast.

My guess is that they're sad they won't be able to see James tear the new film apart, even though there'll be hundreds of other critics bashing the film so one less shouldn't be an issue at all.

Well that's silly. Almost as much as getting pissy about a movie getting remade.

Patton Oswalt, is that you?

Well everybody's gonna want their favorite brand over an off label one they've never heard of.

I'm sorry, but Rolfe bitching about how searching IMDb and having to specify which Ghostbusters you're looking for is the kind of pure, uncut autism I thought he was above. Were enough of his fans asking him to weigh in on the Ghostbusters controversy that he felt obliged to address it?

More likely than not. While Rolfe himself is one of the most reasonable human beings on the Internet, his fans...well, lets just say they find ways to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Personally, I think its fine to explain why you don't want to see a movie. If it doesn't interest you, then fine, and if you are a semi big internet guy like Rolfe, I get why you'd want to explain why. It certainly doesn't warrant the autistic overload of people accusing him of being a sexist. No doubt they'll watch his old AVGN stuff and actually think that its legit and not just a character.

Thinking the movie will be a hit isn't too big of a leap. Between the Feig/McCarthy team being a consistent hit at the box office, the franchise's brand being strong and July looking pretty barren release wise there's a solid chance of Ghostbusters doing well.

Tards moaning "But it isn't MY Ghostbusters" is just a nice bonus. For someone who "doesn't know Patton Oswalt" you sure do seem obsessed with him.

Don't you get it? Being directed to the "Did you mean..." search page is a plague on the world.

As much as I respect Jame's decision, I really wished he made it more clear that the female leads weren't his biggest issues so people wouldn't claim he's sexist.

He didn't need to do the video in the first place. Dude should know has spazzy his fans are and to think it wouldn't be interpreted well (from the pro or con side) is just retarded on his part. If nothing else by putting it out it encourages the whole "Feminists ruin everything" contingency (see his site's comment section).

EDIT- If he did it for publicity or ad money, kudos. I've seen the shit spread. But what it's now associated with (whether right or wrong) probably isn't worth it.

The reason he probably did a video is he knows 75% of his fans wouldn't know or care about a tweet and he wanted to stop the hundred or so "OMMG REVIEW THE NEW GHOSST BUUSTERS IT SUX LOL" messages he was probably getting a day.

He'd be called sexist for not liking the movie no matter what reasons he gave.
Whether true or not he would then have a clear thing to point to supporting the "not sexist" side. He'd be a manchild pissy about a movie instead of a sexist manchild pissy about a movie.

Deleting e-mails or ignoring tweets isn't a massive inconvenience. It'd be way easier to avoid any controversy (warranted or not) by not saying anything.

At the very least not mention the movie until it's actually been released. Would be much easier to read once there's an actual consensus on whether it's any good or not.

Except there was the line in his video where he mentions,

"I hear people calling this the female Ghostbusters. What, do we have to call the old one the male Ghostbusters? It doesn't matter."

And most of his criticism is directed at the piggybacking off the name and the fact that he personally doesn't like the film. Anyone accusing him of being sexist didn't watch the video.

Shit was going to get blown out of perporation because people give an unusual amount of fucks about this remake. It's ridiculous but whatever. But to not give a clear and concise reply to a sexism charge (not some casual mention like that) was just poor planning on his part.

As for "not watching the video" this is all over a movie nobody has actually seen. Jumping to conclusions is the theme of all of this.

I respectfully disagree. By ignoring the gender politics he criticised REMAKES in general based on how he feels about the trailer and about the press surrounding it, using some reasonable points.

I do agree with your point about it being a trailer, NOT the full film. However, if the point of a trailer is to make you want to watch the movie, then the Ghostbusters trailer can be seen as a massive failure.
