But yeah, I do wonder how profitable their anniversary movies were. I could've sworn that either Phelous or Lupa spilled the beans that no one but Michaud and the Walker Bros. got a cut of the DVD sales.
If that were the case, it still wouldn't explain why Lewis and Todd never left when they realized "Hey, where's our royalties?"

They don't want to deal with Doug manipulating them? Rob and Mike won't let them? Misguided loyalty?
At this point, I get the feeling Lewis is doing this by choice, while Todd's clearly harboring some deep-seated hate that even we might not know about. And is only staying because it's the only thing keeping him sane.

I thought Todd left when Lindsay did.

Don't you just love that disclaimer? Good to know that people who disagree with him are merely being soft minded and thin skinned, coming from the person who copped out on the Violence Jack review.

I'll summarize the review for you.

He just knows his audience. Anime fans are thin-skinned tribalists who rage at anyone who doesn't agree with them and everybody knows it.

Also that logo in the thumbnail is hilarious. It may as well just be a fedora.

Also, anyone else notice that he stopped making videos around the time he started going out with April?

Actually, no. He had already been going out with April during the production of the Ultima reviews.

Seems like everyone wants to blame Spoony's incompetence on someone that's not Spoony himself. If he were still living with his brother, it'd be Miles' fault somehow. If it were nobody, it'd be his dog's fault.

They knew they were doing the anniversary movies for nothing at the beginning? That's what I've heard.
In that case, you gotta wonder how dumb they are to think that getting very little pay for working on a movie (even if it's a awful one) was in any way a good idea.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'm sure there was also the intrinsic motivation of "I get to spend time with colleagues I consider my friends". Not that that's a sensible reason to drop coin on these trips and get nothing for it, but has anyone on TGWTG ever been sensible, really?

Nope.

AFAIK Michaud and the Walkers paid for (almost) everyone's travel. That's where most of the films' budgets went.

Yep, most of the budget always went to travel costs because people had to be flown in. They were basically costarring in a movie as part of a paid vacation, like an Adam Sandler movie, unless it turns out they had to pay for their own hotel rooms that is.

I know that quite a few of the producers had to sleep crammed into Doug Walker's house/basement, according to the Phelous/Lupa/Cinema Snob commentaries on To Boldly Flee and Suburban Knights.

I may only like Brad, but those commentaries made sitting through those things worthwhile. Granted, I left them on as background noise, but it was still interesting to hear what went wrong with those "works".

That's really the only way you can watch those movies.

(Just an aside, did they ever explain in story why Doug's under house arrest in TBF? I assume the real reason was because he was to lazy/cheap to do more location shit, it's the in-story reason I don't get.)

Critic apparently violated the in-universe version of SOPA. So really, the answer is social commentary that was dated at the time of release.

James just announced that he doesn't wanna see the Ghostbusters remake & a bunch of people are slamming him for it, including Brad Jones.

I didn't even know who this Oswalt guy was until he made his "stand".

And he pussies out immediately after.

I would say shit hit the fan but the shit saw the fan and ran the other way.
