My favorite brand of this is unnecessarily long cartoon reviews. Spongebob seems to be the easiest target; young teens not understanding that they're no longer the target age group for a show and that nostalgia skews perception of older episodes, and then creating an argument nearly an hour long after editing in order to explain why their newfound dislike of a kid's cartoon they grew out of is justified:
22:08 and 27:56 in particular stick out. this video is a 44 minute long time-suck and entrancing in the same way that car wreck footage is. you've been warned.

This reminds me of that one dude who made the "Top 10 worst Megaman X bosses" video and he picked all the bosses you were meant to fight first.

Look at his fucking moobs. Look at them. They look like fucking implants. You can actually see one of his nipples through the shirt.

He literally has bigger breasts than most of the women at Channel Awesome.
It's weird to watch his first reviews where he's a bit pudgy but not as much of a lardass like nowadays.
I think they hurt each other for different reasons. It's not really the same environment as it was back when it started. It's no longer about "adults" screaming into a camera about how this and that sucks in the safety of their parents' basement. It's now about skits, crossovers, and the occasionally continuing storyline attached to the review.
For one thing, the skits, crossovers and storylines were always a thing (after all, Doug got his stuff off the ground in part by clinging to AVGN with his silly calling-out videos) and Linkara being a thing with CA for almost its entire runtime.
But on the other, it's important to notice that one of the reasons why Phelous left CA was (in part) his disenchantment with how the page developed. As he himself wrote, he realized it was no longer a somewhat tightly knit community of friends making videos and became more of a "purely business" type of thing.
That, and Doug being a massive cunt after Phelous made the Effects for "To Boldly Flee".
And now I'm waiting for the day when either Doug or Lewis decide to backstab the other. Because honestly, that's what I feel might happen sometime down the line.
Can't see that happen. Lewis doesn't strike me as one of the "Brutus" type of people.
And Doug wouldn't want to lose his precious buttmonkey.
Neither is Doug. They both drag each other into mediocrity
To me, they are more like a binary star system. They circle around a shared centre of mediocrity, being held in orbit by the other's gravity.

So what do you think would do them in? A fan-made lynchmob? The other contributors turning against them? Their utter stupidity? (Placing money on that last one, myself)
I think they'll be so poor once the site goes out of business, that one will betray the other over the last can of beans.

Their utter stupidity and their inability to create something new. Everyone at CA is basically still just riding the coat-tails of AVGN-style reviews, but the market for that slowly dwindles. A few contributors took their coat (Phelous and Spoony being notable examples), others just stopped making videos (Like JesuOtaku) figuring they can't do that shit forever.
The way I see it, CA currently consists of Doug, Brad, Film Brain, Todd in the Shadows, Linkara and a plethora of boring imbeciles barely anyone ever gives half a crap about.

While big names like Linkara or Cinema Snob still pull in views (and will do so for quite some time), the rest of CA is just forgetable and I see no long lasting market for them (even though they might have a decent amount of fans).
Strangely enough, I think Doug has a somewhat decent position with his reenacting of current movies, as that's something other reviewers usually can't do (due to a lack of props, a decent studio and so on).
Also, YT's behaviour is really shitty when it comes to copyright claims, so that works against them, too.

In short, I think CA will just slowly fade away for a number of reasons until it suddenly fizzles out.

To be fair, the last few seasons of Spongebob has pretty much been pure shit. But I also don't think it's worth getting worked up into a frothy, Mr. Enter-esque rage about, either.

I guess a lot of dudes actually liked Age of Ultron...

What's not to like?

I'm watching the BvS review now and I'm questioning how much they actually paid attention to the movie. Hell, Joe's supposed to be the Superman fanboy by his view on Luthor is too fucking basic. Depending on your continuity, Luthor is out to end Superman for petty reasons like blaming Supes for his hair loss in an accident to more complicated reasons like believing humanity would weaken because of Superman. That they won't strive for themselves and become dependent on the Kryptonian. Hell, there are works that have Luthor expressing his belief that Superman can't be that pure because he can't get his head around using all that power benevolently. It's even been shown Luthor is jealous of the big Blue.

That's the Luthor Snyder went for. Not the criminal mastermind but the person who believes Superman is a danger to humanity that has to be stopped... and then Luthor can step in and exploit the fuck out of mankind to satisfy his ego.

Oh yeah, Lois figured out Clark Kent was Superman in Man of Steel. She freaking called him Clark while he was in his Superman suit in front of his mom's house in Smallville... in front of what I'm assuming were local cops. It isn't her finally figuring it out since she was able to track him down before he even worked at the Planet.

And for fucks sake, the bombing of the Capital was to show people that Superman was fallible, that he wasn't perfect. And Superman thinks Batman's methods of attacking thugs is too brutal while Superman is more concerned about saving lives. That's the difference in their ideologies, Superman saves people while Batman is waging an aggressive war on crime. And it wasn't fake fingerprints, Luthor cut of Zod's and used them to access the ship.

I get it, they didn't like the movie. I didn't like it much either and considered walking out at one point. But I at least paid attention and found the plot works itself out better than what these two bozos are saying. It's like Joe is pissed off people are questioning Superman in this movie, when he was the guy defending Man of Steel.

Honestly expecting them to pay that much attention is setting up for disappointment. If that "How we make nostalgia critic" thing is to be believed at least Doug and Rob make their reviews by sitting there cracking jokes at the movie MST3K style. Which is fine for cheesy bad movies where ignoring major plot points doesn't matter but for these types of films you kinda need to have two watches; a serious watch to follow the story, plot and characters and ensure what you criticise isn't solved within the film and a 'joke' watch where you come up with jokes. These shmucks just rushed to watch it, find things to badmouth/defend so they can revive their Man of Steel Joe vs Critic shtick and didn't give it a second thought.

Ever notice how when Doug makes reviews he only really talks about mainstream blockbusters? I never see him talking about indie or artsy films that much.
