3m 56s: "The next Ghostbusters is probably gonna be a hit, because -well- as much as of you don't want to see it you're just so damn angry you have to see it, to see how it compares to the original."
That's silly. As I pointed out earlier, I am probably going to watch the movie, but I'm not going to pay money for it.
Oh, now I understand.

I'd still argue that while you won't pay for it many of the outraged will. Countless movies comic/horror/nerd fandoms have made poorly received movies successful. It's just kind of how nerd culture (myself included) operates.

See Batman v Superman's financial success.

EDIT- As for the new video, eh. Unless they bring something new to the table I'm sure it's every article we saw last Saturday but with more receding hairlines.

But normal people aren't angry about it. They just think the trailer doesn't give any good reason to bother seeing it. If the movie comes out and gets 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and everyone I know says it's great, then maybe it'll be time to revise that opinion.

While I agree that regular people aren't angry I can't say they won't bother either? I'm sure it appeals to the people that enjoy Melissa McCarthy-esque comedies. A decent sized audience when you look at how well Spy and The Heat did in the box office. ($235.7 mil and $229.9 mil respectively). Add in the casual superhero/franchise action audience (which this could also appeal to) and you hit quite a few demographics.

It may not appeal to you or your peers (which is totally fine) but to say it doesn't appeal to regular people seems a bit absurd.

In regards to the trailer video, I think Walker is mistaken that they changed elements of the movie based on fan reaction to the trailer. The project WAS overhauled a year or two before its release because the script was leaked and there were overwhelmingly negative feelings towards key elements (the turtles were aliens). The trailer was also greeted with disdain, as was the movie itself by critics... but it still was a big hit with the people who months before were saying that Michael Bay was raping their childhood.

Was it a big hit with the fans? I just remember lots of jokes about them looking weird and shit.

Side Note- Love how Michael Bay gets blamed. I'm sure he's involved creatively somehow but he didn't direct or write the movie.

Perhaps I should have phrased it to say that the people bitching about it made it a big hit. It managed almost $200 million domestically despite it being an August release and competition from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Michael Bay is just an easy target since he directed the Transformers movies that the fanboys hate but keep paying to see anyway.
I only get the feeling they only see those films out of self-torture at this point. Either that or they're that stupid to buy into anything that has the Transformers name on it.

I thought the first one was okay, I hated the second one and didn't want to watch anymore of the movies. I was also pretty young when I made that decision, and I'm still sticking with it. Yes, a grade schooler had better taste and impulse control than grown-ass men.

I watched the first three (in theatres, at that). But I never bothered with the fourth.

I also remember when Angry Joe got into a one-sided war with Ebert and the other critics that rated the second film negatively.
