Does this make Doug Walker the Michael Brown of Youtube's equivalent of #BlackLivesMatter?

Possibly. Except we actually know that the copyright laws on YouTube are extremely unfair and that the victims are usually innocent.

I think you mean "Copyright policies", Youtube isn't defining new laws at which it operates independent of & deviating from actual federal laws.

Doug Walker just posted a video detailing the conventions he's going to in the next few months. Of greater interest is that the video opens with an announcement that they are looking for a female cohost for their upcoming comic book game show, which, according to the video, will be undergoing test shoots soon. Heck, we might even get an episode of that video game game show before the end of 2018.

Wait, that's still a thing? I thought they forgot all about that after Pop Quiz Hotshot failed to make waves.

I thought so, too, though I figured it was probably abandoned due to a lack of funds. I have no hope for the final product to be watchable based on PQH, but I actually find it strangely admirable that they are still moving forward with it.

I'm shocked they didn't just pull a DSP and not do it myself. I guess they did deliver, even if said show will be shit.

One thing I heard about is the time Brad kicked out Jake of the Midnight Screenings group. Can anyone give me a quick summary about why this happened?

IIRC, Jake was sleeping with Brad's then-girlfriend behind his back, Brad found out about it, she asked for a polyamorous relationship, and Brad was having none of it.

I'm OK with it as Oogieloves needs to be seen to have some context to the madness being described!

Also because Brad is funny as fuck and will come up with different complaints.

Saw the review a few weeks ago. It got to the point where I actually had to watch the movie (Cary Elwes is the best part, all the songs get stuck in your head though, and they aren't good songs to begin with). The thing I like about Brad is that he actually reviews stuff that is either interesting, obscure or underrated, or is so messed up that you need to see it.

With Critic a lot of the time it's "I remember it so you don't have to" which kind of implies "I review it so you don't have to watch it" unless he actually tells you to watch the film.

Wow. Fuck that cuck shit.

Three cheers for Brad for not putting up with cuckery.

I felt embarrassed for Cary Elwes. The poor guy.

And half the time, it sounds like Doug hasn't watched the movies he's reviewing beforehand.

I definitely care about #WTFU. I want to make videos using clips of movies and such (I'm not trying to be the next Nostalgia Critic or AVGN, I'm more inspired by CR's Familar Faces), so this whole fiasco is important to me.

And from what I understand, what actually constitutes "fair use" has to judged by court more or less (this bares investigating).
The thing is having a better, more clear idea of what is considered fair use on Youtube is great. I mean no doubt bigger companies have used their status to get things unrightfully taken down.

Just that having Doug Walker as the face of it makes the whole thing feel a bit silly.

Well Team Four Star have apparently been taken down (again), so hopefully they'll take over a bit.

True as that may be, the problem is that YouTube's honoring copyright claims by people who don't even own the damn thing to begin with. You figure someone would take a look and ask "Why the fuck is this guy claiming copyright for something Warner Brothers made, yet did jack shit on?"
