Doug's review of Quest for Camelot in particular annoys me. He spends eons of the review whining about how none of the more magical elements to it (enchanted forests and the like) don't explain how they work. It's medieval fantasy. I don't think every time a character enters a magical environment they should have to turn to the camera and spend paragraphs of dialogue explaining the hows and whys. It's MAGIC.
Hypocritically, he's praised other films with magical elements that never had to explain themselves. It seems like he'll often just look for the most insignificant elements of a film to nitpick without actually pointing out something of value.

I think the weeb girl was JesuOtaku, who I recall really ticked some people off with her mannerisms and attitude in that video.
Ah yeah, that's the one. Again, it's hard to tell which female reviewer is which after a while.

I think they did Fern Gully 2 together as well, so the first review must've made a pretty shekel. The audience was pretty split on Lindsay teaming up with Doug, iirc, though most of the autists were too busy staring at her tits and saying creepy things about her pigtails (including a few who, ahem, liked 'the younger look'). NChick is a crazy thirdwaver, but I can understand why she didn't want to be associated with TGWTG any more.
Nah, FernGully 2 was Doug solo during his sequels month. And one of the last reviews to actually be remotely entertaining/funny in any capacity.

This reminds me of when he reviewed Airborne. Where one of his problems of the film was how 90s it was. I think it should have been obvious to him that it was made in the early 90s, of course it's going to try its damnedest to be "hip, trendy and EXTREME!" Mocking it's one thing, literally complaining about it is another.

Doug just posted yet another video about fair use and YouTube's policies. And once again, shows that he doesn't understand that fair use only protects him from being sued by the copyright owners of whatever he reviews, and that it's completely up to YouTube as to what videos they allow to be published on their site.

That being said, there clearly is an issue with YouTube's systems being abused by people like Derek Savage or the developers of Day One: Garry's Incident, and it's pretty shitty if, as Brad claims, studios are putting in copyright claims on videos that are made up wholly original footage.

I don't know why it's hard for people to remember that it was JesuOtaku when she was the only anime reviewer that ever did their job on the site. MarzGurl was the only person with a worse upkeep than Spoony & ThatDudeInTheSuede? Disappeared from the site a few months after he arrived & returned for a few weeks after Suburban Knights only to disappear from the face of the Earth again.

Oh and the big reason for the backlash wasn't simply about Doug's passive role in the review but JesuOtaku's constant insistence that the original Japanese dub of the three movies was superior to the American mashup. I've actually seen both versions & found that the original cuts were crammed with vapid filler; nothing of value was lost.

Just to give you an idea on how petty and pointless the review was, Jesu made a big point about how Diaboromon was meant to be pronounced as "Diablomon", as if that would've flown with parents. She actually got mad at the Angela Anaconda short before the beginning of the movie, which was made to hype the movie.

That part with Brad having his vlogs getting copyright strikes was about the only really solid part of that whole video. The entire opening is a condescending, snivelling straw man of how Hollywood works.

I like how when he brought up Viacom getting a bunch of their content removed from Youtube, he called them hypocrites for uploading their own videos to Youtube afterward. I cannot even fathom how stupid that remark is; he essentially said that it's wrong for the copyright holder to publish their work if they don't like it being pirated.

This is literally tantamount to a kid bitching that the other kid grabbed their ball and took it home with them.

Much as he's had this and so much worse coming to him, I won't give Doug shit for his complaints on Youtube being a cruel, selfish, and arbitrary institution of takedown abuse, corporate crookery, and hypocrisy. He isn't even spouting a correct point from a wrong place. I hate his stuff, but he's absolutely within the terms of fair use, and like so many others is getting screwed over entirely because of that worthless old salad-tosser Sumner Redstone and his cohorts.

It'd be poetic justice if Mike Michaud was the one fucking him up the ass. Him taking it from Youtube over this shit is just an injustice committed against, in his case, an unlikable victim. He deserves this like Casey Anthony deserves to be prosecuted for the murder of Nicole Brown.

Suede had an excuse. He's a Mormon and was sent on the Mission. Once it was over, he started making videos again. He's even married, and has his own little rugrat.

Really, he's too good for Doug & Co.

Well, there's also Bennett and MasakoX... out of which only Bennett regularly posted reviews, while Masako was too busy with his Abridged series.

You act like the company is a person with autonomy and a moral compass. Why do people think like this?

"The faceless company out to secure itself is cutthroat!"

Like, no shit?

Oh, the late bloomer and the guy who never really mattered.

I've never liked Bennett, I've always found him condescending and rather obnoxious to watch. And he lost a lot of credibility points for copping out on the Violence Jack review.

MasakoX, I only know him from his DBZ:A roles and literally nothing else.

Well it is a fairly legitimate complaint to some degree- The companies removing videos that have absolutely nothing to do with them. That YouTube allows that to slide, and yet take too long for counter-claims is also fucking absurd.

Yeah. Fuck the Violence Jack review. This made me a lot more ambivalent about Sage, and while he did somewhat redeem himself later on, I still have a bad taste in my mouth thinking about it.

Bennett had credibility? I thought he intentionally lied about animes just to make them look worse than they really are.

Yep, I believe one of the bigger sins was his Evengelion Review.

On another note, I recently learned that I had forgotten what laughter was like, until today:

Well, this was more about who else was posting anime reviews on what was formerly TGWTG rather than whether they have credibility...

...because then all we'd be left with is Brad, since Phelous got kicked out.

I'm okay with Brad redoing that movie. Mainly because I do remember that he did it originally with that Jake guy who self-destructed out of a mixture of thirst and arrogance. Plus Brad is still the only guy attached to the label that isn't shit.

At least by TGWTG standards. Otherwise, the fucker's a piece of shit who clearly doesn't understand the things he reviews (that being Anime and music).

I dunno, I think intentionally lying about things in a review is a worse crime than just being boring, or nitpicking like fuck. At least the latter two aren't falsifying information on purpose.

Yeah, I always noticed something off when watching the few reviews I actually saw.

I'm OK with it as Oogieloves needs to be seen to have some context to the madness being described!

Also because Brad is funny as fuck and will come up with different complaints.
