He was never laugh out loud funny per se, but he was more enjoyable a couple years back.

I still like his review of movies like "The Room" and "Battlefield Earth".
Yeah, you do have a point there. He was a tad more enjoyable back then. But then sometime in 2011, he just started becoming more obnoxious and unfunny. And here we are now, Doug's literally a former husk of his former self, and he's grown more and more pissy towards his haters.

It's sad to know that there was a time when Doug Walker was funny.

Yeah... Too bad most of that was him acting funny (mugging), rather than being funny by screaming real loud.

I think that was why I was really laughing at him, despite him being right about some of these movies he's beaten up on being terrible. Too bad even then, he fucking overdid it too much, looking back at it now.

There's something about Doug that really confuses me these days, if he really wants to do a sketch based series like Demo Reel while still pleasing NC fans then why can't he just do both? He's done multiple shows at once before so what's stopping him now? Just have a regular NC that's excatly like the old reviews one week and then have some sort of sketch based show the other week. He'd probably win back a lot of old fans if he went that route.

I think CA missed the ball with not picking up Thug Notes when they had the chance. In case you don't know, it's where this stereotypical gansta does cribnotes of famous novels with stick figures. It was one of the best things they could've had in a while, but his crossover chances were low (though I could see something with Oancitizen.)

An amazing find, if I'm allowed to add.

(Just about) All crossovers done by these guys suck, especially because they don't seem interested in working with one another. I'm sorry, but you need to show legit interest for doing something cooperative like that to work. and that's fact.

Some of the small ones can be good. My favorite being the science of "reviewer dibs" that was in Oancitizen's Vase de Noces review (a bit NSFW)

Yeah, and sometimes they seem to acknowledge how uninterested they are during these crossover reviews. Which, in my opinion at least, makes it 10 times worse.

There are very few crossovers I've seen that actually work. Most of the time two sweaty nerds in front of a video camera does not magically make it better than just having one nerd. The real reason these reviewers do this sort of thing is cross-promotion, to try and blend their audiences together and pick up new subscribers from the other reviewer's fans.

What really bugs me about this is how they assume their fans will appreciate having someone else forced on them. I like the reviewers I like for their specific quirks; if I want to laugh at something else I'll seek it out.

Now that was something special. I think somebody deserves a sub.

Depends on who it is. Brad always seems to be up for these things but you'll notice that he only does crossovers with certain people. Meanwhile Doug will do something with anybody willing to come to the studio. He did one with Erod, a.k.a "The Blockbuster Buster". Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Pure laziness. At one point he had over $5000 in Patreon money. It's dropped below half that and always dropping. I'm honestly surprised he even has that much. Soon he's gonna have to get off his ass and start working, because his Patreon is slowly drying up. Out of all the CA reviewers, it saddens me to see Spoony having fallen this far.

When he was dealing with his mental disorder and took a short hiatus, that made sense. At one point he was actually pretty competent. Now it's just vlogs, livestreams with little to no commentary, and tweets. Even his last actual reviews were pretty shit. I really wish I knew why he just quit. I really did love his Ultima Retrospective, and still think of it as one of the best video review of a game series.

Spoony used to be so good. This is really depressing, seriously, what the fuck Noah?

Thug Notes wouldn't work well with Channel Awesome. It's thought-out, researched and delivers insight on what each work means done within a short timespan. Not to mention, it's humorous presentation plays upon our own prejudices to make what is being said all the more memorable.

Basically, it would make Doug and the rest look like whiny bitches that don't know what they're talking about.

I thought he already quit like 2+ years ago.
